This company came highly recommended from a friend. I have had many experiences with other moving companies in London, and understood RJ movers charge a premium price for the service they offer.I had a lovely experience booking and having follow-up phone calls with the secretary/coordinator. Same for when the owner came to my 1 bedroom apartment to give an estimate. The movers however really were disappointing for several reasons.
Initially I was ignored as I met the 3 movers at my building's entrance. I had to approach each of them and introduce myself in order to be acknowledged. I was quoted a move lasting 3-4 hours and I must say the movers definitely took their time to maximize the 4 hours. I understand this is labour intensive work and safety is important, but this is not what it was about. I noticed one of them was often on his phone texting or shuffling music, and their pace was very casual. In general they were very pleasant, but almost to a fault. They were joking around casually about "hot chicks" and making MANY complaints about how much/how hard they work....right in front of me. I am a female RN and at one point I was indirectly told I don't work as hard as they did even though I work 12 hr shifts versus the movers 10 hour shifts. I was also provided 5 wardrobe boxes to use for the move....which reeked of cigarette smoke, which I can't help but notice the movers smoked before, during, and after the move. Therefore my clothes smelled of cigarette smoke when they were unpacked.
I have hired other large company "name brand movers" to move to Toronto from London, and they cost less than RJ movers who moved me approximately 2 kilometers. I would definitely not hire them again. read more
