We were standing by the pick up window the whole time so I'm not sure why he didn't call her name when he was calling everybody elses'? Best part is that after we started to walk away, one of the employees came out and made an announcement that you can order drinks from the cart. Half the queue got out of line and moved over there... This should be on a sign somewhere so that you can get in the correct line and not wait forever to order.

I hate to write poor reviews, but have to comment. My husband and I went to RJ's on 3/12/22 and had such amazing service and food, we chose to go back Sunday 3/20/22. I wish I remembered our servers name that day because she was phenomenal. We knew the wait to be seated would be long (50 mins), no big deal as we were expecting that. What we didn't expect was to sit almost an hour waiting for our food. Our blonde haired waitress never checked on us to update us on why our food was taking so long.....I shouldn't say never, she came by once to refill my husbands drink, but with no comment on our food. We were seated inside, so got to see everything. At least 3 other couples come in after us and receive their food before us. We got to watch our server chat for at least 10 minutes rolling silverware and then walk to the side (where they can go into the back) and continue talking to that same server.....not to mention it looked like they were complaining about something. Like I said, we got to watch everything, and not once did she 'look' behind her to see if our food was ready. My husband and I ended up leaving. While we were walking out, I stopped by the 'register' area and asked the gentleman if he was the owner/manager, he said kind of. Well, you either are or you aren't! I told him we had been waiting almost an hour, the service was terrible, and that we hadn't received our food and were leaving. Our server finally brought the food to the table while I was talking to the gentleman and said she just brought our food. Are you serious? We had been waiting all that time with no updates and she expected my husband and I to come back and sit down.......Our server said twice our food was on the table. I told her and the 'manager/owner' again that I it was unacceptable to not be checked on while waiting for our meal. A 'sorry' from them was not really an acceptable or appropriate ending at this point, but after the lack of service we received, I'm not sure there would have been any appropriate ending! My husband and I did not stay. Even though we were starving, we were too pissed off to deal with their b/s. read more

After reading the reviews posted I'm a bit confused. I have been eating at RJ'S for 4 yrs. now and LOVE the place. The FOOD, owner, LADIES serving the food, cooks, down to the bus guys are simply terrific ! RJ'S is consistent each and every time I go in rather it be the food or attitudes. I go by TRACK RECORDS and RJ'S is PERFECT. The reason I am confused by the other remarks posted is because you have Jay A. NIMROD who needs to get a life. Jay, If you spent as much time seeking mental help as you do bagging on hard working buisness owners you would be FAR BETTER SERVED ! As far as the food goes I would say it;s outstanding considering the price and service one gets upon arriving ! However, we were pleasantly surprised! The host was incredibly accommodating and helped us secure a cozy corner table. Our server, Marina, was attentive and charming. She was very patient with us as we took a little time to settle in and decide on our orders. RJs Café absolutely blew me away. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette along with the biscuits and gravy, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. The biscuits deserve their own spotlight -- unbelievably soft, melt‑in‑your‑mouth, and huge. Easily the best biscuit I've ever had. I also tried one of their homemade cinnamon rolls, and it was massive and delicious, packed with that warm, comforting flavor you hope for but rarely get. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and on top of everything. My food came out fast, but nothing felt rushed -- just great service paired with great food. We stopped by this breakfast spot today, and overall, the experience was just okay. The food was decent--nothing particularly memorable--and a bit overpriced for what it was. Service-wise, it was a mixed bag. While some of the younger staff were really sweet and welcoming, one older woman made the experience uncomfortable by only addressing my boyfriend the entire time, even though we were both clearly involved in ordering and communicating. I ended up just letting him take the lead to avoid saying something I'd regret. It's unfortunate, because a small attitude like that can really affect the vibe. read more

This place is in serious health code violation. The owner needs to take heed of these negative reviews regarding the servers making the toast. I don't understand how this is seen as acceptable. Pens, menus, cash, credit cards, etc. that are handled by the servers have tons of germs on them. They then butter everyone's toast with bare, unwashed hands. It's mind blowing honestly. I feel the need to protect fellow citizens from ingesting germ covered toast by filing a complaint with the health department. Good luck RJ's! read more

The food is top notch, the waitresses and cooks are the best around and the atmosphere, because of R.J. is wonderful. All positive energy and fun! I read the comments which were awful by the way. They must have been at the wrong Rj's . OMG the pesto chicken sandwich was amazing. I am a pesto chicken sandwich snob and this was the best I've had in a long time. Even tho it was busy the service was still good. OKAY this place seriously has the very best banana pancakes anyone could ever dream of. I love going to RJ's! We bring our dog, and eat breakfast there weekly. The Breakfast burritos are excellent, along with great French Toast, biscuits and gravy, and chicken fried steak. Patio is horrible. One of the lady's keeps yelling so loud for the next person to be seated it's impossible to relax and get comfortable. The Huevos Ranchero and Crab Hash with the side of citrus creme fraiche on the side was well balanced, light and refreshing! The overall experience was a great way to start the day of exploring in the Mission area! If you're making a day trip in Southern California San Juan Capistrano I highly recommend taking the train and making a day trip to the area, and of course starting brunch at the Ramos House! The vibe here is less "quick hotel breakfast" and more "clear your schedule and maybe lower your expectations."
