While I'm not really a morning person, if I am up early, I want to go for breakfast. I think it goes back to my university days of going out for breakfast at all hours of the night or even before going to bed after a night out. There is something comforting and relaxing about it. Since we were headed into the market to try doing all of our grocery shop there instead of the supermarket, we decided to take a chance and hope there was some cafe serving breakfast.
We walked down from the car park on Rose Hill through a few of the small streets and spoted Rjo's Coffee House. To me, it looks really new, but maybe it is just really well kept! Inside, there are about five tables as well as a soft-seating area. There are menus on the tables and the staff will come round to take your order. Although if you are looking for cakes, you may want to have a gander at the cake display before sitting down.
The staff are friendly and it is quite a nice little cafe. They have framed photographs for sale and actually, there are a number of them that I would have liked to purchase... so I'll definitely be back! For breakfast you can have an English Breakfast, Eggs Benedict, or if you prefer something lighter, pastries. Of course there is a selection of coffees and teas... also for takeaway if you are in a rush. However, the coffee house is also licensed... so if you would like a boozy coffee because it has been one of those days, you can indulge! And on the Facebook page (they do not currently have their own website), they have Ladies' Night and events like Wine and Cheese Tasting.
Mr. Snarky had an English Breakfast with tea and I had Eggs Benedict with an Americano. The English Breakfast was a nice portion and Mr. Snarky liked the fact that he could customize it a bit since he doesn't like tomatoes or mushrooms. I haven't had Eggs Benedict in some time, but these were really nice. The nice thing about the cafe is even after you have finished your food, it is a nice place to sit and chat while you finish your coffee. It is welcoming and at no point do you feel rushed to finish and leave. We went up to the till to pay and I got a good look at all of their homemade cakes and sweets! Brownies, various cakes like Carrot and Lemon Drizzle, giant cookies, flapjacks... really you cannot go wrong. Definitely want to go back and try some of their cakes :) Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention (too busy drooling over cake) on whether they accept cards, but if they don't, just a couple minutes walk down the street and there are three ATMs near each other. read more
