Steam Yard is a pretty standard independent coffee shop in Shef. It's a ways away from the main roads, tucked inside of a little cobblestone square with a few shops and a tattoo parlor.
Service was quick. My friend and I sat outside as we wanted to enjoy the weirdly nice weather, but they had plenty of seating both indoors and out. The atmosphere is generally hipster, though the clientele seemed anything but.
I ordered a nitro brew and a scone, and both were decent. I was expecting the nitro brew to be foamier and smoother (like the one I had a few months ago at La Colombe) but it was bitter, and almost carbonated. Still good, just not what I was expecting. Though I don't think I'll be back in Sheffield anytime soon, if I were to return, I'd probably give Steam Yard another go and try a different drink. read more
