Elijah's Restaurant - Port City Crab Fries (think Wilmington's riff on Canada's poutine!)

Our hotel staff recommended this restaurant. I really wanted a nice and fresh fish sandwich. It…read morewas just a short walk down the Riverwalk. We went during lunchtime. The restaurant was nice and quiet.. the waiter was really friendly and gave great suggestions. The views from the restaurant was amazing since the restaurant is right on the Riverwalk, you have a nice view of the Cape Fear River. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was so good! It was nice and crispy on the outside and really flaky on the inside. My husband got the calamari. He said that it was really good. I will definitely go back to Elijah's the next time that I am in Wilmington. It was a great dining experience.

Stopped from our Riverwalk to enjoy a beer in this rather muggy day. Since it's our last night in…read moreWilmington, we decided to eat an early dinner. We started with a nice draft and the baked crab dip. To me the horseradish is a unique ingredient that sounds odd but makes this an excellent dip. Coupled with the garlic bread it is a rather decadent starter. Since we are leaving the coast, we also enjoyed an order of local oysters? Fresh and tasty. I liked the "pico de gallo" and the habanero mango sauce. That made for a new way to enjoy the oysters. And finally, I enjoyed the Cajun shrimp tacos. The shrimp were seasoned and prepared to absolute perfection. Our server Damani was very nice, cheery and attentive. She did a great job and we appreciated that. I was pleasantly surprised with this place. I thought it was more touristy and would be ok at best. But it was one of the better lunches I've had in the past month of traveling up the southeast Atlantic coast.

My (new) Wife and I decided on this place for our wedding the first time we laid eyes on it…read more We wanted an outdoor wedding without the risk of being completely outdoors. This place is more beautiful than I could've put together even with 5 years to plan the wedding. (My wife did 98% of the planning) We met with Jill the coordinator and immediately requested her help day-off for the event. She was instrumental in helping my wife maintain a level head when all of the people started coming together (when do the lights show up, whos your music person, lighting, food, where do we stand?, who's the minister, what song do you want played for each dance, etc, etc) This was all laid in Jills hands and we were able to focus on getting ready! We met with her a handful of times leading up to the event and she still remains a friend, not only for her great help during the planning, but also for her peace of mind during one of the most stressful parties we've ever thrown. The day went by fast, and we got to be immersed in the moment without worrying that something wasn't as it should be, we simply enjoyed the day. It was setup beautifully, and she even helped us out last minute getting some tables laid out! Jill, and the Atrium were an amazing find, and helped start us off on the rest of our life together.

Beautiful venue! We had our wedding ceremony at The Atrium. The staff went above and beyond for us…read more It poured on our wedding day. Poured. Hours before the ceremony I received a call from the staff offering to set up chairs under the covered section of the venue in case the rain didn't let up. Not only did they set up the chairs for us, in the hours leading up to the guests arriving they were sweeping, squeegeeing, and air blowing rain water into the drains to keep the area dry for guests. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. We didn't get to use the traditional aisle and benches but it was still just as beautiful and perfect as I imagined. I could not be happier and guests have continually been commenting on how beautiful and unique the space was.

There is a massive apartment complex I happen to live in literally right next to this place, so obviously they figured exactly what we'd all want to hear right after the construction finally stops at the end of the day is a motorcade full of hundreds of obnoxious bikers doing donuts outside our bedroom and office windows accompanied by the raspy moaning of some D-grade cover band. I don't know whose initiative it is to turn Wilmington into some sorta Pender county biker destination, but it's about time to stop. Everyone who actually lives here hates it. I thought the whole romanticized biker lifestyle was freedom on the long open roads of the HIGHWAYS. Ya know, because nobody wants to listen to that garbage for very long. So why is it that they're constantly rumbling around every corner of downtown these days? Maybe try an electric car concert next time, huh?

Went to The Shell for the Beer, Bourbon and BBQ event some time ago (not quite in a galaxy long, long ago) and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The staff there were gregarious and very helpful steering me to the various venues inside (getting the VIP ticket was well worth the extra as by the time the gates opened to everyone, it seemed what was already a good sized crowd became reminiscent of army ants on the march... Still, a great venue with fantastic views and one that I will be looking for future events.
