The farm is located on…read morethe river, just outside of Muscoda, and they practice organic agriculture, and are also restoring native grass and the prairie. The bison meat is being used for the tribe's elderly in an effort to reduce diabetes (the meat is lower in fat and richer in iron than beef). Eventually, they would like to be able to sell the meat. Another benefit of the bison ranch is protection of the effigy mounds that are on this riverfront property, as well as the native wildlife. Local tours are given--call ahead to arrange one. I highly recommend a tour--this is a beautiful area in Wisconsin. I am biased though as this is where I grew up!
