The…read morecampground is extremely easy to find and close to nearby attractions and shopping, should you forget something. We stayed while they were celebrating Halloween at the campground; a haunted house, decor, activities, and trick-or-treating. When we went to check-in, the door to the office was locked but someone quickly notified us via intercom that they would be right down to help us. The gentleman that helped us check in was incredibly friendly, offered up Wi-Fi information, and escorted our purchased firewood (and us) to our site. The campground is a lot bigger than we expected. There are several permanent sites here but lots of sites for RVs and tents as well. We were impressed with how secluded each site feels, there are a lot of mature trees. The extra touches, like a pumpkin at each campsite, was really thoughtful. The bathrooms were also insanely clean. They offered shower mats for their shower stalls, which I've never seen before. Just a lot of nice, personal touches. Unfortunately the cold got to us and we ended up leaving Saturday afternoon before the festivities took place. The owner saw us leaving and asked if everything was OK, he was concerned that we were leaving early. We will absolutely be staying at this campground again!

You'll meet your guide and then board a small bus to the estate. Plan to use restrooms here as most yours do not have access to facilities. If you have some time, take a seat and enjoy the amazing river views. The gift shop is pretty nice and the prices weren't insane. They also have nice maps showing nearby FLW sites if you want to explore further.

The cabins and surrounding woods are so quaint, I kept looking for woodland elves and a gingerbread house. I loved the details: wood chests, antique suitcases, lofted bedroom, wood-burning pot-belly stove and large jacuzzi, plus board games, CDS, books and fully a fitted kitchen. They provide firewood, included in the price of lodging. Lots of light and windows with comfortable seating throughout. Everything is so well thought out and placed, as if you're in the private vacation home of a smart and stylish family, and in a way you are - wife and husband proprietors Susan and Norbert live onsite. They thoughtfully had a fire burning and waiting for our arrival. We'll be back.

I was able to sleep in, read, sit on the porch and watch the deer, and wander the area and property taking photographs. For someone who works 7 days a week, this was a wonderful respite and time with nature. The owners were helpful and kind. Read the FAQs, don't expect to be fed a whole lot to do--that's really not the point. I look forward to returning some day to experience what it's like in a different season and explore other roads and little gems in the Driftless.

There are not many FLW designed commercial buildings that are still standing so this was an interesting place. We took the drive out to Richland Center. The group that now owns this building has done a good job of slowly renovating what was a wreck. They have a long way to go but restoration takes a lot of money. I give them credit for their creativity in integrating this place into the community. A warehouse is not as big a wow factor as most of FLW designed homes but it is still worth a visit.

This warehouse is unique because it's one of FLW's rare commercial building that still stands. So, for hardcore fans, the half-hour drive to Richland Center from nearby Spring Green is recommended. But, I'm not sure the uninitiated will find this quite as fascinating. I hate to say it, since I like to support the preservation of FLW's works, but the warehouse needs quite a bit of work and doesn't offer quite the same glimpse into Lloyd Wright's genius that many other places do (such as nearby Taliesin or his home and studio in Oak Park.) The exterior is interesting--quite a departure from what one might expect of a century-old warehouse--but the building was never finished and there is little to see in the interior. We arrived on a cold, damp October day, and the warehouse was equally cold and damp. (Plan your visit for a nicer day, since the interior is not heated or air-conditioned, as of yet.) The tour guide clearly loves the building and his commitment to restoring it is inspirational, but I think you'd have to be an FLW enthusiast to find this time well spent. The tour starts with a well-produced video about the history of the warehouse and the German family. From there, you get a walking tour that includes a bit about the design of the warehouse, a lot about the condition of the building and work to be done, and a trip through a rather sad floor of giant fading and decaying photos of FLW's greatest works. I hope someday I can return and find it a much different experience. With some work and redevelopment, the Albert D German Warehouse could be a terrific spot to learn about Frank Lloyd Wright, but for now, it's likely to be of interest mostly to hearty fans of Wright's work. Public tours are given Sundays 10am-2pm. The cost is $15 per tour.

I do not deal well with heat so I did have to move thru some areas faster than I would have liked. They do have a cafe half way thru so you can have some food and drinks. I did not stop here but it did smell wonderful. There's many things to see and everything is really cool and unique. The house and infinity room are impressive as well as the HUGE whale but all of Alex's inventions and collections are amazing as well. Honestly, the whole reason why I wanted to come was the world's largest indoor carousel. It is beautiful. I definitely sat there for awhile watching it. Side note on the Carousel, they have no horses but they do have a bulldog and as a owner of a bulldog, I literally bought everything in the gift shop that had a bulldog on it. Till this day, they are still uncovering more items in storage lockers so they probably will continue to add more items. I do think this place is worth the price and it is something you won't find anywhere else. I would love to check this place out again and I do highly recommend it. Also, the gift shop is big and had a lot of different items for everyone.

We took part 1 and 2 and it took us 3 hours of walking and perusing and ended up at carousel. Part 3 is another story. If you have hard time walking or claustrophobic, do only part 1. This school was designed and donated by Wright near the end of his life and was used as an elementary school until the early 1990s; it is now used as a cultural arts and community center. There is the opportunity to tour the school which you can book for $150 for up to 4 people; I did not have the extra money on this trip so I could only walk around the outside and look through the windows. The school is fairly small, but certainly is an attractive and interesting building. Even though built almost 70 years ago it looks modern with clean lines, no extra ornamentation and large windows all around. The building is relatively low to the ground especially on the sides and back which helps it to blend into the landscape. Looking in the windows you can see that the rooms are large, bright and have unique shapes being non-rectangular. The floors are the Wright preferred red color and he even provided a large hearth in the center of the building. Even without being able to go inside the building it was very interesting to visit the Wyoming Valley School and see how Frank Lloyd Wright designed a public school building; since this was near the end of his career and near to Taliesin it clearly was very personal to Wright and he did a great job. Well worth a visit if you are visiting Taliesin and they are only a couple of miles apart.
