Never has this ever happened in any other establishment. We also had 2 birthday parties there that both went great! The party hosts are proper hosts, super helpful and attentive. If you are a parent of young kids you know how crucial having that help is. All the staff knows my son by sight and are always welcoming and really tolerant and patient with my AuDHD son who constantly runs into every place he isn't supposed to. We feel like family here. I haven't gone on a hectic day (intentionally) so I can't speak to the rule enforcement on those days, but I can say that I have seen the strictness vary depending on the vibe, age, and amount of kids there. I appreciate this because it's annoying to have to parent other people's older kids around safety if they are being too rowdy around the little ones. They're all still just kids, though! The only improvement they could make is adding a slide or 2, but maybe that is in the future! Who knows! The most important thing to me is the intention and advocacy I have seen in management. There was a family of 4 at the park playing on the playground when I arrived and they stayed for most of the time I was there. It was nice to sit outside in the shade and enjoy the outdoors. Will definitely return to this park, maybe even with my dog to take on a walk here.

So the only ways your kid would make it into the street is either if your kid is the Flash, or you're a very distracted parent.

My only three qualms are that 1) parking can be a bit crazy on tournament days, 2) the dugouts are insanely small with only one entrance and 3) the fields are numbered however they are named, too. You really have to scope out the map to figure out where 'OPTIMIST' field is or 'Pizza Ranch' field. (I get sponsorships, but let's just keep fields numbered as it's more intuitive...) I believe it is the largest park in NL. It has: picnic shelters, a few soccer fields, a playground, a volleyball court and some newer tennis courts. Additionally, there is a trail around the park. My 10U softball team took second place at the tournament here this weekend! We definitely enjoyed playing at Penn Meadows Park.

Unless you have your own horse, lessons are on farm owned ponies. I love the fact that my daughter can learn the ins and outs of taking care of a horse. There isn't any hop on a saddled horse and run around the ring fluff. She starts by grooming the horse, saddling, and building confidence around a large animal. Her instructor is amazing and gives phenomenal, personal attention for the safety of the student and the horse. They start with the basics and eventually over time work their way up through a walk, Trot, Canter, and Gallup.

There are a few cubbies and coat racks available as you enter the second floor, which work perfectly for me to leave a few items. Locker rooms are also available on the first floor with locks for rent form the front desk (or just bring your own). The two gymnasiums are also clean and in good shape. Open gym times are posted at the front desk and online each week. You can also reserve the space rather simply. I've participated in Flag Football practice in the gym the past few weeks, and it was easy to navigate where to go.

Then, you proceed down the path into a gorge, keeping an eye out for fossils. I saw a bunch of fossils on the bank to my right, before I even made it to the gorge. There were a few people scattered walking their dogs, although one group was actively looking to spot fossils and had the brochure from the Army Corps of Engineers about the different fossils present. All in all, this was a great spot to spend an hour walking around. I did see evidence that people have poached fossils from here, which is a shame. Look, but don't take!

You'll often see someone fishing along the side of the pond (by a gazebo), lots of walkers and joggers, and the many parents and children using the fields. For those attending sporting events, there is a small concession stand and indoor bathrooms as well. Parking is plentiful. My main interaction with the park is from many walks around the trail or biking through as it connects to the larger bike trail system, and it's ideal for both! It's a wonderful place for a stroll in the evening to unwind from the day.

What a wonderful sports park!…read more As an Iowa City native, I was shocked to know this existed. It is less than five years old. This review is only based on the youth soccer fields at this park. My kiddos have done Tiny Tot soccer here multiple seasons-- in the spring, summer and fall. I love that the complex is easy to navigate, I adore that there are indoor bathrooms and that the parking is plentiful! There are nine well maintained youth soccer fields (which I think turns into three full-size soccer fields?) It also can host flag football. I've peeped the ball fields, there are five. Batting cages live here! The pavilion is nice, with shade. It appears to connect to some trails in the neighborhood? There are couple shelters, too. Coralville Youth Sports Park checks all the boxes. While it isn't SUPER convenient for us Iowa City residents to drive to, it is a perfect location for anyone in Coralville/North Liberty! What a great addition that was much needed.
