Clean, lower prices, decent location, & staff are all pluses. Parking can be a pain but they recognize that & hence the lower price. The tall ceilings & huge industrial windows make the apartment feel open & airy. I've learned the units aren't cookie cutter designed giving each a unique personality with a different layout for each. read more

The units are going to have to sell themselves here, because Danisha sure doesn't. It seemed to be a huge inconvenience to her to show us available units and did not provide us with any details about the complex, amenities, etc., unless specifically asked and even then it was an exasperated answer. She seemed so unwilling to take our money that we did her a favor and took it elsewhere. read more

I WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS REVIEW IF POSSIBLE, so here it goes.... the truth and nothing but the truth.... I recently moved out of the Riverview lofts after 2 years as a resident. I was back for a visit to neighbors when I saw the dramatic decline in the building. The outdoor furniture is no longer the blue polywood tables and chairs in the BBQ area, now it's only one beat up rusted table and chairs. In the lanai there was a sectional outdoor sofa chair and table, it's gone and replaced with tall table and stools... why? It's not comfortable to sit on and when does that many people sit there? Really??? What the heck were you thinking. Or you were t and took it home yourself Missing the fire pit and Adirondack chairs. The smell in the hallways during the day is pure cannabis ( the cheap stuff) smoke in the air. This is still a non smoking building also, so I can't seem to understand how it can be such a smoke filled place. THIS BUILDING SHOULD BE ON THE NAVY's DO NOT USE LIST IF THEY STILL HAVE IT. There was also the smell of dog urine , and wet spots in front , while walking into the building, guess people have no concern for their neighbor and just let the dogs urinate everywhere. Stains also noticed on carpet in hallway. While enroute to the outside area came upon a guy walking with his grey pit bull , carrying infant child in arms. The dog was not leashed nor listening to his owner. That in itself is reason for great concern. Im sure he is not going to drop the child to grab his dog if anything went awry. On a less important note, upon leaving and getting into my vehicle parked in the lot adjacent the building the outside lights were not all working ... Certain things say a lot to maintenance and upkeep of the building, which the Riverview lofts seem not to have. Despite their weekly intrusion to your apartment for some made up reason. In addition I find out that now residents must park on the 7-9 floor of the Sentera office building next to the loft. If you don't make it up to the assigned area in 10 minutes you are charged $10 So, if you chose to live there, don't stop amd give anyone a jump start or help change a tire, you will be charged for your effort. Let's get back to maintenance, they enter your apartment almost twice a month for some random inspection.. it gets old after a while. Never been in a place with so many inspections and it being a run down hell hole. And let's just put in a word on the management for a moment. There have been many pass thru the office doors it's hard to keep up with who is there, they stay is not long. But they all have several things in common, rudeness, arrogant, and there was one gal who thought that she was a communist ruler ' I'll make a rule and make everyone follow' , you were no great loss in your short tenure there. The common feature of office staff is they have their favorite people who are constantly sitting in the office having a chit chat...... we others who have a life just send emails. Who wants to enter the ' tea party' going on With all that laughter. The office staff I know have told information of tenants to other tenants they really shouldn't, but again they need fodder for the gossip tea party. And let's just add that they do regular inspections of your loft.... appliance check , window water leaks ,sink water leaks, yearly whatever inspection but they regularly enter your loft for some ' reason' they make up. So hide your valuables or it may disappear. It's bad enough your mail packages and amazon deliveries get taken but you can't even secure your loft as their ' contractors' enter all the time. So, it's hell if you work night shift and keep getting woken up. I'm not one to write reviews , but I hope to save a non pot smoking person rom moving into an Opium den. I'll leave the best to last..... when I lived into my loft, a month later I found a large bag of pot on top of my kitchen cabinet.... there were also small zip loc bags found there also, guess the dealer left some of his starch there by accident... I promptly put it in the sinks garbage disposal and flushed it for a while...... read more

I lived here from 2017-2019. The location was great. I was within walking distance to downtown Norfolk and Ghent. I enjoyed watching the river from the rooftop deck. I lived in a two bedroom split level loft. With the location along the Elizabeth River Trail, several breweries are within walking and easy biking distance. Jessica is a gem. She truly cares about the residents and the building and made sure everything was working. If I find myself in Norfolk again, I would look at renting another loft in this building. read more

Seems great on paper, but living here is terrible. I've already found another place and am moving out at the end of my current lease. The interior of the apartments themselves and appliances are new and nice, but everything else about the building and management are terrible. Super thin walls, so you get you listen to everyone's dogs barking, kids yelling, saturday night parties, people yelling at their TVs during football games, etc all over the building; slow internet (single building-wide connection that you can't upgrade), expensive parking far from the building, and if you park in front of the building you WILL be towed. The call boxes occasionally stop working on the building which means you're stuck outside -- if this happens after hours, you get to wait for "emergency maintenance" to take their sweet time letting you in. My bike was stolen from the stairwell and management did nothing even though they have cameras all over the building. To top it all off, Monica, the owner and manager of the building, is a horrible person to deal with. read more

My husband and I relocated from the Hampton area to live in Norfolk. We both went to ODU and were familiar with the area. We both agreed that we wanted to live somewhere that was dog friendly and safe-this is the perfect spot. Riverview Lofts is located right across from Sentara and EVMS. This explains why a large portion of the residents work at the hospital. The location is very convenient and walking distance to these facilities. My husband and I mainly chose Riverview because of their dog policy. There are no weight restrictions (great news when you have a 90 lb German Shepherd) and you can have a maximum of 2 pets (yes, that means our kitty friends too). Most of the apartments located downtown have both breed and weight restrictions. The lofts are beautifully done. They have an industrial/rustic feel to them. The kitchen includes stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and stone backsplash. The apartment has carpet (in the bedrooms), tile (in the bathroom), and bamboo styled wood floors. The kitchen is very small, but the bathroom is amazing! The shower is massive and the views are incredible. The lofts are definitely on the pricer side, but you get what you pay for. Electricity is the only utility not included in rent. The staff are very friendly and were extremely helpful during the move in process. I would highly suggest the Riverview Lofts if you are in search of a new place to call home. My husband and I are so thrilled we chose them! read more

I lived in this apartment building when it was fairly new, from September 2013 to September 2014. Since it was still hot out, it seemed the perfect place, from sitting on the lounge deck chairs overlooking the spectacular view, the saltwater pool, the weight/exercise room, the ability to have a pet, direct tv is paid for and the apartment comes with a 39 inch flat screen tv, proximity to Ghent activities is a quick walk, covered heavy parking garage across the street, most people were medical residents, apartment building activities with parties, and the attractive apartment. The clientele changed, suddenly, in or around February 2014. Families with screaming kids, various couples squabbling, a fire where the property manager stood outside the building stating everything was okay yet all night the fire alarms would ring and the fire trucks kept coming, uncontrolled dogs, poop everywhere on the property, the stench in the winter is unbearable due to the ammonia, trash overflowing in the bins outside with a terrible stench, constant police arrivals due to gun threats between tenants, and very, very dark in my apartment with one window facing the concrete corridor between buildings. The place is very high priced, but everything is thrown in with the exception of electric. I had the smallest type unit you can get and paid $1200 a month plus $100 monthly pet fee. Keep in mind this was a SPECIAL so when the lease was up, my rent would go up to who knows what. I enjoyed the place in the beginning very much, after cold weather, it became a nightmare. Tenants leave whomever is waiting outside into the building, so the feeling of security is gone. The first property manager was excellent, even loaned me her air mattress until I could afford a bed/couch. She was efficient and highly promoted the building and its attributes. After she left, this is when the nastiness started. Tenants would leave hateful notes to each other, threatened each other, and the next manager did nothing even when reported. Her statement was, "I can only do something if there are three reporting parties." And, yes, I remember Monica the owner. She is rude, nasty, and does not represent her building well. I would not recommend this place. It's not worth your health, environment wise or security wise. It is very, very expensive for the tiny and dark place you are holed up in. Management talks out of both sides of their mouth. Get rid of all carpet in all units. No wifi in the common areas that work well. It's wonderful to look at, but after you scratch the surface, you're not going to be impressed. read more

The area out back that is supposedly dog safe has a broken gate, and an insecure fence that makes it pretty easy for dogs to escape. The rooms are decent, but very overpriced. Parking is incredibly limited, so good luck entertaining guests. Don't park out front, or you will get towed. read more

Monica the Owner is rude, horrible people skills, went against the laws of the Fair Credit Act and Credit Reporting by asking us questions before submitting an application. Monica had no facial expressions whatsoever and was only concerned about one thing, money. My husband is a tattoo artist and she looked at him as if he was beneath her. I finally had it and told them there is no way we are living there, and left disgusted by her attitude. I do not see this place lasting. Also the online price is not the same as what you find out there, and not worth it at all! Horrible experience. read more

I've been trying to get ahold of management for weeks now with no response and when I go to the office no one is there! I was literally trying to schedule a tour but it seems like nobody works here read more

Oh, where do I begin? If you enjoy the constant smell of marijuana throughout the building (and from the vents), this is for you. If you enjoy having your neighbor harass you and management not help you, this is for you. Management changes every 3-4 months by the way, so enjoy that. Management also decides who's allowed in the office and who's not. Speaking with them is as much of a gamble as the Gameshare stock world. Management is not in the office consistently and has trouble managing the two complexes they own. You now have to park on the 7th-9th floor of the parking garage. Oh, if you're trying to unload your groceries in the 30 minute front parking, good luck. For some reason, it's constantly filled. Thankfully, we are now allowed to use the elevator at the garage, so being pregnant and carrying it down is great fun. The dog walking area is constantly covered in dog "land mines," so have fun walking around there! There is mold in the ceilings, along with bottom of the flooring, etc. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING because we were lied to and had to fight it. I spoke with three other apartment renters, and they are also trying to leave due to clientele, being lied to and just overall disgusting preservation and standards. People don't follow COVID rules and protocol. I called management scared for my safety because someone answered the door with a gun to their side after harassing our neighbor and his friend got in my face (without a mask and I'm 8 months pregnant). They said it's not an emergency issue, and I received an email three days later asking for me information. Ah, someone else's review reminded me of something. Someone threw up on a Saturday night inside, and there was a huge pile of throw up there for almost a day. The beautiful rooftop pictures and lounge area are no more because people trashed it (pretty on spot for the clientele) and were bragging about that. The electric bill, no matter how well you think you manage it, is always AT LEAST in the mid $100s. You are also spending $110ish to park per month. The rent looks enticing, but in reality, you're paying at least $1650 to live in a tiny apartment. That's if you get the smallest apartment which is truly unlivable if you have more than 2 people. Even adding a puppy made it unlivable. What a promising appearance with a horribly managed staff. When we moved out, we got dinged for not cleaning out the fridge, oven and freezer. We ran the oven to clean it, and we got hit for it. They couldn't remember how much it was going to cost us, so I can't wait to see what they try to pull. :) It's not listed on the checkout, so I had to go to my new home to find out. Stay tuned and I'll share if interested. Please, for your well-being and sanity, listen to the bad reviews. May the odds be ever in your favor. read more

STOP..do not rent !! All theses negative reviews are spot on. This place sounded great & looked amazing but living here as been one of the worst decisions I've ever made. The rent is outrageously high they make you think everything is included but you pay electric, and EVERYTHING in the apartments are electric. The parking is across the street in the hospital parking garage. The noise level is insane, you can hear everything that goes on in everyone's apartment, even smell everything that is going on. There are constant parties with beer bottles all over the hallways drunk people running up & down the stairs, dogs are everywhere! Not just nice quiet dogs..loud little shits that snap & cry & howl at everything. They say they have a security system...far from it. They have a few cameras but nothing that makes me feel safe. Random people walk through the building on a regular basis. Don't rent here If I could give no stars I would read more

My husband and I relocated from Cali to VA and needed to find a place without being able to see it before moving in. Jessica was very helpful and sent plenty of pictures. We were pretty confident before moving in. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised on how nice the area and building was. We never saw one bug in the 7 months we were there (which is HUGE FOR ME!). The views from the property are amazing. They are in a prime location! We wish they sold their units because we really would have stayed for years. The only reason why we left was because we needed more space for our growing family. read more

I can't wait to move out of here! It looks nice at a glance...waterfront, pool, etc. The worst part about this place are the residents. It's billed as dog friendly, but you'll find very few friendly dogs here. Most of the dogs are cooped up all day and are poorly socialized. There are at least three different dogs living here that have attacked my dog for no reason at all! I have to peer around corners before taking him out to avoid the aggressive dogs. On top of this, the dog runs are consistently covered in dog poop. Management takes poop samples for each dog upon move in under the guise that they'll DNA test it and fine people, but that's clearly not a deterrent. If people are too lazy to pick up their dogs waste when there are poop bags literally provided, then they shouldn't have dogs. The extra star is because Jessica the leasing agent is very nice and I think they're understaffed to enforce a lot of what the rules are. I feel bad for some of the things she has to deal with. read more

We have loved living here. The location is amazing and the views are great. Jessica at the leasing office is the best leasing agent I have ever had. She goes above and beyond with customer service. And the maintenance is always done within 24 hours of putting in the request. Love this place. read more

I just renewed my lease, this will be 4th year living at Riverview Lofts and I'm very happy. I love my 16 foot ceilings and floor plan and the amenities including marble countertops, the upper deck, the pool, in unit washer and dryer and garage parking. The location really works for me being off the beaten path but still having easy access to Ghent and downtown. When I've had a problem that's needs to be addressed, management has been prompt to resolve the issue. Part of that management team is Jessica: she makes living here home!!! read more

I was going to rent here but looking at these reviews I will not be coming here! Thank you to all that tell the truth! I felt it was kind of weird that their "office" is literally a basic table you can buy from Walmart or something. Not a desk :/ and their courtyard looks sad , I was kind of skeptical about the situation since it felt like a scheme and I'm glad I came to yelp and didn't rely solely on google reviews! read more

I have only been here a few month but love it! I love my unit and the neighbors I have met so far. There are great areas to get together inside and outside of the building and my dog loves the big park nearby. He thinks it's his own private park since hardly anyone ever there. Would highly recommend this building. read more

Random people walk through the building on a regular basis. The new property manager, J***y is the laziest, most untrustworthy person. She was overheard on several occasions telling a resident about another residents financial information & personal information, extremely unprofessional!!! She, among other things has been the downfall of this building. She constantly sends emails stating they are handling all the residents concerns, when in reality she brushes it under the rug. And because of the dog area surrounding the building, this place smells like urine & feces. Don't be fooled by the tour they give you, it's not all its cracked up to be. Yes the apartments look good but the atmosphere is unbearable. Trust me and many other reviewers, you can get something more affordable and more pleasant to live in around norfolk. KEEP LOOKING!
