It's just one of those visits I never look forward to... maybe years of braces left me a little traumatized, who knows. My husband also needed an appointment, but he kept saying he'd just continue seeing his previous dentist out of state. We do travel there quarterly, so it wasn't a huge deal, but I decided to call anyway. From the moment they answered the phone, I was impressed. The receptionist was warm, welcoming, and professional, which made it easy for me to go ahead and book the appointment. I received a confirmation the day before, and again, the communication was courteous and professional. I'll admit, I was still a bit hesitant, so I checked the reviews. I did notice some negative ones at first, but quickly realized those were tied to the previous dentist, not the current team. I'm so glad I gave them a chance. Dr. Chen and the entire staff were absolutely wonderful. The experience from start to finish was nothing short of excellent. I've always believed that when the first impression is strong, it reflects how much pride a business takes in both the small and big details and that definitely holds true here. People need to realize, things don't always work out where EVERYTHING is on time and by NO MEANS does any dentist office or medical office for that matter, have only one patient and everything runs smoothly. It just doesn't happen. The Hygienist was so kind and patient with you but most of all, the MOST professional but you still treated her terribly. Bluntly I found Newcastle Dentistry warm and cold. Dr. Rosanna and her dental assistant were the warm aspects. I thought they were great for the little time they saw me. I was a bit surprised to find their x-ray machine was a bit inadequate. The last office I went to was able to x-ray all my teeth. This one's machine was unable to. The dental hygienist was cold. At first she was friendly, even complimented my teeth, but then seemed to become very irritated when I told her I rarely flossed. She went from friendly conversation to being very short and snappish. I also didn't care for the layout. It basically is the assembly line format - a line of chairs separated by dividers. I could hear everything going on around me, all the drilling, all the motors whirling. It did not comfort me. Upon checking out I was reminded how much I missed my old dental office's office staff. They weren't great at anything else but I always left with a cheery goodbye. The receptionist here barely said two words and it was enough that I opted not to schedule a follow up appointment.
