I would not recommend Dr. Baird to any hypermobile patients. I came in recently very excited as a trans & two spirit person needing chiropractic services to find a a chiropractor who was also trans, I left my appointment injured, unable to rotate my neck, with half my face numb, in worse pain than when I came in and even having some new pain that began to form. I sent a text message to address this and immediately experienced medical gaslighting from Dr. Baird saying it was "normal to be sore" this was not soreness. Dr. Baird Hyperextended and subluxated my cervical spine and worsened the hip issues I came in to mediate. I cannot believe I just paid someone to injure me! I've had many chiropractic adjustments in the past with a handful of different providers before and I have never left an appointment feeling worse than when I came in or like I developed a new injury from the services provided. It is really upsetting to experience such a trauma to the body and turn around and experience medical gaslighting from someone in your own community. I was about 6 minutes late due to a car issue and this has me wondering if the misalignment/injury was out of frustration due to that. It is really upsetting and frustrating to receive the same malpractice, mistreatment, and gaslighting indigenous patients experience from the entire medical industry as native a trans patient from a provider who is trans themselves, but that just goes to show who in the community he is willing to exceptionally serve. I am so shocked he has such good reviews. I felt obligated to say something so no other hypermobile/EDS clients go here and potentially end up with a worse injury than they came in with. I will now likely have to spend hundreds more dollars in bodywork and medical interventions to address and mitigate the issues the adjustment with Dr. Baird has caused. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND read more

Came to see Dr. Sandy last Wednesday to fix my troublesome foot. You see I injured something; twisting it running for a BART one morning 3 months ago and it just hasn't felt right ever since. The online booking was very convenient - requires no credit card or other annoying registration; just pick a time and show up! Easy! That's what I like! Location is easy to get to (near Lake Merritt) and I had no trouble finding metered parking ($2/hr). Sandy was very friendly, professional, and concerned about my foot. She had water for me and assisted me with all the forms. Then went on to take a good look at the foot and A.R.T. it. I liked that Dr. Sandy was humble and listened very well and that the space was inviting and warm. She was also one of the first Chiropractors I've met that didn't try and up sell me. Not sure if you know the type but I find a lot of Chiropractors try and push treatments on you and justify why you need whatever package. If you see a bowling ball in a Chiro's office don't ask! Gosh I hate to be up sold when it comes to health. Sandy didn't do any of that. She simply promised to take good care of me and gave me exercises to take home with me and try. She did this active release technology to it and she seems pretty confident she can fix it all up. So far the next day the foot has been good. I will update this review when she is all tickety-boo. I have been a patient of Sandy Baird for about 5 years and have used her services on and off during that time. She has a great practice, combining impeccable ethics, a calm and kind bedside manor, high skill level, and a conscientious approach. She employs a combination of soft tissue manipulation, active release technique, Graston technique, and traditional chiropractic, depending on what is needed. I find active release technique to be especially helpful. She will also give you exercise recommendations for self care, which I have found to be helpful in terms of core strengthening. There were two times that I was in desperate need of her treatment due to severe back spasms. One of these times which was so debilitating that I couldn't move around. She doesn't make house calls or do treatment outside of her usual schedule, so I had to drag myself to the office after 2 days (she did return my inquiries rapidly and her tone was understanding and compassionate). The first treatment with Sandy improved the problem rapidly. A few more treatments, and I was free and clear of the pain. I have also used her for routine maintenance, and generally feel much better after treatment. Sandy does not have an administrative staff - the sign up process is entirely automated - but she has it organized very well - I have never had an appointment cancellation from her, and there is always availability. She does not accept insurance and the rates are market rate so you will be paying out of pocket - but this is the case for soft tissue work in general. Sandy really knows what she is doing, and also has a very soothing and gentle personality. If you need solutions to muscle pain and spasms, repetitive strain injury, or other soft tissue issues, you will be very happy that you worked with her. read more

I was a patient of Dr Baird a year ago for a repetitive strain/excessive computing injury. It had been five years of frequent pain, a trip to a specialist, ineffective physical therapy etc. Dr Baird treated me for a few months and absolutely restored my range of motion and freed me from pain.
