The only thing the place could do with is a little bit more atmosphere but I suspect that to be largely due to the staff and clientele that frequent the tea rooms.

Lunch bags for the kids was perfect for their ages and had lots of choices. The tea shop is run by best friends Sue and Pat, who are very welcoming and have a passion for people. The Honey Pot isn't just a Tea shop that sells lovely homemade scones, toasties and lovely brews but also has great gifts and cards to purchase. My Brother and I, took my Nana there to meet our family friends. Where we enjoyed a lovely toastie and a jam and cream scone, just what the doctor ordered for a Sunday afternoon - perfect. Even though the Honey Pot is small, I think it works to its advantage, it compliments its traditional English quaintness, with its friendly locals whilst not being over done with tourists. The cyclists seem to love to stop for a recharge. So if you are cycling in the area through the country, you will be welcomed by the smell of homemade goodness and a smile. We purchase more than a coffee, we purchase into a pleasurable experience and a great service. I have several food intolerances so when asking about the ingredients in their homemade cakes I got a message back via the waitress that she can't guarantee the cakes were free from what I was intolerant to. As people with food intolerances are always ending up having to go without gorgeous food, I asked if I could have more detail of what was in the cakes so I could make a decision on what it was I could or couldn't eat, just in case there was something I could have. This was very obviously an inconvenience to the waitress and the manager who had baked them. She tried again to say she couldn't guarantee anything because obviously this was the quickest way to solve the issue for herself, but after explaining that I'd like to try to see if there was something I could eat, it was again very plain that I was wasting her time. It was late afternoon and they weren't busy, so I would have appreciated a couple of minutes of her time without the attitude. After finding out there was indeed a piece of cake I could eat, I sat down to enjoy it only to be served it with more attitude by the waitress. If she could have got away with grunting at me I sure she would have! I unfortunately had to ask for a pot of hot water as the tea didn't come with one, and AGAIN got a look saying 'are you bothering me again?!'. Cleanliness was also not great with tea-stained table clothes, dying roses on the table, and also dust on the teapot holding the roses which was next to an open sugar bowl which no doubt had the same amount of dust in it! Also, amazingly, a dog walking around the kitchen area with it's bed behind the serving counter!! (Yes, I am about to inform environmental health dept!!) Lastly, my table was being cleared before I had finished. I did notice however, that the other table still in there didn't have their table touched, so I'm guessing that was a touch of nastiness from the waitress also. I was there looking for a place to take 18-20 friends for my birthday which is coming up soon as we fancied a gorgeous afternoon tea, but we will definitely be going somewhere else after that experience!

All she wanted for her birthday was a nice afternoon tea. We left London and were basically driving sort of toward the coast just stopping wherever we found a tea shop. Unfortunately, every tea shop we hit was closed because of some bank holiday we were unaware of. Except one! We got to Glynde, parked outside this tea shop, went in, and found a large sign that said "cash only". OMG this wasn't our day. We had to go to the next town over to use the ATM which sucked, but we weren't in any hurry and we really liked the look and feel here. We came back, got seated, opened the menu, and right at the top it said afternoon tea available with reservation only. We were devastated. I saw the look in my wife's eye and there was no way I was not getting her this afternoon tea! I approached the woman working and explained our situation and before I could even fight for the experience she told me not to worry, she would get us taken care of. BLESS HER! We had a wonderful visit and would recommend the experience to everyone in the area. Fast forward to this year. I knew how much my wife loved that visit and decided to reach out and ask if they had any ideas of what I could get her for her birthday this year. Joanne reached back out with an amazing gift and shipped it to us and it amazingly arrived on her birthday! She also included a nice birthday card for her! Amazing people that went out of their way twice to make us happy. They will forever be apart of our story and hopefully we have the chance to return soon! Thank you!!!

Still, I indulged in some scones with cream and strawberry jam, paired with a strong cup of decaf English breakfast tea. So want something slightly different then check this place out. The Café at Wrattens serves simple food, done well from fresh wholesome home-made cakes to bacon butties alongside quality coffees, teas and soft drinks. In fact this place gave me the best tea I have ever had in any cafe / tea room. I also love the wooden tables, beige/brown colour scheme and the fact that they make their own food. The scones were lovely and the cakes and tarts... well, where on earth do you start?? The tea was good - we all had good old English breakfast. We did ask for more hot water, which did not materialize, but I think we were all done by then anyway. They will pack up the left-overs for you to take home without any fuss. They also have a nice little gift shop. Parking might be a challenge if school is in session and about to let out as there is only street parking and a school across the road.
