Please be aware when you order a chicken sandwich from Kong Dog, that it looks the same as the menu shows before taking it and fucking devouring it. The fucking sandwich had a patty that looked like a frozen one they serve in school lunches. It's overall flavor is fucking ass.. not even gas!!! I don't recommend these fuck ass sandwiches. I recommend the Korean corn dogs instead! I paid 23 mother fucking dollars for this meal, just for it to taste like absolute dog water. 0 out of 10, don't fucking recommend. read more

The service in here is on point 100% it is clean ane the cashiers, butchers, managers are is extremely helpful I highly recommend this store, it has been here for decades I know why! Aside from being an overpriced Ma and Pa grocery store in an affluent suburb. This place sells Delta 8 cbd gummies by 'Mesabee' but they're actually just regular Cbd gummies. Don't tend to leave reviews, but I had been house sitting a friends house in Riverside recently. While walking their dog, my wife and I stumbled upon this store. What a secret goldmine for the city. I live in Chicago off Division and Ashland, where Jewel and Mariano's are our staple corporate stores and occasionally shop at Trader Joe's when it's not jam packed. Riverside Foods was a breeze to walk through and enjoy myself shopping in. Employees were generous with smiles and their time answering questions (and giving recommendations). It was what you see in movies and TV shows for small towns where everyone knows eachother. Riverside won me over. Prices were great (once again I pay $8 for eggs in city on avg).... Having a nice and clean store like this with top quality meats, great assortment of house needs and don't let me forget my sugar fix by piling on snacks from their baked goods.... This place has it all. Secret cherry on top.... Found some amazing wines I couldn't even get in the city at Binnys and an assortment of whiskies and bourbon only connoisseurs would know of. Huge props to this lovely shop. Also realized they DELIVER TO CHICAGO from Riverside via Instacart. We live in mid-north Indiana, so we only stop in when traveling through Chicago; and for a rather specific reason. They carry prasky, smoked butt and (sometimes) jaternice. This may not mean much to many; but for an old Bohemian like me, it's a way to reconnect to one's past. These are Czech meats that are not available where we reside, so we make use of the opportunity whenever it arises. The store is clean and well-maintained, and the staff are always friendly and accommodating; for us it's definitely worth stopping in. read more

Riverside Foods thrives as a valuable resource to the Riverside and surrounding communities. It has been in operation by multiple generations of the same family for more than 40 years. Always a pleasant place to shop. Unique product offerings especially in the beer and wine aisle. Meat is always fresh and you can actually talk to a butcher who is eager to help. I love checking out independently owned grocery stores, and we will definitely come back to shop in the future! This store has a nice selection of produce,meats and other groceries. We found a great sale on chicken breast, for example. Produce seemed a bit more pricey, but could get the job done none the less. Filbert's (Chicago owned soda company) has made a few soda's especially for them, so that was fun to try! We were impressed by the craft beer selection as well. The aisle isn't even a full aisle- the back half has chips and popcorn (a genius combination, in my opinion), but the selection is varied, local and GREAT. Definitely would come back just for that! I love this store. Independently owned, easy parking, small footprint but they somehow still manage to have everything you need including many speciality items. I really appreciate that they offer half loaves of fresh bread and smaller quantities of fresh meat. The quality is wonderful and their prices are extremely reasonable. The cashiers seem to know many customers by name. It's such a stark comparison to battling it out at the local Jewel or Tony's with their crazy parking lots, long lines and where everything seems to be sold in bulk. This is a 2nd generation family owned gourmet food mart. There is nothing these guys won't try to keep you coming back. I don't eat meat and yet everything I need is here. Organic vegetables and fruit, cheese, milk. When we have our farm stand here they will have locally grown and sourced produce and items from the market day. They always have some racks up front with some deals they have found for the price conscious shopper. I am surrounded by all chains and I rarely need to look elsewhere. They will deliver and as I write we are shut in for Covid isolation. They have special hours for the elderly or at risk. This is what community is all about. Their bakery just gets better and better. If you bake they have everything you need. Great spice selection. The wine, beer cider selection is amazing. They often have a vendor with samples. This is really a curated store in every aisle. These are millenial second gen owners and they keep this place up to date in every way and I expect this will continue. It is so worth supporting a local business as well but I would stop here just to see what how they keep this place in the mix! read more

This place is like a sparkly diamond, a true, real life gem! You can take every Whole Foods, Mariano's, Valli Produce, Caputo's and Trader Joe's in the western burbs roll them into one and they will never ever match the charm or customer service of Riverside Foods. This is one of the few independent grocery stores located in a suburban downtown where folks can walk to and from with their little pull cart in tow. I love that! They have so many choices of items not found elsewhere. Read through the reviews and you'll see what I mean. I love the smallness of it, I love the small beer and liquor selection. Their produce department is not the size of Soldier Field. Their deli is not the size of Wrigely Field (yep, talking about you Valli and Caputo's!) Their employees are all friendly and helpful and do not turn over week. I am jealous of Riverside residents. Once I moved on I have never lived in a place with a grocery store like this within walking distance. They have a parking lot if you opt to drive there instead of walking. I looked over some negative reviews here and got sick to my stomach. What happened to common sense? Your correct, Riverside Foods will charge more than Jewel, the product selection will never match Meijer and you will not find a canyon size Costco isle to buy 5 gallons of baked beans! This is a small family operated grocery store providing convenience for locals with the hope to pay their monthly electric bill! Riverside Foods sells several specialty items, a few that draw my interest...one of the few distributors of Journeyman Distillery products in the Chicago area and Daisy Brand Sausage Products, specifically the attached link hot dogs cut to order...not vacuum packed...a rare find in my area. A trip to Riverside is not convenient to me, however I will make the trip on an early Saturday Morning to stock up on DB Hot Dogs, a sweet onion or two, some tomato and Chicago Style hot dog fixin's. Always interesting to view several bottles of Journeyman Rye wobbling along the vintage cashier check out belt at 7:45 A.M. The cashier always smiles. The Manager loves it while the locals in the check out line all chime in with jealous laughter. If your a local, spend some time (and money) and enjoy! read more

Stopped in a few weeks back to grab a couple things on my way to a friends BBQ. Was hoping to grab just a 12 pack of Lite and some ice not really expecting a whole lot in terms beer selection. But, when I got to the beer aisle, my mouth dropped and was absolutely stunned by the selection of craftbeer they have. This little grocery store that's been here forever has a beer selection that rivals Binny's or Famous in Forest Park (they're even on beermenus.com). Great prices and very friendly. I felt inclined to write a review update after my trip to the Foods today. First things first: When I visited Hawaii, I discovered a new favorite dessert: mochi ice cream from a place called Bubbies. The last time I went to Bubbies while on my trip, I was sad because I knew that I would not be able to eat my newly discovered favorite frozen treat back at home in the Chicago suburbs. Or so I thought! While perusing the frozen section at Riverside Foods today, I was absolutely stunned to see that genuine Bubbies ice cream mochi from Hawaii was being sold. Never in my wildest dreams did I think my favorite treat from my exotic vacation would show up in the aisle of my local suburban grocer. As if that weren't exciting enough, I also discovered that pureed acai was also being sold in the frozen section, which I have been looking for to make acai bowls. Undeterred by the somewhat hefty price tags for both items,I purchased a container of eight chocolate mint ice cream mochi and the four acai packets, and practically skipped my way home. Every time I go to the Foods, I see big improvements in terms of the quality and diversity of items sold. All the Foods needs now is to make improvements in the quality of organic produce (fruits and veggies seem to last two days, tops) and it will be good to go. As long as acai and Bubbies are on sale, I will be one happy customer with an enthusiastic five-star rating! read more

I might add (in regards to comment about their deli), to make sure the employee changes their gloves before they handle your food. Maybe they've improved their practice, but I've been there a few times where I had to ask them to do so because they were handling other items with previously used gloves and then reach into the counter for the meat or cheese. And yes, some items are pricy, but their sale prices are very competitive. read more

Visited only due to Groupon. Prices we felt were on the high side for groceries so to make sure our deal didnt go to waste we stocked up on meat which again seemed rather high. Nice lil village store, clean and well stocked. Nightmare to get to, the streets arent driver friendly, actually got lost trying to get home. Pleasantly surprised with this place. I have not been here in about 23 years, but I recently moved back to the area and was told I should check it out. I try to shop at local places and while I can walk to Tischlers I must drive here. It is totally worth it though. They have organic produce, local baked items, decent meats and a small but still worthwhile liquor and beer section. The day I went there there was a distillery doing samples of bourbon from Indiana. I wish I lived closer so I could walk, but either way I will be back. Recommended. read more

I've become a fan of this little place over the past six months or so because it's so convenient to run into on my way home from work. It's small enough to get in and out of quickly and the employees actually SPEAK to me . . . and are pleasant! I like the produce and love that I can get Boar's Head meats & cheeses there. I've also gotten some really good deals on their day old rolls (I can usually find a bag for under $1) and fruits/veggies. They seem to be working on adding more gluten-free and organic items also. What an improvement I started going there 5 years ago. They're trying to become a mini-Treasure Island. Limited space will hold them back a little. You only get 2 brands to choose from instead of a larger selection that a larger store provides. read more

Riverside foods is a gem. They have the best thin-sliced pork ever which is delicious with their three mushroom packs in the fresh vegetable section. In the terrific deli section they can make up a Boar's Head beef on rye with lettuce, tomato, and a slice of munster cheese and they throw in a pickle or chips. Also stocked, are S&W candied fruits year round which I use in my grandmother's English fruitcake recipe. Everyone is unfailingly kind and friendly. I found Japanese wasabi peas there. Great cheese table. I love this place. There is always something new, exotic, and tasty. Definite 5 stars. read more

I'm all for supporting local mom and pop stores, but not when they charge triple the going price of something because they're based in an affluent town full of people who are dumb enough to pay those prices out of convenience. Before I moved to Riverside I never knew the joy of a local store like Riverside Foods. I love this place for so many reasons, like the super friendly customer service. When ever I walk in I am greeted with recognition and a friendly smile. Yes, they take the time to get to know their customers, if not by name, by face and purchases. I love love LOVE the freshly baked bread EVERY day! The wine & cheese selection is pretty good and they strive to bring in new products from local wineries & breweries. Did I mention the tastings? RF hosts wine and beer tastings throughout the year so keep an eye on their calendar of events. A good butcher is hard to find these days but look no further. Need a special cut of meat? Something locally sourced, organic, special order? Look no further! Ask at the deli or find Peter and they are happy to work with you to get exactly what you need. Local anyone? RF works with farmers and companies to source local produce, meat and milk and other stuff. I'm pretty sure Peter knows which field and cows our organic milk comes from. And did you know this is one of the ONLY places around where you can find pasteurized organic milk? Most places only sell the "Ultra" pasteurized which takes much different i.e. like cooked milk... Whether it's a weekly milk/bread run, something for dinner, cheese and ice for a party or ordering a fresh organic turkey for the holiday's, there's no place better than Riverside Foods! read more

If they didn't stock my absolutely favorite gin in the world, I might give 3 stars. I don't visit often, but when I do it's usually to pick up a bottle of Journeyman's Bilberry Black Hearts Gin, from a micro-distillery in SW Michigan. The only place I've seen that carries it locally. Best, in my opinion, for fresh things (veggies, fruits, meats, salads) because I think the quality is good. High-ish prices for the "regular" stuff. Then again, what do you expect for a place this size? And don't forget that it's in Riverside. Nuff said. read more

Found this little Gem while looking for Craft Beer. I hate to say it, but they have stuff that Binnys doesnt carry. After reading some of the other reviews. YES! it is not cheapest place in the world, but cmon, you want cheap go to ALDI, you want to blow your whole check . WHOLE FOODS. I think this place is awesome just for beer alone and they got these awesome mugs that say "RIVERSIDE BEER GEEKS" Totally bad ass. Great neighborhood grocery store with helpful friendly staff and wide selection of goods. When I couldn't find a certain cheese, I emailed them and sure enough they let me know the cheese changed brands and was back in stock within 24 hours. This is a sweet local grocery store.--the old fashioned kind. They recognize you when you walk in and always say hello. You can do an entire shop in 20 minutes or make a quick stop and be out in less than 5. The cashiers chit-chat with you, the management remembers you. If you want an item they don't have, ask the manager and he will actually order it and carry it. Truly--if you ask, they will stock it if possible. My only objection is that I don't like the fluorescent lighting (perhaps someday I'll mention that to management). Their produce has gotten better in selection over the years, fresher, including organics and heirloom tomatoes. You'll find specialty items, fine cheeses, etc. Just keep in mind that it's not Whole Foods, it's not Jewel or Cosco. The fact that it's small and local means it's going to cost a bit more. Not nearly as much as Whole Foods but more than Jewel. You can't buy in enormous bulk, they won't have every brand under the sun, and there's no vapor spray misting the vegetables. We do a lot of our shopping here and are delighted to support this local business. Also: For the reviewer below who graded this store down because they got lost in Riverside, you can reach Riverside Foods by taking Harlem to Burlington. Turn west on Burlington, drive a couple of blocks, the store in on your right. To leave, head east back to Harlem. So, it's one turn, and then straight. Is that really so hard? read more
