Apart from her surly manner I found her to be rude and almost matter of fact. I am a US Citizen and was in disbelief that the questions relating to proof of Citizenship was not questioned. Or requested on her agenda. illegal residents should not be allowed to apply for Medi Cal. more importantly they should not be here in the first place. Miss Celia(I think that was her name, desk next to the corner) IS arrogant, dismissive and unwelcoming. I was confused about which program I needed help with and received no guidance, which made the process more difficult. She made a comment about customers needing to "smile more," clearly directed at me and spoken loudly enough to be heard, which was rude and unprofessional. When my visit was finished, she did not call my ticket number or name and instead pointed at me while speaking with coworkers. She avoided eye contact and returned my card in a dismissive manner. My mom who is 82 years old forgot to check one box on there renewal form they canceled her. When we went to reinstate it. She told the worker I'm 82 years old and hungry how can wait 3 days for my stamps. The lady proceeded to tell her that's not her concern it will be 4 to 4 business days. This is the office in Lake Elsinore where they never answer there phones and are really short with the public. They new going into this job they would be dealing with the public. Departments throughout Riverside county failed their duty of care and blocked me from healthcare, violated disability rights, federal medicaid laws and caused detrimental injury. What will department of public social services do to you? They'll f***** KICJ YOU when you're down. They will tell you, oh well, you have $200 in you bank now. So that's counted as income.We can't have you getting $325 a month, because you need $0 in your bank account. This place is meant to be helpful for the people but somewhere along the lines, the employees decided that they no longer need their empathy and would much rather look at their job as nothing but a paycheck. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time 5 years ago and the social worker who handled her case was helpful and kind. She helped my mother fill out the forms due to the language barrier my mother faces. Fast forward to February of this year and my mother finds a lump on her other breast. The doctor confirmed that it was cancer again. This time the cancer is back stronger than last time and so my mother again decided to reach out for help from DPSS. To her surprise, her case was assigned to an awful person (if you can even call her a person since people have feelings, she lacked them). She informed my mother that due to my stepdads "high" income she no longer qualified for medical benefits... unless they took out my brothers income from her paperwork. She said she tried to find a way but it was impossible and therefore there was nothing she could do. These people are ridiculous! My mother kept asking her if there were any programs available to her that she might be able to qualify for or if she knew of any resources that might be able to help her. That lady was as useless as a belly button after birth!! I mean all she kept telling her was and I quote, "Senora, no hay nada que puedo hacer, no hay nada para ti" (translates to "Woman, there is nothing I can do, there is nothing for you). I knew that my moms life was on the line and so after many sleepless nights, google became my best friend and so I decided to call up the many programs I found through google and came across a program called BCCTP through the California website. The only down side was that in order to apply for the program, she had to step foot into this god awful place once again. I gave her a little prompt on what to tell the case worker this time when going in and inquiring about the program. She spoke with another case worker and my mother told me that the case worker was very surprised when she brought up BCCTP to her. She informed her that she would like to apply for BCCTP since she was unable to qualify for medical since my step dad makes $200 more dollars above the cut off low income bracket. (Which by the way another case worker's brilliant solution to this was to tell her husband to not work so many hours... uh hello genius, how are they going to afford to make ends meet?? They need those $200 extra dollars. Every penny counts. Anyway, this is a story for another day). The case worker asked my mother if she had breast cancer!!!! What!!! LADY!!! HAVE YOU NOT READ YOUR NOTES!!?? Shouldn't that information be included in my mothers record/paperwork? I mean why else would she be in there every week trying to apply for benefits only to be denied every time!!! Why!! Just because she enjoys having to wait in the waiting room for 2+ hours to be called on only to be turned away!!??? What I am trying to get at is that this location does not need employees who lack empathy and all they see when people walk in are dollar bills or cows like in a cattle. I am so beyond frustrated and fed up with the stories my mother tells me about this place! My mother has now missed two chemo appointments all because the case workers are unable to take their time in looking into people's accounts to see that they are human! Please please please I am begging, get rid of the clowns who are only there for the money and hire some people with empathy who actually want to help the community especially when it comes to ones health. It is of high importance to treat everyone with kindness and patience, it goes a long way. C'mon now! Get your act together! This goes to the case workers directly, if you feel like you have no energy or motivation and lack empathy please go look for another job. So many people with empathy and looking to make a difference in the world would love to have your seat since you are no longer interested in helping people. Time to give up your seat to someone who will actually help people in need and just look for another career. I hear Amazon is hiring and hey! you don't need empathy to work there! They have robots!!! This place is a nightmare, and corrupt as well. I applied for GA, I 100% qualify. I uploaded all of my documents, nothing else was needed according to their website, and my request was listed as pending for 3 weeks. Today I checked and my GA application just said denied. No explanation, nothing. I did everything right, and I absolutely qualify. Denied. If you call the helpline it rings a few times then they just pick up and hang up. Not only do these people not help you at all, they give you false hope then pull the rug out for absolutely no reason. There is something extremely shady going on here, and I have a good guess as to who gets benefits and who doesnt. Citizens who need sunscreen do not get benefits, period. read more

My 83 yr old Veteran father has been getting Calfresh for years. He worked his whole life, payed taxes, served this country and they give him $16 a month for food. Wow. They prefer to give hundreds a month to able bodied people who never contributed to the system, are criminals or drug addicts and don't want to work. Nice. On top of that, every time we have to recertify, they somehow never get his application.. that I personally helped him complete and I dropped off inside the Post Office 1.5 months before the deadline. He then gets a letter stating he didn't return his papers, so he is denied. When you try to call the "case worker" every day, she doesn't return your message and then the rest of the week her mailbox is full. Try to do the automated phone system and get disconnected after it states there is no account for him. Call the general number and that county worker acts like you're bothering her and won't help even when I state the "case workers" voice mail box is full for a week. She states you should then call the supervisor, but won't give me a supervisors number. Typical county worker. No compassion for legitimate tax payers that need assistance. read more

I've never had an agency just flat out ignore my phone calls and attempts to contact them like this. My case was transferred from LA at a weird time (right before an SAR was supposed to happen) and by the time Riverside County finally mailed me an EBT card, I had "missed" the deadline to report my changes. I called all the time for like 6 weeks leaving messages for my case worker. All I was doing was begging to update my information. Tried calling the workers supervisor since they say to do that if you don't get a return call within 24 hours. But that voicemail box is full. So I call the supervisors supervisor and that number leads no where at all/is out of service. On the website my benefits said "discontinued" so then I decided to apply again hoping I'd at least get a different worker who'd return my calls. More calls made, no calls back. Finally by sheer luck saw a cal fresh pop up booth on UCR campus and frantically explained my situation. Worker at the booth says you never did your SAR. I said yeah I tried to call you to do it but no one ever called me back. She said well then apply again. I said I did! The worker then told me oh well they threw out your application because your initial case had been still active, "we're not going to accept an application if you have an open case." Like ok great but ma'am why would I apply on your website if not for the fact of seeing "discontinued" in capital letters on my case... she really acted like I had applied for kicks knowing I had an active case. She was like "your benefits were there, idk why you didn't use them, but they're been there for weeks." Ma'am because YOUR website told me I had none! So finally I'm like, okay, am I good to go, the case is active? Can I tell you my updates? She's like oh no it actually did JUST expire now bc we didn't have your updated info, so you have to apply again (if you're head hurts trying to understand, me too.) But okay fine. Applied again. Get a letter in the mail on 11/2 saying I have an appointment 11/3 (literally less than 24 hr notice ) but it's during class so I can't do it. At least there's a new worker with a phone number to call to reschedule, right? NOPE. The number they sent, in their letter, DOES NOT WORK. You literally get a "version wireless cannot service this number" auto message. So I call the generic number for the local office hoping I can reach someone, leave a message, anything. And then I just enter my phone number and SSN and case number over and over again to the bot in circles and it never sends me to a message machine or person, just hangs up on me after I said "representative." I'm sorry but how is this acceptable, I know it's a tough field and there's a lot of demand, but LA has a way bigger population and at least they didn't actively work against us. I'm at my wits ends idk what to do! between work and class I don't have an easy time finding a free day to show up in person! seriously I can't even express how many tears I've cried over how frustrating this is I'm afraid I'm going to get my benefits taken away from me or even worse accused of fraud for not updating my info but I literally cannot make any progress. -0 stars. VERY DISAPPOINTING. We are in desperate need of food & financial help. Case worker Stephanie Rodriguez denied my application bcuz "I didn't send it in" BUT I DID. I also completed my interview and turned in ALL proof asked for BY the cut off date. I received a denial the BEFORE MY PROOF WAS DUE. It's been 5 business days since I have been trying to get a call back for HELP. I uploaded a note for help and a call back. I called and left voice messages multiple times a day, multiple days in a row asking for help and a call back. No call back from case worker or HER SUPERVISOR KIM ZARAGOSA. I called the 877 number and get hung up on by automated service. I was trying to get ahold of my worker and/or her supervisor to make sure I did everything correctly to AVOID being denied. Now I'm denied and still can't get ahold of anyone. There is NO WAY I WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE RIGHT NOW. My circumstances and proof are definitely in compliance to be approved. Frustrating and very stressful. I would like to know besides appealing this, who can I report this negligence to? If anyone knows please help me. I will be doing my research to find out as well. read more

The applicants aren't the fraudsters the county workers are.What's the point of filling out the online application when the worker changes all your original answers and puts whatever they want to during the phone interview? You check it afterwards and the answers aren't anything like your original answers and what you've talked about or input online.Most are Shady and lazy!They'll retaliate if you call supervisor on them or just deny you for a fake reason they created just to get a case load off their desk.Think they've been hiring anyone now a days.Social work should be a person with compassion and understanding and should handle each case individually not just automatically group people asking for help as all trying to sneak and lie to get a free hand out! Most of them need to find a new job if they hate what they do especially in the field they are in.It's hard enough to put your pride aside and ask for help let alone have to FIGHT them for it!!! You tell the 100% truth and they'll twist it just to deny you.now wonder why people have to lie to get help now a days!!
