California... you'll always be an icon of growth, struggle, determination, overcoming; my personal…read moredefinition of perseverance. Between the three SoCal counties closest to beaches: Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles - Riverside was the most affordable. Thought out decisions have brought me to leave CA all in all. When we moved from the expensive bay area, I chose to live in Riverside cuz I fell in love with all the palm trees. I was infatuated with downtown's Festival of Lights during the winter holidays - went to see it every year. Loved the cozy feeling of having hot chocolate champorrado on a chilly evening. Found it cool to tell family that 'we live in the Inland Empire.' Thing is most my life in SoCal was spent in the OC for work. But I was able to find moments of discovery when I was home in Riverside. My favorite is Mount Rubidoux. Who knew serenity existed a few blocks away from downtown, busy freeway, a University campus, and nightlife? Riverside has some well knowns! Fox Theater, Monster energy drink warehouse, Kaiser hospital, historical orange groves. Then Corona... circle city as it's called. On a map the main streets are shaped like a sun with Grand as the "crown" and streets branch out from it. Reminds me of how children used to draw a sun on a piece of paper. Mountain views, alluring sunrises and sunsets. Atop a hill on a clear evening, sights of spectacular city lights. Just taking these little big things all in - city of Corona is deserving of its name. If you decide to visit Riverside County, I recommend you stay at the Marriott in downtown Riverside. I had done so when I was out here for job interviews. Marriott beds are like clouds. And they carry an aromatherapy line for their bathroom products. In Riverside, you'll find many things to do, including visiting museums and historical sights, a drive to Morongo Casino less than an hour away - next to the Cabazon Outlets, a drive to Santa Monica within an hour; close enough to Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm. It's not a 24 hour area, but I'll say it's just right. Welcome to the Inland Empire!

Only way to get any service is to go there in person.... and wait... and wait... and wait. Oh, bonus is you get to go through a security check run by rent-a-cops who think they are the secret service or something. County employees must have ultimate job security and can't get fired. They must not care about customer feedback. This is where our taxes go to. Pathetic.

CONTEXT For context, my younger brother was involved in an accident where a woman ran a red light while he was actively turning on a protected left turn. I received a call that he was involved and rushed my way over INTERACTION I was dropped off quickly to the scene and the first officer I engaged with yelled at me for my drop off location. I explained to him I did not know that was not allowed, was here for my brother, and I asked where we could be dropped off time. He cursed at me and continued to yell at me for this instead of listening to anything I had to say. I am actively telling him that I was unaware and I am trying to reach my younger brother who I have no idea is okay or not! He told me that did not matter and I needed to listen to him that I can't be dropped off at this location. His words included "Stop talking and listen to me," "I don't care about what you have to say, that's not important," and "stop talking I don't care about that, you can check on your brother later" with a sprinkle of F bombs. All of this because I was dropped off in a closed lane of the road THAT THEY SECTIONED OFF that no one was driving in. I can acknowledge that I was in the wrong of the drop off location if that is legally true (I also apologized for the drop off), but it's the manner of speaking and engagement that makes the whole interaction disgusting. Imagine if that was your family member in a totaled accident and an officer is more concerned with this than the well being of the drivers involved or the concern of their family members. This was NOT a matter of safety or protecting ongoing traffic. This was a power trip of a lazy and compassionless officer. Do better. Read the room and communicate better. A tragic car accident is not the time to yell and be aggressive. It is the time to be professional, empathetic, and show compassion. Train your officers better. He also continued to laugh and make jokes with cars passing by who were making fun of the accident. He was saying things like "Oh yeah not too bad huh?" And "Oh yeah this one's not too shabby isn't it?" with cars hollering by. Terrible officer along with the other men who were there. They all were sarcastic and asked us stupid questions. One had told us he was involved with traffic for 10 years before his current position. He asked us if the car is drivable. The car is clearly not drivable and you can see that. Every male officer was absolutely terrible. You can tell how they treat citizens in their community. The only officer who was professional and kind was the female traffic officer who came for statements.

No one seems to bother to help me and they keep telling me someone will be out there. It is a Thursday between the hours of 9am-11am. Whoever is in charge really does not care FOR The people. I've been to other sheriffs stations before and they helped me immediately, walked out with me and everything as soon as I stepped in. Here they give you a monotone speech of what to do, only cash and call a number. Ridiculous.
