I was really excited when I saw the Riverside Centre- a large cream building right by the bridge in the centre of Lewes' shopping street, a converted warehouse turned into a commercial space- here, I thought was an antique's market, one of those cavernous places with lots of stalls of possible treasure. So I was a little disappointed to find that in fact it has been divided up into a small downstairs take-away cafe, a large upstairs sit-down cafe and a few little shops- a florits, an art gallery. I quicklyrecovered though when I realised I'd found a new source of coffee and cake, and some lovely looking homemade soup in the cafe upstairs, with a nice view of the river. read more
