Getting gas here is a chore now…read more OK, so now you can pump your own gas in Oregon. I don't have a problem with that. But I DO have a problem with pumps that can take cards, but don't, with no attendants, forcing you to walk quite a ways across a lot into another building out of view of your car and wait in line. When you go to insert your card you're met with a little screen that says "Machine not currently taking cards. Please pay inside" or something like that. Even though the machine has a card reader, and I've used it before in the past under previous ownership. So OK, cool no problem. My legs aren't broken. I'll just walk inside. Now I have to wait in line at least 10 minutes behind people humming and hawing at what they want out of the deli case. Or to stare blankly at the menu as if they've never seen or heard of chicken on a stick before. I do finally get up there. I hand the kid my card. "How's it going? I'd like some gas. Fill on pump three please" He asks me how much? I say "a fill, I want to fill it up please" Then he asked me, well do you know like what dollar amount that's gonna be?. Really man? No, that's kind of what you're supposed to tell me after the car has been filled up. So they don't have the technology to put an authorization on my card, and then charge me what the total is when I'm done pumping the gas? Am I the only person that ever comes in and asks them to fill it up? Really? I say "Just give me $10" Only $10? "Yes please, thanks." (Just give me enough to get up the road to someplace that knows how gas stations are supposed to work.)

The sun was shining as we drove through Willamette National Forest, then past Detroit Lake. I didn't think to stop for gas and got critically low, with no service to help me find out where the next station was. I was completely stressed out, until I saw that we were approaching Mill City, somewhere I'd been before. My phone finally got a signal, and I located this station 2 miles down the road. My fuel light was on the last bar as I pulled into the station. The attendant was great, and filled my car up for $3.09. We hit the road again, relieved to have survived that close call. The sky grew cloudy, but we were safe, and almost home.

Nothing like heading home relaxed to get a large dose of attitude from someone who simply wasn't paying attention. She thought I was pulling (backing) in from the wrong side. Didn't realize I was simply moving the car closer after pulling in too far off the pump to let the wife out. She went out of her way to tell me to go ahead and get my fuel someplace else and that the next station was 16 miles away, as if I didn't know where I was. She also made a point of pulling her jacket open so I could read her name tag as she announced at high volume that her name is SAM. Ok Sam, good on you for running me off. I'll be sure to tell everyone I know what fine customer service skills you have. The most ridiculous part - there was no one at the pump behind me so even if I had backed in, to simply ask me to not do that again would have led to her realizing that I hadn't done it in the first place. When you come at someone with all that attitude there probably won't be much conversation Sammy ... Their prices are great, but I'll spend $4.00 more next time and skip the attitude.

I absolutely hate the smell of McDonald's so it was kind of gross to have that smell into the Mainline Station as well. But they had lots of snacks and convenient store goods there for purchase. I could think of NOTHING but using the restroom. I was actually crying in the car hoping some liquid might be emptied from me if I cried I was THAT desperate. Unfortunately there was a LONG line to use the restroom but I was experiencing at least some relief from being that near. The restroom was moderately clean. About what you'd expect from the first real toilet for over 90 minutes of driving from Portland into Bend. I have nothing negative but nothing really positive. The toilet worked. But there was no soap to wash your hands so I had to use antibacterial spray/hand sanitizer when I got back to the car.

I then told cashier that if she is going to demand customers wear a mask, then perhaps she should wear hers properly. Daily shopper my entire life at this store. She works an early morning shift and EVERYTIME I would be served by her, she wore her mask under her nose. Now I never said anything because the whole mask thing is a joke, so I met her threat to kick me out by calling her out. I said if we are going to be demanded to "Play by the rules" then you have to play by the same rules. I was banned permanently from the store. And she never did fix her mask! Owners wife (I believe) was standing right there! I spend THOUSANDS of dollars there a year and have for a very long time, because I support my local business - NOT ANYMORE! Steer clear, the deli food sucks, and EVERYTHING in store is the HIGHEST price around from Barton to Estacada all the way up to Sandy. Their fuel is watered down and the Propane is the highest price for 10miles in every direction! Can YOU HEAR ME NOW!

So, I stopped by last Sunday 01/28/2023 at approx. 9:30 AM on my way to Church to get $10.00 worth…read moreof fuel, enough to get me to my destination. I started pumping gas, and 5 minutes later I was still at about $2.00. I went in to report to the people working in there that something might be wrong with the pump. The guy looked down at what I assume is something that can read the pump pumping. He says to me, " Well, you can move to another pump, but I can't promise you it will be any faster." I said to him, "you might want to go put a sign on that pump saying that it's out of order. His answer, " Well, what if it starts working again" smfh, REALLY!!! I spent 5 years of my life pumping fuel in the 70s and 80s. I'm almost positive as to what was wrong, the tanks feeding those pumps were almost empty, they were getting ready to run out of fuel. That's what's happening when the pumps start acting like that. It's not rocket science. Someone just needed to go throw a measuring stick in the tanks and measure how much fuel was left. Shortly after I pulled in, another gentleman and his family pulled in to the pump behind me. As I was attempting to pump my own fuel, I observed him go inside for a minute and come back out. I didn't think much about it at the time because I was trying to figure out why my pump was running so slow. After I returned from my chat with the guy inside, I asked the guy pumping fuel behind me, "Is your pump going really slow?" He said yes. So, I would bet anyone that they were running out of fuel or were already out and we were just getting what was left in the underground pipes. Someone there dropped the ball when it comes to ordering fuel, or measuring how much fuel was remaining in those tanks so that more fuel could be ordered. The dude inside who I talked to had an attitude and his customer service skills SUCKED. In other words, he was a dick. His attitude was like, "Oh well." Not my problem. I left him with a few choice words before I want out, hung up the hose and left. And to think I was in a good mood when I got there. lol

There isn't a light and the small hill on the right does a pretty decent job of blocking your view of any oncoming traffic. One you navigate the little maze the hook will be on your left. It's clean inside, has a subway and decent showers for the drivers. Two of the fuel lanes were blocked off today as a worker was pressure washing them and a large motor home was standing off the line waiting to see where the next hole was going to be. Well a little toot of the ole air horn helped him to choose one. I fueled and parked earlier this afternoon, I watched the parking lot fill to and above capacity as the day has progressed. When she opened the window, he said open your gas tank cap. No greeting from him. When I went, there were 2 men on duty. About half a minute after I got there, one man went to help another driver who pulled up right after I did. I don't know where the 2nd employee went. Then the 1st employee went and changed out the garbage bags. I finally went and asked him to help me, and he said, oh I was going to talk to you but you were on your phone. We are not going there again.
