I go every week because its an awesome place to ride horses. She's amazing, go try horse riding lessons and go have fun with friends. I have started since I was 10 now i'm 11 turning 12 in April 13. Shawna has amazing helpers who helps you if your a beginner and have never ridden horses in your whole life. She also cares about you so if you fall off she gives you a minute to breathe and get back on the horse. I find it super fun to go there after a long day of school because school can sometimes be stressful, hanging out and riding horses can cause stress to go away. Riding horses can be therapy when you're feeling anxious or stressed from anything. Fast forward to now, and I had move here to Central Valley with my family, after finding out through a Chamber of Commerce flyer we had one right here in Manteca. I went over to meet the staff and learn about what this location had to offer. For a membership price of $60 a year, my kids had access to homework assistance, STEM activities, Taekwondo 2 day of the week, Local Sports such as basketball, soccer and football. You couldn't find a better placed $60 dollars, and I know this as my children spend way more on Robux and Fortnite skins. I had also learned the staff is trained to handle children with ASD and ADHD which is another plus for those parents who aren't certain about putting their children in an unknown setting. They allow a day pass trial before you sign up so if youre curious to see how your kids about it, have them check it out and then talk about it on the car ride home. There are tremendous social benefits to being a member of the Boys and Girls club, and this location's staff is very friendly and welcoming.

I went to my son's field trip and was lucky enough to be one of the chaperons. I did not even realize this place existed. It is located off of Herndon and VanNess next to the golf coarse. I was already skeptical because that just didn't sound very outdoorsy. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they are located right next to the San Joaquin River and we were able to try out canoeing. We were also educated by some very friendly knowledgeable guides. The students were able to play some simple fun educational games about animals of prey and predators. We also learned about tracking animals as well as the local fauna. I really enjoyed this wonderful educational experience and wish to come back. However, it is an FCOE owned organization and it is not open to the public. It is open to schools and teacher's with their students. Maybe I can become a volunteer Docent or look for other ways to conserve and educate. I believe there is also an organization that will have you canoe your way through the river while picking up trash. I will pick up trash if that means I can come back and canoe! www.scoutisland.org

When you first come onto the camp, they have a cute fake town. There is a sign with a Sheriff on it and some fake stores (one real store but was closed). They had fake train tracks and just cute playtown fun. Great for photos. It is also near a hiking trail. This is just a great place for photos :)

The teachers here are amazing! My middle schooler even had a teacher from his old public school, which was super helpful since he planed to go back to public high school later. This kept him on track (and even ahead) with what he needed to know. Something that I love is that the kids are outside ALL THE TIME! They have class outside, eat lunch outside, and do pretty much everything outside unless the weather is really bad. In summer, they sit under shady trees with nice breezes. In winter, they bundle up with jackets and blankets near space heaters. It reminds me of how European kids spend way more time outdoors instead of being stuck inside all day. My kids have learned tons and made great friends here. If you've read the book "Wild and Free," this school follows that idea perfectly. Kids learn, play, and grow at their own speed. Even if your kids go to regular school, Wild Roots has awesome summer camps that cost less than a babysitter! The kids learn cool stuff while having fun outside.
