Shame on those private sponsors. ( I know, the recession) Last years fare's were only 50 cents! The beaches shuttle system is scheduled to run May 3 through Sept. 6 on Friday nights 7pm to 2am, Saturdays noon to 2am and Sundays are noon to 6pm. The trolleys will operate longer hours on Sunday, July Fourth, running from noon to 2 a.m., and Monday, Sept. 6, for Labor Day, running from noon to 6 p.m. The trolleys will continue to go back and forth from South Beach Regional Shopping Center in South Jacksonville Beach to Atlantic Village Shopping Center in Atlantic Beach. But only on 3rd Street. They will avoid First Street, which is narrow and peppered with pedestrians, which slows the operation. The return time at any given trolley stop is about 20 minutes and I don't think that's too bad of wait or price given the dangerousness of drinking and driving and what that could cost you! Over the weekend, we were waiting for a bus that went by early and left us to get rained on and waiting one hour for the next bus. Why go by early and leave people stranded especially on a route that only runs once an hour. We couldn't even try to walk where we were going, because it was raining so badly and had no choice but to shelter and wait.

My first was awesome and I did get the opportunity to learn a lot about Duval County history. I also love the random painted frogs that are randomly placed outside the adjacent park. Ironically, these are compliments of a local artists who painted them and took the time to randomly place them. They also have a gift shop where a few painted frogs are available for purchase. I managed to purchase one after my visit. If you love learning about history within Duval Cointy, then I highly suggest this type of museum.

She wrote Uncle Toms Cabin which was an important anti-slavery book at the time. She would create the clay statues at the Old Post Office in front of people over months. The cost of the "old wax process" then, bronzing, would be thru donations and be around $175k! I never thought our little museum would be able to raise that money but they did and the pre-unveiling was tonight; tomorrow is the public unveiling. The 3 pieces are beautiful; a masterpiece for Duval County! Brenda worked 1,000's of hours creating the treasure.

It now runs from 4:30am till 7pm AND the route now extends all the way to FSCJ Kent Campus. That's awesome! No more racing to leave for an early (earlier than I normally eat) lunch. I took the trolley yesterday. The longest I had to wait between trolleys was 10 minutes. It is more expensive with the longer route and longer hours. $1 per each ride and they are cash only and don't take change. So, if you have any stops in between, make sure you have enough singles for each time you get back on.

I was so excited when I saw it coming down the street toward Town Hall;) The outside may look a little cheesy to some, but the inside was sparkling clean with lots of lights, music and good energy! Our driver was friendly and patient with us between stops. He never rushed us;) He picked us up at Town Hall and took us to our next destination in Riverside. There are two entrances for the terminal...about 20 feet away from each other. One of the entrances has an Enterprise Rental Car desk right there. The parking lot is not terribly large, but the day we went, there wasn't any difficulty finding any parking. The bathrooms were clean. There is a charging station with cords attached. If you can find a seat near an outlet, take it. There's a small kids area complete with books and toys. The seats are fairly close together...so people and their baggages can make it feel cozier than what some may be comfortable with. We had no issues...people were friendly. I think I and kid #3 made a lot of friends that day. Hahaha. All in all, we showed up about 2 hours before roll call and waited a few hours for the plane to come in from Gitmo. I'm glad we had an overabundance of snacks from our trip down there...we had some to snack on instead of being at the mercy of the vending machines. There were some hot items in one of the vending machines with a microwave right next to it....pizzas & burgers were in the machine. Nice little terminal and can't complain for the cost of traveling Space A. Also, no free Wi-Fi (like we had at the Norfolk Passenger Terminal).
