So fun to see so many talented people! This was my first visit and I am ready to return again soon.

Art Walk is super cool!! Highly recommend you go sometime, my recommendation would be to go down a bit early walk around, shop the vendors, listen to some music, grab dinner from a truck, go get a drink at Volstead, paruse some art galleries, end at MOCA looking at all the beautiful art work! :)

Art Walk on the 1st Wednesdays monthly downtown is a true Jacksonville treasure. There is a lot to see, hear and do and it's pretty much all family friendly. There are family games in Hemming Park set up for all to use and a place for dancing. There are lots of drink vendors but strangely I could not find one that sold water. (Edited to add, find the Art Walk hq tent in Hemming, they usually have water for sale.) Now that downtown has a designated food truck court, the places to eat have doubled. Cash is best, but I noticed a lot of sellers now have the ability to take cards, which helps. Many businesses are open later than normal on Art Walk which is great for those who don't normally get the chance to go downtown. The Museum of Contemporary Art is free that night as well. There was plenty of police patrolling and extra hired security and I felt safe the whole time.

Trees lit festive colors and people all about!

Many cities are doing art walks and other such events to try to get more people to visit their downtowns in the evening, but the results of such efforts are directly predicated on the quality of the offerings. If you have a handful of galleries remaining open two hours longer than normal and a lone dude doing John Denver covers, probably not going to work out but if you do like Jacksonville has and actually get all your major downtown cultural institutions to participate as well as many galleries, restaurants, bars and other businesses plus have various bands throughout the area concerned, it can be such a great thing to attend. And that's what Jax is up to and people DO attend it and it's working out beautifully. The MOCA and main library branch stay open late--and are free--while a number of galleries also have art on display. What is more, there were bands and performers virtually everywhere--from a band at Hemmings Plaza to break dancers a block over to kids doing spinning (hoops and juggling and such) nearby. The police were doing a good but non-intrusive job of providing security and you had everyone from skaters to older people who looked like they probably rolled up in their Maserati attending. Very impressed with this, and it should be a template for other cities to emulate, as well.

Yesterday was my first time attending the Downtown Art Walk and it definitely won't be my last. The event is scattered around most of the downtown area of Jacksonville. Spreading from Hemming Plaza to Jacksonville Landing & from Hogan to Market Street. There is so much to look, eat, hear and do. The Art Walk is broken up into different categories of what you want to do. Art & Culture, Culinary Arts, Nightlife & Local Business/cool spots. The Hemming Plaza is the main central point of the Art Walk. They have vendors under tents selling their different art. There is usually a live band or some type of live performance. Another main area is around the Florida Theatre area. They have local bars & restaurants with special events going on. Florida Theatre gives free tours of the theatre, which was unique. Just take a look at my pictures. It was nice and peaceful and you learn a little about the history of the theatre. Another good thing to do is to see MOCA. You can get a bite to eat at Cafe Nola or get some drinks & cocktails at the bar. Entry into MOCA is also free. They really have some great exhibits currently on view. I am big into photography and they have some extraordinary photos in their NY exhibit on the second floor. I definitely want to head back and see MOCA again. Besides the places I named, they have people sellling art, jewelry and other knickknacks throughout the streets of downtown Jacksonville. On the corner of Laura & Adams St. there is a grassy area known as food truck village. There is usually a handful on food trucks in this area. Also some of the noticeable downtown restaurants that usually are only open for breakfast and lunch open back up for dinner. Once that art walk is over, you can head to some of the bars and clubs to enjoy the late nightlife. All in all the Art Walk is an event than needs to be experienced. It's held the first Wednesday of every month, so don't miss the next one.

Every First Wednesday our downtown holds an art walk. The streets are alive, galleries are all open, lotsa tourists and local artist set up their goods for all to see Often I'm intimidated doing galleries....this art walk is fun and there some way cool art. More affordable than a gallery. You can also find some interesting food choices all over the park. Our great food trucks are usually on the scene with their wonderful varies in gourmet food. The air is filled with music and laughter. It is great for a date night or family outting.

We just discovered this awesome event, there is a wide variety of food, art, music, veggies, soaps, and so much more. Definitely worth checking out and spending a Saturday at with family. So many nice people as well. This will be our new go to on the weekends.

This wasn't first art walk. All I could think what was I waiting on?!? We took the Skywalk to Hemming Plaza(which would bite us in the butt later). The plaza was filled with music and art vendors. Not to mention....FOOD AND DRINKS! I got a Margaritaville margarita in a cute blender cup. Then we stopped by the Jalapeño Food Truck and got street tacos(soooo good!) somehow we also ended up with Mackenzie apple cider as well. It's really a nice event and a great way to find local artists. I will be back again and again.

The vendor I bought from told me that it was free that day to go into the museum and Gardens so my family and I decided to look at the beautiful garden to welcome spring. The garden is absolutely stunning and breathtaking with a plethora of colors and the river in the back it's just so pretty. I loved how you could just walk around and see the different parts of the garden and then stand by the river as well. They had super unique flowers. I especially loved the ones that looked like little red lanterns and I loved all the beautiful trees. I was so happy to come here and I loved that they had a little plant market that drew you in to come and actually check out the garden. I can't wait to go back and explore the museum and make a whole day out of it. You definitely need to add this to your list if you haven't gone yet.

Now since it was a lovely day, there were a lot of people here visiting. I was amazed by the beautiful courtyard but even more breathtaking garden. I see why this is a hot spot for wedding/engagement photos. The garden has the backdrop of the St. John's River and the beauty of the botanical garden is so peaceful. I would've hung out a bit longer if it was not so hot outside. Inside, there are some great exhibits on display like the feature Art in Bloom, Norman Studios (black movie posters collection) Italian to Egyptian art and artifacts, to the Tudor Room. This room is a chance to learn more about the Cummer family and their art collection. The museum also has a cafe and offer a children's learning area. I look forward to coming back for an event day at the museum but I highly recommend stopping by to this museum.

I just love the fact that they always have real craft cocktails, not just a minor twist on something that they're charging more for. It's worth noting that they always offer Mocktails and THC infused drinks for the non alcohol drinkers. We didn't try as many things as we usually do but we REALLY liked what we did get a chance to try. Off the top of my head, I'd say the Cabana Boy was my personal favorite.
