There were a lot of homeless people hanging around begging. They are not scared to come close so beware and keep your eyes open. There was no Megabus attendant at the stop. But she was ready! I saw 2 police officers in the car when I first arrived at 2:30 am but non on foot. The one police officer sat in his car near the line but when he saw the Megabus coming he pulled up off. A friend of mine from the UK told me about these buses. (Thanks Tonya P!) I'm somewhat an adventurous traveler, so naturally I was intrigued. Megabus is cheaper than greyhound, and a shorter route, too. My son and I took a journey on a red-eye trip to Atlanta. It was hard to sleep on that bus, but it sure beat driving through some really boring territory like Janet B had mentioned. It cost $29 each way per person, so it was a tad more expensive than driving the distance myself (would have cost $100) considering there were two of us ($116 total). There is no official Megabus bus stop. It picks people up at other stations. The Jacksonville stop is at the Jacksonville Skyline station across from the Prime Osbourne Center. My departure time was 10pm. The journey to ATL was decent. People were pretty talkative but around 11pm they all shut down and most of us were quiet or sleeping. The bus itself was pretty clean, and the seats were comfy. My son was really excited that it was a double-decker bus and we got to sit at the top. The bus dropped us off at the ATL MARTA Civic Center metro station, but an hour ahead of schedule, which meant that we waited outside of an empty metro station with nothing around. Not cool. Luckily we were not alone and there were other people who either arrived with us or were waiting for the next bus. At the great price and worry-free commute, I'd use megabus again. =) read more

My son booked a trip from Jacksonville, Fl to Orlando, Fl on Sunday morning 11/12/23 that was to depart at 4:30am; He arrived at the bus station at 4:15am; He needed to be in Orlando to catch a flight @ 9:30am;He called me at 6:30am, the bus had not arrived yet; He and another passenger were waiting; They never received any email/text updates regarding bus delays or anything; He called the customer service number, but no one was available until 8am which is absolutely ridiculous! There should at least be a representative on-call for emergencies; The online bus tracking was not working; Needless to say, I had to go pick him up from the bus station; when I arrived at 6:45am, the bus had just arrived also; The driver gave no apology or explanation for being over 2 hrs. late; I drove my son to Orlando because the driver said that it would after 9am when they arrive in Orlando; Because of this, my son son missed his flight, had to rebook for another flight that left 12 hrs later; He was inconvenienced to spend 12 hrs at an airport and then have connection flights with extended layovers which caused him to arrive at his destination the next day in the afternoon; On top of that the supervisor, Sabrina refused to refund him his money, stating it was because he did not complete the trip from Jacksonville to Orlando but instead offered him a voucher for future travel...Really!!! I understand to travel on Mega Bus it's inexpensive, but you can still give QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE!! read more

Despite the less than satisfactory experience my previous time/review, I tried this transportation provider again because I had to get to Orlando and alternative options cost more. In this instance, the bus was early, there were 3 staff loading the bus and checking passenger tickets, and the bus appeared newer than last time. This was a better experience. The app indicated the bus left 10 minutes early which resulted in panic as I made my way to the station, but the bus was there and actually left 20 minutes after the scheduled time. The station in Orlando is on a major thoroughfare that can get you to MCO, but be prepared for up to 38 stops on the public bus if you are taking Megabus to get you there for a flight. read more

Megabus has failed me on a number of levels: 1. The bus never showed up on the day of my trip. I was at the bus station for 9 hours. 2. I attempted to track the bus in "real time" to see where it was. The tracking system did not work. 3. I called megabus on 3 different occasions on the day of my trip while at the bus station and the customer service people reported they tried to track the bus but something seemed wrong with their GPS so they did not know where bus was. 4. With no other way to get to my destination, I eventually had to buy another higher priced bus ticket later that evening with a different bus company, and had to pay for additional transportation when I got to my destination because I had missed my planned pick-up. And there were other additional costs to me from this incident. 5. This was not a pleasure trip. I have to get to Georgia to help my elderly mother move the next day so I HAD to get there as she could not move without help. 6. I called to get a refund for my trip and was told they could not do that, but would offer me a coupon for another trip. This was unacceptable due to the multiple levels that megabus had failed. 7. If I was unhappy with the service or there was a small delay I could understand offering a coupon, but the bus not showing up and their customer service team not being able to provide me any information the 3 times I called is reason for a full refund. 8. To boil this down: I PAID FOR A SERVICE THAT WAS NOT DELIVERED ON. 9. A few days later when I spoke with a manager, he seemed to minimize all these issues and said the only thing they could do was provide a coupon - which again is unacceptable given the level of failings. 10. What would resolve this for me would be to get a refund so at least I could recoup some of the additional expenses I occurred because of megabus' failings. I do not think this is too much to ask. I've taken Bolt Bus, Greyhound, and Megabus. Megabus is my favorite bus line to travel with. It's relatively new to Jacksonville, so the non-stop routes are limited to Orlando and Atlanta. The bus times are limited as well. I'm hoping as the company grows, they can offer more travel times. Megabus was known for the $1 bus promotions. I am not sure if the promotion still exists because I haven't been able to find one since last year. Regardless, I like taking Megabus to Atlanta because unlike Greyhound, they do not have transfers on that route. It saves about 1 hr travel time. Unlike Greyhound, the bus arrival and departure times are pretty spot on. Also, Megabus 30 minute rest stop in Tifton is included in the total travel time. The bus itself is a double-decker. The front seats at the bottom deck has tables. They have free wifi and PLENTY of functioning sockets as well. Although the seats aren't leather, the fabric upholstery is comfortable. The seats are roomier than Greyhound as well. Unlike Greyhound, Megabus doesn't have its own station or private waiting area. However, they are more efficient at checking in. Greyhound's check-in system is still old school. You have to check-in with someone and be issued a physical ticket. The process is more tedious and the tickets can be hard to decipher. The reason why Megabus trumps the other buslines, is their laudable customer service. Their operators have always been professional and friendly. I broke my right leg and got a special needs ticket through Megabus. Right as I got to the stop, one of the employees spotted me and addressed me immediately. I appreciate prudent and conscientious employees. She checked me off and directed the bus-driver to help me on the bus. He was very cautious in helping me on the bus and getting my belongings situated. He was also conscientious towards me when I arrived at my destination. The employees at Greyhound in Jax appeared as though they hated their jobs. The bus driver from Jax to Savannah was a dirtbag and gave me a hard time about my ticket. He even rolled his eyes at me because I gave him the wrong ticket at first. They weren't very accommodating towards me and my broken leg. I didn't get any help getting on/ off the bus. Total jerks. I can't speak for all of the Megabus route, but I really like the employees from the Jax to Atl route. read more

I got a Megabus ticket from Jax to Atl for $27. Way expensive by Megabus standards, but still beats gas money and the headache of having to drive a boring route. Pros: -Cheap price -Easy reservation and check-in -Outlet at every seat -Pretty clean bathroom on board Cons: -No overhead space (carry-ons are stored under the bus) -45 min break at a stop in the middle of a 6 hour ride to Atl -rude, obnoxious, oversized people who sat next to and around me Don't get too excited about their WIFI because it is sporadic and slow. read more

There's only one reason to take the Megabus and that's the cost. It's generally cheaper than driving and only takes a little longer than driving direct. They advertise that they have WiFi but I've taken the bus to Atlanta 10 times and the WiFi NEVER works. Several of the power outlets don't work either. Most of the drivers are good but I've seen some really awful drivers. One driver had an attitude and left a passenger behind because the passenger was 60 seconds late. The buses are sometimes late and when they hit traffic on the highway, and the drivers don't have to exit the highway and drive around it. But the cost makes it a viable business. I would pay a little more to be a cleaner better functioning bus with a higher level of service. read more

I am currently on the bus I got on the bus in Orlando and the driver to me I am the last person to seat wherever I like. I am with my 2 daughters and they were a sleep and the driver started shaking my daughter to wake up to give up her seat or he will call the police. I am so discussed I will never ever travel with #megabus and will definitely be taking legal actions. read more

The staff was not helpful, the wifi service is super slow, and the bus was over an hour late picking up passengers. The air vents froze us out and on the return trip no one ever even checked reservation numbers. This was my first and last trip on Megabus. read more

I took the MegaBus from Orlando to Jacksonville, and Jacksonville to the ATL. I was by myself and a little worried about it, but it turned out really well. The fares can be as low as $2 each way, depending on when you book your tickets online... it is cheaper the earlier you buy. The trip from Orlando to Jacksonville took about 3 hours, and Jacksonville to Atlanta took about 6 hours. The bus stops for a half hour in JAX to pick up more travelers, and for another half hour somewhere in Georgia for lunch. From what I know, there is only one trip a day on this route (and back). I also took the return trip back the next day from ATL to JAX to Orlando. Every bus I took was clean, and arrived on-time or ahead of schedule. It cost me about $25 each way, which is significantly cheaper than what I would've spent on gas driving from Orlando to Atlanta. Sure, it took more time, but if you have more time than money, this can be a great way to go. The buses have wi-fi, although the first day the wi-fi was not working the entire trip, from Orlando to ATL. There are plug-ins at each seat for your laptop, e-Reader, phone, or whatever. Each bus has a bathroom, although I did notice that on one of the buses, the door didn't shut or lock completely which was a little scary. There were definitely a wide range of people on these trips. For the most part, people kept to themselves, and the buses were empty enough that I had my own 2-seat row to myself. I wasn't 100% comfortable around some of the passengers, so I sat near the front both times. A couple things to note, to make your travels a little better: The bus driver can -- and will -- leave people when you stop for the lunch break in GA. He did on our trip and sticks very closely to the schedule! I would recommend taking your personal items (purse, backpack, etc.) with you when you stop for lunch... the bus driver gets off the bus and quite a few people stayed on. Also, if you don't like Hardees Burgers, I'd recommend bringing some snacks. On both the outbound and return trips, the driver stopped at the Hardees stop (at a truck stop) and it was the only place around to grab food. Overall, I would take the MegaBus again. It was an inexpensive way to travel & for the most part, I felt safe. I had read some horror stories online but the experience was OK and a relaxing way to get to Atlanta! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I norMally fly everywhere or drive but since I had a procedure done I was forced to take a bus to Atlanta from Jacksonville. I've taken the megabus once and didn't care too much for it. I decided to give it another chance and I'm so mad I did. My bus was leaving at 2 am Saturday morning. It was late, not by much but it was and that's ok. Then when we got on the bus we found out the ac and heater was broken. It was 30 degrees outside in the middle of the night and even colder on the bus. The bus driver didn't seem to care much. Kids were crying and people were uncomfortable. One my trip back I checked the bus status and and it was ON TIME!! So I arrived 15 minute before as stated online. It was a cold windy day in Atlanta around 20-25 degrees and Atlanta doesn't have an indoor area like Jacksonville. Well the bus was an hour and a half late, no one at mega bus gave us an update. People called over and over and they could not tell us the location of the bus or the reason. Once again children were outside freezing and adults. My bus was supposed to leave at 1:15 and we didn't get an email until 2:25 after we called multiple times and they said it was coming. It's unacceptable, then on the bus thank god the heater work but charging outlets were broken and hanging out the socket. Never again! Customer service was horrible.. they could have simply said the bus is deLayed or in traffic or not coming or something. I was not looking for a refund all I wanted was an answer and some form of communication about where the bus was and why I had to stand outside in below zero weather cuddling with strangers. read more

I used megabus bus service from Atlanta to Jacksonville recently . The bus arrived 2 hours later than the schedule time and it was a real pain to keep waiting for the bus under the sun. I had paid some extra cents to receive texts in case there were any delay but sadly they sent msgs only after one hour of delay. The seats are not much comfortable morever they were congested . It's Aug. 25 and I'm on the 4:30pm bus from Jacksonville to Atlanta. Is there a specific policy that states a passenger is not allowed to sit in the 2 seats behind the driver? I called customer service and they said there is no such policy. I spoke to a CSR named Tierra Wilson, who was polite and told me that it was ok for me to sit in the 2 seats behind the driver, in spite of the driver saying that I couldn't sit there. She told me to go ahead and sit there and simply inform the driver. I almost got kicked off the bus for this. There is water leaking from the ceiling on this bus onto my seat and some other seats. I have a video documenting this. Over 1 liter has leaked out and onto my seat and my clothes are wet. It is also leaking onto the electrical outlets. There is a puddle on the floor where some bags are. Your driver is rude, violently yelled at me for moving to the 2 seats behind him when I questioned him why I could not sit there, stated that it's for "security reasons," and threatened to pull over and call state troopers. Most unprofessional behavior I've ever seen from a bus driver. I think he's just saving 2 whole seats for his bag. This driver is giving the company a bad name and his negative attitude and violent yelling at customers should be documented. He threatened me by saying that if I "even twitch wrong I'm getting kicked off his bus." "Smile because you're on candid camera. If you even TWITCH wrong you're off this bus." read more

I've got to say that Megabus saved me in Jacksonville. After traveling for 24hours with no sleep Greyhound overbooked my bus and told me to wait 3 1/2 hours in the crowded terminal for the next one (which could have been overbooked as well). Anyway I bought my megabus to orland which was on time and not overbooked, if they weren't there I would still be in my the terminal. Thanks Megabus. read more

Dont waste your time or money. I would not recommend this service to a soul. First off, what kind of bus service doesnt have their own terminal. shouldve known it was shady at that point. They sharing the bus station with Greyhound and have no representative on site to aid customers? I had a trip scheduled at 6 am this morning. Bus never showed up. Call their customer service number and was told the bus wont be at the station until 8:50 am which was a major problem being that i had to be at my destination at 9 am and it was 2 hours away. The customer service manager refuse to give me his full name or a refund. All he said was his name was J or Jay and refuse to give me a last name or employee number. J no last name....kinda unprofessional crap is that. They definitely will not get any future service from me, my family, or anyone i know. The only thing good about Megabus is absolutely nothing. Horrible customer service rude. Impolite bus driver told me I could not get on the bus. After he was 3 hours late. I waited outside with other people in the cold and rain. Which by the way I am sick now after standing in 40 degree weather and being rained on. I just so happen to be one of the first people in line when he pulled up. A lot of people complained but I said nothing. After he realized my bag was 60 lb he did not let me on the bus. Which is funny because I never had a complaint about my bag before now. After being humiliated I was also told that I would not be able to receive a refund or be able to reschedule my ticket. Customer service told me I would have to buy a whole nother one and when I asked for the corporate number well I guess you know what happened the phone mysteriously hung up.
