There is also performance art and lots of music and comedy. Accoustic, Irish, Folk. Plus juggling..acrobats etc. Open all day and evening with music also in the Half Moon. Free to get in but there are buckets, for making donations, at the gates.

Other acts recently include Travis, Sugababes, Shane Ward and Ray Quinn. If you're a fan of musicals there is plenty of choice from local operatic groups to others fresh from the west end. Children are well catered for with lots of family friendly shows. In the summer there is a project for budding actors and singers, age 9 -19 culminating in a professional show at the end. Last year they performed High School Musical which went down a storm! Although a small venue compared to others, it is in keeping with the area and tastefully decorated. There is a bar upstairs and a small shop to buy refreshments. My one criticism would be the prices which are typical of a venue of this kind, expensive! On busy nights the queue can be a problem so perhaps more staff in the kiosk, but that aside it's definitely a place well worth a visit.

Whilst all you can see fron outside is a small doorway inside is a modern and compact theatre. The staff were extremely helpful and appeared genuinely pleased to see us. A small bar with resonable prices welcomed us. The whole production was great and as long as you do not expect BAFTA performances you are guarenteed to get your moneys worth. We were told that not only can you get tickets from their box office (the local health store) but online as well! Whilst the seats did become a little uncomfortable towards the end of the night this was the ONLY downside og a great night out.

It has more of an art deco / modern feel inside than most English theatres, but still retains the traditional opulent feeling, with red upholstery, wall panels, and curtain. The theatre is a very nice size as it's not too big or too small and is easy to get in and out. I visited here to see Derren Brown's show on two occasions which we really enjoyed. The theatre staff seemed very on top of things, and I would definitely come here again.

They are hopeless and never interested in the customers - mainly as they are council employees. The building may be magnificent, but the service is abyssmal. Like an old soviet establishement, where everything is for the convenience of the staff and sod the punters. Dreadful service at the bar, officious and pompous stewarding, and the floor itself has no rake so if you are more than a few rows from the back you cannot see anything. Best thing is to go up to the balcony and get a frontish seat there
