One incredible place to grow up. The carousel, the ice rink, the new ice ribbon, the Christmas lights, the Chinese lantern festival, Pig Out In The Park, First Night, Bloomsday, 4th of July, the random attraction rides, the pond, the IMAX theatre, so many memories I can't even believe it. 5 stars to my childhood and adulthood here. I visited Spokane for the first time recently. I heard many recommendations to visit this park, and I thought "Well it's just a park, how great can it be?" Seeing the park for the first time was breathtaking. It was truly beautiful and magical. The mini "amusement park" was decent, I would recommend it if you have kids. Tickets for unlimited rides and the IMAX theater was $20, but if you but it online it's $17. Overall I loved the park. It was beautiful, had a lot of scenery, was near downtown, and had a lot of good paths for bike riding. If you visit Spokane you MUST visit this park!! read more

What a great place to spend the morning strolling around. We arrived in Spokane at about 2 in the morning. It was only a stop on our way to Montana. We planned to get up early and start the next leg of our trip. However, after realizing how close the park was to our hotel (the "Holiday Inn Express Hotel Spokane-Downtown" on "The Rock"), we just had to check it out. We are so glad we did. There is a lot to see and do, including ample open space, many ponds, walking trails and even a very impressive waterfall (walk to see it, don't waste your money on the cable car, unless walking up and down stairs is a problem for you). There is also a merry-go-round, plenty of art, and even (on our August visit) an amusement park. One of the best deals we saw (just a summer thing I think) was a daily pass to make use of all the park features (amusement park, merry-go-round, cable car). Bottom line, if the weather is nice (as it was for us), be sure to check out this wonderful and historic (Spokane Parks and Expo '74) place. read more

This is a beautiful park. There is so much to see and do. We spent the day here as we traveled through town on vacation. We started our walk from Howard St and walked along the Spokane River to see the falls. They were so pretty! They have a Sky Cabin ride that takes you over the falls, but the walk is so nice we didn't feel like we needed to do that. From the falls we walked to Post Street, where the shopping center is and AMC theater. We saw the large Radio Flyer Wagon, carousel, amusement park rides (not many but little kids would love it) and occasionally sat and people watched. We caught a showing at the IMAX theater and had lunch there. All the employees are so courteous, I had a great chat with the girl at the snow cone booth! This is a great spit to take the kids, have a picnic, take a lunch break from work, or have a romantic walk with someone special. There are great views and lots of fountains and walking paths. If you happen to go to Spokane, you should visit. read more

The city has done a wonderful job in rebuilding Riverfront park for all to use and enjoy. This was a wonderful and safe place to bring my sons to when they were young from the Red Wagon and carousel to the children's rides that were part of the old experience. Slowly but surely the park has been rebuilt and this year it will be a pleasure to visit once again. read more

What's not to love? There is always something to do, any time of the year. With the new remodel, this is going to breathe life back into Spokane!! From the ice skating (and now roller skating!!!), water fountain, long walks around the park, there really is something for everyone. This park is pretty much amazing. It has beautiful bridges and river views. It has an IMAX and a little carnival with rides. It seems endless. There is even a large train with a conductor for adults and kids that goes through the park. The Red Lion at the Park Hotel actually has a bridge and a sidewalk straight to the park and edges on the river. Riverfront Park is the jewel of the city. You do feel like you've gotten away from it all. It's a garden within the Lilac City. The park was started in 1974 for the World's Fair, with a majestic clock tower overlooking it. There are a number of attractions- like the giant Radio Flyer slide, a sky ride, ice skating, but the Nature is what you're there for. The main attraction is the stunning sight of Spokane Falls. A river wild in the midst of a city. A peaceful, meditative place. read more

We went to the park yesterday, but unfortunately it's quite torn up because of ongoing reconstruction and therefore we couldn't visit most of the attractions. However, we did visit what is surely the park's highlight (Spokane Falls) and that was lovely. It's probably the best attraction in Spokane or the area. It's a very nice park, a great walking park, and excellent river views. It has one of the oldest and coolest carousels in the country. The gondola is cool and a fun experience with great views, there really aren't that many gondolas around. There's some mini golf and ice skating during the winter, along with some limited food options. Overall, enjoy the day here when you want to relax. read more

Sight & Seen.. Absolutely one of the best city parks I've been to! I love how lovely this place is, unquestionably the best spot in downtown when you want to get away for a bit to the busy hustle and bustle. The cascading sound of the falls, the raging river and the lovely park, it's like stepping away from the city with nature of arms reach (literally). A river runs through it. Riverfront Park is truly the heart and soul of Spokane. This is where Spokanites gather for great city events such as Bloomsday, Hoopfest, Pig out in the Park and to watch fireworks on the 4th of July. At this wide open city park you can a whirl on historic carousel, run through the fountain, take in an IMAX movie or simply gaze from the footbridge at the spectacular Falls. In the summer there's carnival rides which includes a fantastic a gondola ride over the falls and in the winter there's an outdoor ice skating arena complete with hot coco. And its alright right there--downtown. And of course the center of it all is the Spokane river and the HUGE falls. Time to defend what I consider to be the BEST downtown park of any city that I have been to in the US. First of all the last two reviews were looking for things to do! Ala a amusement park, but that is not what a park is. Riverfront is set on a idyllic location on the Spokane River, nestled in between the falls it provides some of the best scenery of any downtown area, especially when the river is flowing strong in spring. You have a 100 year old working carousal, suction goat, world's largest radio flyer wagon, awesome views, the power of the river, beautiful landscaping, peaceful scenery, great bridges to walk-over and view the river, Imax, the opera house, convention center, free concerts, free 4th of July fireworks and a ice skating rink in the winter. I've lives in NY, FL, CA, TN and a scant 6 months in HI, traveled pretty extensively and can't think of a nicer downtown city park then Spokane's. We live up North but continually are drawn to this park for picnics, and the whole atmosphere. Visitors are continually impressed that this is THE downtown park. read more

I adore this park. I love that the Centennial Trail runs right through it. The river is incredible and the Spokane Falls are breathtaking. Come here to meander aimlessly, check out the Imax or ride the carousel. Also a great park for running and cycling through. In the summertime the fountain is perfect for cooling off and there are so many grassy knolls for picnic lunches. read more

5 starts mostly for the big waterfall, especially during the height of the spring melt when it's quite an impressive torrent, cascading over the rocks. There are great views off the various walking bridges, and the power of a river in full force pouring over ancient volcanic rock is an amazing mix of frightening and awe-inspiring. The carousel is a fun, old attraction - it's huge, and runs pretty much all the time, and they've got the gold rings you can try & catch. It really harkens back to an older era. The gondolas, in my opinion, are a bit goofy. They give you a good view of the falls, but they're sort of oddball and feel strangely out of place. I think I'd like the scene better without their presence in the way. read more

It's a beautiful park inthe midle of the city! Well maintained. Hills, different types of trees and plants. I would recommend not walking alone at night tho', as there are lonely stretches and a few whose motives may not be good. Any city park may have this, but here I felt more isolated than at say, Greenlake in seattle. read more

This is such a fun park with lots of hidden stuff. My kiddos love the carousel it's fun to just walk around right across the street is the River Park Square Mall if you get bored outside! Lots of street parking and parking lots. On the other side of the park is the flower mill so there's lots to do and see. The river is always pretty! Really great little park in the heart of Downtown Spokane! Built for the 1964 World's Fair, this park evokes a definite pang of whimsy upon strolling its walkways and paths. I like how old and new are integrated here, with ample space for fitness joggers and casual park goers alike. My hubs really disliked the carnival music from the carousel, but I don't know, maybe I am cheesy but I love it. In years past, I have taken a ride on the gondola over the falls, and think it's worth the few bucks if you haven't done it before. read more

WOW! Such a beautiful park situated in downtown Spokane and right on the Spokane River and Falls. A perfect place to see sunsets, go for a morning run and take pictures around the statues. There's even a mini amusement park located in the park, merry go round and plenty of bridges to cross the river as well as other areas of the park. I've walked around the park in the middle of the night and felt super safe, so don't worry if you are staying on one side of the river. This park truly makes this city so definitely spend some time here to get a better appreciation of Spokane. read more

I was lied to. So in September I had twin girls who are 6 months old. I also have an 11 year old and an 8 year old and a 7 year old. This summer I was excited and was thinking about getting Riverfront park passes. I have gotten them in the past and it's always been fun. I was told by a lady in group sales I needed a pass for one of my twins who are only 6 months old. I thought that was odd 3 and under are free. And the girls cannot do anything really they just need to be able to get into the IMAX if my boys want to go, the carousel and the tour train. I spoke with Chris Orheim who told me that this was ridiculous. He said if you have a problem have them call me and I will smooth it over we need to use common sense. So I went later to buy the passes and was once again told buy a twin a pass. I spoke with a manager Chris's manager Debbie. She spoke to Chris who retracted his statement and claimed he never said that!!! I was told by Debbie to buy my twin a pass. No way on Gods green Earth am I buying a 6 month old a pass. She said you should do it the kids will have so much fun and $40 is sooooo cheap. No! It's the PRINCIPAL of the whole thing. I will NEVER buy passes there again. And my taxes go to help fund this park. Now beyond that, all I could do as the parent of twin 6 month old girls would be the theater the tour train and the carousel but I get I need a pass. And I cannot put one baby under my 11 year olds pass because that "would make him Responsible for her" according to Debbie. And there is no difference in Price between an adult pass and a kids pass. Never going back there again. read more

My feet were sore (I am 60) after walking all over this wonderful city park on a sunny and beautiful afternoon in June. Loved the fast flowing river (we don't have rivers like this on Oahu) and the cooling effect. Wide open rolling lawns and lots of beautiful evergreen trees. Laid down on the grass and soaked up the warm sun for an hour. Every city, big and small, needs green space like this. Spokane should be proud of its Riverfront Park! This little university town in Eastern Washington has a certain old world charm and character to it. Loved all the pubs and resteraunts in the old red brick buildings and warehouses. Ok, off topic. There are so few cities that really get the concept of a riverfront park. Throw down some grass and plant some trees and there you have a good description of most riverfront "parks." Spokane did things right. Riverfront Park is a focal point for the revitalized city. It's not just a one sided deal either, this park is on both sides of a river. Not a big deal? Tell that to Wichita, Kansas. This park is great for all kinds of outdoor activities (my favorite being people watching). The bridges over the falls brought back memories of my sister being too scared to cross over when she was little and we visited Spokane. I enjoyed strolling through the park to view all the sculptures and just enjoy the perfect Spokane August evenings. read more

Seriously this is the only place that makes Spokane bearable. I mean the town is alright. But this park is awesome. it is great to walk around the river and everything always seems peaceful and fun for the family. there is a carousel, and i max and a fun fountain where kids and families get in their suits and run through. I run through the park all the time when I am there and everything is well maintained. There is a bridge nearby that overlooks the spokane falls which is so cool to see, especially the changes at defferent points of the year. I read the the native Americans thought the Spokane falls was a spiritual area and I believe them, it is gorgeous. the hydroelectric plant is sort of an eye sore but at lease they are obtaining a reusable energy source. Across the street there is a small mall so there is fun for everyone! i dont have to go there for work anymore so will be missing this park for a good run! read more

When I first saw the list at the park, I thought one of the rules was that "Audio devices making noise are banned" which amused me for at least 30 seconds before I realized it was "extreme noise". Riverfront Park is an area in Spokane developed for the 1974 Expo. It's always great when you see different places use part of these events to transform a part of their city; previously, this was part of a railyard and now it's a fairly pretty downtown park. I came through the park on several runs and it was a bit smaller than I expected and forced me to loop a little bit. But that's okay, it let me see things several times. There are some parts of the park that look abandoned: there's part of an old amphitheater that looks like a Greek ruin as well as an amusement park that was closed while I was there. Oh well, no Tilt-A-Whirl for me. However, they do have some landmarks throughout the park that are open. First there's a clocktower left from the original railyard and an IMAX theater: overall a good thing, even if that forces you to watch Night At The Museum occasionally. From the bridges, you do have a pretty good look at the Falls and I was surprised at how many people there were taking pictures of this even in the wee hours of the morning. I was also excited to see that they have a carousel here: it's something I hadn't thought about since Logan's Run. read more

This park is awesome! From the world's largest Radio Flyer wagon to the amazing views of the river, this park has something for everyone. The world's fair expo was held here in 1974 and a lot of the remnants from this can still be seen around town and throughout the park. A large convention center, the downtown core, and a Double Tree hotel line the southern edge of the park leaving some nice condos, a Red Lion Hotel, and the Flour Mill along the northern side. The Rotary Fountain on the southern edge is a common gathering place for children and their parents in the summertime. If you're a runner, this is a great spot to go! The central part of the park allows many twists and turns both on inclining and declining terrain with the option to easily embark onto the Centennial Trail and head way out of town for an extended journey. read more

A great family place in Spokane. This park, not surprisingly, is along the Spokane River in downtown. It used to be an ugly railroad yard, but it was completely renovated for the 1974 Expo. All that remains of the railroad yard is the clock tower, Spokane's signature landmark. The other main landmark is the pavilion. During the expo, this was the American exhibit hall, and now it is uncovered. In the summer, it has rides for kids, and in the winter: ice skating! This is the best place to go ice skating because it is outdoors and still as big as an indoor rink. The park also has a beautiful old carousel, the best one i have ever seen. There are also new gondolas that take you over the falls of the Spokane River. The Spokane Opera House and the convention center are also right next to the park and river, with steps that go right down to the water. The park is home to many great events during the summer: Pig out in the Park, Fourth of July Fireworks, and lots of different outdoor concerts. read more

Whenever i come to Spokane ill most definitely go for a good run through this park. The scenery is breath taking when you pass over the small bridges and look down at the rivers intense rapids. There's one walking bridge you can go across where you actually get a constant mist of water going through the air because the water crashes off the rocks. If you dont like to excersise or walk they have a SkyLift that will take you for a short ride over the falls. I personally think the money isnt worth the ride, but it is something cool if you have like 9 bucks to spend on something like that. Over all this is a must see in Spokane. Enjoy! read more

Wednesday morning, I strolled around the park. Great fall colors, beautiful shining river, and cute somewhat funny animals like squirrels, ducks, and geese. The sculptures, clocktower, and the giant red barrel just add to the impressiveness of the park. Along the stroll, I also saw YMCA and iMax theatre. Although the gondola and the carrousel were down for the season there were many more features you can enjoy in the crisp fall air. The only reason I took away a star is because I saw some sketchy people strolling around and around the park. You know, the really skinny ones that look like they didn't sleep through the night and fume cigarette smokes out of their noses. I felt afraid just a little bit with my 5 month old son in the stroller. read more
