It was a nice, warm day, which also made many community members come out to enjoy the beach. The ocean waves were mild, a good handful of birds were soaring through the sky, water activities were available at everyone's leisure and so much more that you'd expect at a beach/boardwalk. Nearby parking was super accessible and free to the public. Restaurants and stores were also along the boardwalk for public visitation. West Biloxi Boardwalk was a great stop. I recommend swinging by here, whether it's for having a peaceful walk, swimming in the ocean, participating in water activities, or even checking out restaurants/shops.

The…read morepark is totally enclosed by a wrought iron or steel gate, built by contributions from The Lions Club. It has swings, a playground with slides, a wheelchair swing, balancing bars, climbing bars. The park has no restrooms but has a drinking fountain, benches, a paved path, pavilion with three picnic tables & a double BBQ grill. The park is shaded by several large Southern Live Oak Trees complete with Spanish Moss with an abundance of both acorns & squirrels. The park was empty, I came with my dog, I would say it is a pet friendly park (no one else was there) because it is enclosed, but is not a dog park. Parking is on a side street near the entrance. This park is directly behind what appears to be The Biloxi Police Station because there was a parking lot chock full of cop cars next door. So in other words, it is safe.

Yes, it is a beautiful lighthouse but it is a serious pain to visit. There is no parking nearby and…read morethe road that passes in front of it is one way. You'll end up looping all the way around and under the Pascagoula River High Rise Bridge to come back to it. Or, you'll follow the signs and end up crossing over the bridge to make a u-turn and come back over the bridge to get to the lighthouse which still has no parking. We were here at 8am on Sunday morning so I just did an illegal parking move, put the flashers on for a few minutes, and got my eye level tour of the lighthouse. Which is impressive. The Round Island Lighthouse began in 1833 as a brick tower guiding ships through the Mississippi Sound, then was rebuilt in 1859 with a taller red brick structure and a fourth order Fresnel lens. The Confederacy removed the lens during the Civil War, but the light returned afterward and stayed in service until 1949 before being used as a day beacon for a few more years. Erosion and neglect took their toll, and by the time the city received the property in 1986 the tower was already fragile. Hurricane Georges toppled it in 1998, and Katrina destroyed the partial rebuild in 2005. The surviving base was moved to the Pascagoula waterfront in 2010, where restoration continues to preserve what remains of the original lighthouse. Definitely stop by to see it and be creative with your parking. [Review 309 of 2026 - 116 in Mississippi - 25497 overall]

Across from them, another couple was abducted at the same time, a woman named Mary Blair and her husband. This case was reported to the police and multiple witnesses came forward. There are plenty of books and documentaries on this incident, because it has been documented and has multiple witnesses of the lights, spaceship, and abduction. Research it. The event itself occurred right across from this park, over the water, next to the shipyard. I don't know why the disconnect, but I am going to imagine that it is the result of many meetings and snippy letters back and forth over the course of a decade. But the park is here now and it's well maintained. A smooth concrete path through the center that leads to a large gazebo. Several benches throughout. The park is also bordered on the railroad side by a split rail fence. I would guess that there is music in the park on weekends. Perhaps Jazz Sunday and a farmer's market? Who knows, I'm just using my imagination and context clues. [Review 14167 overall, 1489 of 2020, number 59 in Mississippi.]
