It's our excuse to buy some fun clothes that we'd actually like to wear again while on vacation. And we were happy to see that Glik's was open on our most recent trip, considering everything going on with COVID-19. We strived to be safe on this trip and take proper precautions. This involved during a quick trip to downtown Hayward. And we found that Glik's has put up a plexiglass barrier at the register, to help protect staff and guests. The dressing rooms were also closed to guests. This did provide some difficulty when it came to deciding what to buy, but I understand why they did this. Holding up a shirt to myself while looking in a mirror gave me an idea, and happily, the shirt fit when I got home and tried it on. The owner/manager was there when we visited. She's always been friendly when we've seen her. Happy to find that this is the same Glik's, with some extra precautions in place.

Was able to play with my Bro- and Mother-in-law, had an easy time booking a time around 745a and we were able to go out a few minutes early too. Nice staff, pro shop guy let me snag a bag of tees on the house, we grabbed drinks from a friendly bartender at the turn, and noticed a drink cart guy was driving around once we were halfway through the back 9. Great signage and good combo of cart paths and open grass to drive on (love that combo as we have all concrete paths typically in Houston). Multiple tee boxes to choose from and longest was around 6450yds, and dated gas carts that they were cleaning as we were ready to head out. Course was in good shape, greens were nicely manicured and probably rolled around a 10-11? Really enjoyed how consistent they were. No patches of note. Fairways were rewarding and provided lush approaches, and rough wasn't too long and penal. Good mixture of holes, 9 towards the clubhouse is intimidating, yet a drivable par 4, and 18 was the star. Would definitely play again for the $75 fee w cart. Looked to be nicest public course in the Spooner, WI area. Finished in about 4 hrs, and we stopped at the turn for a drink run. The course was in great shape yesterday. Didn't seem too busy until we caught up to a very slow fivesome on #3. They were hitting multiple balls and playing from the back tees. They were average golfers at best to be playing from the blue tees. 2 other groups caught up to us. We joined with another twosome and waited. I called the pro shop to let them know. They told us that they would send a Ranger out to check. Didn't happen. We left after 9 holes. I felt we were being patient but this was not good. Unfortunately I read another review that commented on fivesomes, slow play, rangers who didn't seem to care about pace and the pricing. Maybe this was just a bad day? We left the course extremely disappointed and are questioning if we want to return. We play Turtleback and Siren National among other local courses so our money will easily go elsewhere. Great course, but we had a bad golf etiquette and course management experience on July 5th 2026.

My original review seems to have disappeared after being on here for quite some time. I will try…read moreand be as brief as possible in restating my encounter with Mikeal Ostrander, the owner/optometrist. It's been awhile, but I will never forget the horrible treatment I received here. It left an impression. I had an eye appointment and immediately upon entering the office, I presented my insurance card and a copy of my eyeglass coverage. They appeared to make copies of those items. I assumed (incorrectly) that they would run things through my insurance. When choosing glasses, I presented the insurance coverage document to that person as well. She assured me that if I had coverage and their office was paid again, they would reimburse me for what I was paying out of pocket that day. When I found out they didn't submit the items to insurance, I asked them to pay the amount insurance would have covered, had they done what they were supposed to do in the first place. I was told they weren't required to submit to my insurance. Then why take my insurance documents and make copies? What's the point, if you're not submitting it to insurance? The optometrist/owner didn't care about the fact that his staff dropped the ball on their end. He was extremely unpleasant and unreasonable in working with me to fix the situation they caused. Countless unpleasant interactions later, the owner/optometrist would not reimburse me for the $75ish they were supposed to repay me. They were standing by their mistake. I now go to a different eye doctor in Hayward (Northview). The staff actually look up your benefits and tell you specifically what is covered. They are wonderful to deal with. REPLY TO "TIM F's" COMMENT: Ironic that Tim F. was not involved in this dispute but you're writing using his name. You are not Tim F. Yet another questionable business practice. My original review, under my name, was up for the majority of the last few years. It recently disappeared and not because of some fake name. I had watched it through the years and it had been read by many, many people. You could learn a lot from Northview Eye Clinic. I walked in, presented the same information I provided to your staff, and by the time my exam was done, they told me exactly what I would be paying for glasses out of pocket and what my insurance would cover. It went off without a hitch, as it should. I didn't mention this in my first review, because I didn't know at the time, but the prescription you gave me for distance was not correct. I wondered why I couldn't wear those glasses without getting a headache. Now I know. It was off by quite a lot. Northview fixed that as well. Bottom line, I presented all my insurance information to your staff, and you didn't run it or tell me you wouldn't run it. Eventually, my insurance did get involved at MY prompting. I reported you to the State of Wisconsin as well. Insurance said you could run it through correctly and then they could cover it. You refused. You should have done the right thing and chose not to. You still would have gotten your money from my insurance company. You dug in your heels and chose not to run the claim correctly. All I can do is inform others of the truth, which hasn't changed since it happened years ago. I had sincerely hoped you would have learned by now that treating the public the way you treated me, is not good for business. Sadly, it seems you haven't. Also, replying to my review with outright lies doesn't boost your credibility with anyone. You messed up. We all do, but you need to admit it and move on.

Some sand, some water and some narrow fairways - but a fair course if you can hit your ball reasonably straight. Greens on some holes are tricky - but all but a couple are in great shape.
