I've been here in the past for kayaking. Ran into some alligators while canoeing as well. Last year I came for a 5k and a deer walked right across the trail in front of us. It was a magical Disney princess moment. This year deer were right at the entrance as we arrived for the 5k. There was one spot on the trail where my nose was amused by the scent in the air. Smelled like there were mint plants close by but I did not want to go rouge touching the flora and end up with a poison ivy story. We also spotted a rabbit on the trail. I always look forward to coming here to take a break from the city life and enjoying all of nature's beauty. read more

This was such a unique and adventurous experience! I've been kayaking twice here and every single time I'm still left in awe of the amazing wildlife and beautiful nature I've gotten to kayak through. It feels like an obstacle course through the Amazon rain forest. You will be inches away from alligators, turtles, and get to kayak down a waterfall. There are very shallow areas where you can get in but it's at your own risk with the few gators around. There is a rope swing that many people were using and the very unique fallen tree where you have to crouch down to get yourself and your kayak through the narrow pathway. The only thing that I would say could be better and make a huge difference are the paddles. Make sure you grab a good paddle because you will need a strong good one to make it for 2 hours through the river. The staff and service is very fast and professional. I am a native Floridian who just discovered this park. I had no idea I was missing out on such a wonderful place to adventure! Whether you are looking to bike, hike, or kayak, this place has it all. This is my absolutely favorite place to kayak currently. This place instantly transports you to a jungle and makes you feel like you're on a vacation. From wild growing flowers to waterfalls, this location is every kayakers dream! You can rent a kayak or bring your own. There are two kayak drops, making it very easy to get on the water. Once you begin, it's pretty smooth sailing. You can take it easy and sight see. I actually saw a snake, a few gators, and even an owl! It was quite a sight. The further down the river you go, it becomes more challenging. There are many roots and fallen trees, so be prepared for some obstacles. This makes it a challenging but fun course. The way back usually has a semi strong current, so keep this in mind if you are new to kayaking. I have also ridden the bike trails and can say they are incredible! There are so many intertwined trails that make the overall experience exciting. You can go for a short ride, or keep hitting new trails and extend your ride. There are also many other hikers and bikers! Very clearly marked signs and directions so you'll more than likely not lose your way. Plenty of pavilions to stop and rest if needed. On weekdays I go here for morning exercise walks. On almost every walk I get to see either deer, wild turkey, and the last time a funny raccoon, not to mention all the curious squirrels up and down the trails. Great parking and facilities. read more

This is a great place to walk. The paths are wide and labeled well so you don't get lost. Dogs are not allowed. Google maps also helps if you want a map. There were a few deer in the early morning. If you're looking for birds, there aren't a lot here. I only saw one port a potty. There's a horse trail which is awesome! read more

This was an incredible kayaking journey! My family and I have kayaked a ton throughout our lives/vacations and this was the most unique experience. Prepare for about 20 minutes to check in and learn everything. Very smooth relaxing water Recommendations: -take a photo of the map and ask for explicit directions as the map doesn't always show every turn -eat beforehand, bring water -take heavy duty bug spray with you -wear sunscreen/hat/clothes -be okay with falling in -Bring a dry bag for electronics/keys as ocean kayaks (look it up) are generally easier to flip over, but there isn't more than 3 feet of water and mainly 2 feet of water for a majority. Not that you will fall in, but they are less stable then regular kayaks. You see wildlife (gators birds turtles) An incredible experience. Will defintiley be back!! read more

I partake in a lot of 5K races, many are held at Riverbend Park. This park is beautiful and has numerous trails for bicycling, walking or running. Additionally, this is a great place to kayak... unless you're not a fan of gators. There is a lot of wildlife to be seen here. Often, I see deer when running and once crossing the street. This is an awesome park. We spent two full days here on our visit to the Jupiter area. And it is FREE! One day we biked and hiked on the extensive, well marked trails. They are wide and pretty smooth for most bikes. There are dozens of areas with tables and huts to picnic at along the way so pack a lunch to take on your bike. The next day we rented a kayak and joined local friends for an adventure around the waterways of the park. Our friends knew the park so we got off the beaten path that the rental company usually recommends. We saw turtles, lots of birds and a couple of gators on our 3 plus hour paddle. Oh yeah the scenery cannot be beat. A real gem read more

This is my favorite park in South Florida that I've found so far. The trails are very well maintained, with tons of paths to explore. Every time I've gone on walks here, I've seen tons of wildlife - birds, deer, raccoons, turtles, and squirrels! Beware that if you decide to picnic, some of the wildlife have become accustomed to humans feeding them, and will get close (squirrels especially!). The signage is well placed, so you will not get lost even though the park is expansive. I've also been kayaking in Riverbend which was a great experience! They have single and tandem kayaks, as well as canoes. Note: There is a dam that you will have to either get out and pull your kayak over, or ride the kayak over (dangerous) and there isn't staff to help at that part. Parking is generally easy to come by, but there is overflow parking on the grass if needed. You can easily spend 2 hours here just exploring the park. read more

One of my favorite places to do a photoshoot. There's so many endless options to choose from. I'm updating this review since I've now also done a few weddings inside the park as well! If you're going for a natural Florida look that is adorable, def look into Riverbend! It's also a wonderful place to go to ride bikes, fish or kayak. They have clearly marked trails with signs and markers along the route. They recently improved the bathrooms and parking area. Free entrance and parking. This was my favorite park visit this year and I took my favorite photo of the year here. I came over on a rainy day to hike the park. The park is huge (680 acres!) and it's a little hard to know where to start. I recommend beginning at the trail that starts by the bathrooms. From there you can hike miles of trails. The trails are well marked with their names but one trail leads into another and another so it is advisable to pick up a trail map. I easily walked three miles before being letting out another mile from my car. While hiking I came across a lot of deer which had never happened before. They were so beautiful and I was captivated. At one point I came across a field where there was a whole family of deer grazing. A curious fawn peeked out at me behind a palm frond and after a long time got bold enough to come out from behind it and come quite close to me leading to that favorite picture. This was the one time I regretted only having my phone and not carrying my camera. In addition to the 10 miles of hiking trails you can rent a canoe to explore the five miles of water trails that lead into Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Riverbend Park is the site of ancient Indian middens which are garbage dumps which tell archaeologists a lot about the people who made them. Adjacent to this park is Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park which was the site of a battle during the Seminole Wars. There must be still a lot of bullets around because there are signs warning you that metal detectors are prohibited. At the back of the park there is a trail that leads out to the Cypress Creek Natural Area. There is so much nature and history in this one spot. Unfortunately for me once the rain stopped the overbearing heat returned. With so much to see I plan a return trip when the cooler weather finally arrives. read more

A great way to spend the day. We brought the bikes and rode 10 miles around the endless groomed trails. Most trails are under a canopy of trees so keeps it cool. A wide variety of sights to see; from wildlife to ponds, river and historical sites. Saw many people walking as well, and lots of little kids rocking the training wheels while soaking in the sights with mom and dad. Just watch out for the occasional d-bag on his $5k mountain bike (you know who you are Chad) trying to set the land speed record. Johnathan Dickinson's better suited for the hard core mountain biking types. Finished our day with a nice snack at the food trailer by the bike rentals. Perfect. read more

I was so disappointed in our kayak morning at Riverbend Park. Granted it was a Saturday, and since Covid-19, people need to get outside and have some fun. So I understand that the Park would be crowded on a Saturday, but the kayaking became dangerous because they had so many people on the water at the same time between 10:30 and 11:30 am today. The current brings you down stream where people were bottle necking on top of each other and crashing into one another's kayaks and canoes. It became so crowded and crazy, my friend and I turned around to paddle back towards the launch site to get away from the crowd of people. I was so disappointed. You would think they would book a certain amount of people to go out every 15 minutes or half hour so this would not happen, but I suspect money is the main motivation for this spot. We were also told all the good kayaks were rented, so rentals were also down to their crappy kayaks. We were given "sit inside" kayaks where the foot pedals were broken. When we asked for ones with food pedals that weren't broken, the kid working there said this is all we have. That is was left at 10:30 am, broken and extremely dirty kayaks. I also broke out in a rash on both my arms from something that was on or in the kayak and the itching did not subside until I washed with soap and water when we returns. I was very disappointed in our kayak at Riverbed Park. read more

Loved walking around the park with my other half!! We saw beautiful deer, owls, otters, large wood peckers, many species of reptiles, birds of all kinds, raccoons, and the wonderful plants and flowers that are all around the park! Make sure you keep your eyes open for some of the orchids in the trees! Oh and there we're tons of butterflies everywhere, not to mention the grasshoppers! This is an easy 5 star park. The county has finished their work, new bathrooms, plenty of parking, jungle, water, critters and some history. The trails are really nice, very bikable or to run. I like to bring my camera and bike. There is a wide assortment of wildlife, bobcat to woodpeckers, with deer, turkey, gators in between. I've found star fruit growing wild and oh so juicy Reese oranges...bitter as hell by the way. The Seminole Wars took place in parts of the park, look for the Tree of Tears. We went canoeing here. The canoe rental was $35 for a half day, not a bad price! We paid the same over at Peace River in Arcadia. We explored south because that's what they recommended due to the conditions. They did say north is prettier, just more difficult. We did the whole southern loop and it took us about 3.5 hours including a stop at Cow Pen to eat. It's a beautiful area! Quiet, peaceful, lots of wildlife. We saw a couple of raccoons, jumping fish, a variety of birds including a peacock, and lots of sun bathing turtles. No alligators but my brother has canoed here before and saw some. There are lots of picturesque bridges and fauna. If you're canoeing, I recommend packing a cooler, sun shirt, bug spray, sunglasses, & hat. I didn't have any issues with bugs but I did swat away a few mosquitos that I'm sure would be more annoying if it had just rained. They give you a paper map, but we found it easier to navigate using our cell phone map. When we got back to the launch area, we still had some time and paddled north just a bit, it really was pretty. We will definitely go back so that we can explore the north area. They also do bike rentals there, which we would also like to do so we can explore the trails. After canoeing we drove further into the park and saw an old chimney and stairs from a house in the 1800s. It's quite the historical area. We also saw people horse back riding. The ONLY negative thing I have to say is about the port-a-potties outside the canoe rental trailer. They were disgusting. I've seen cleaner ones at music festivals. They at least had toilet paper, but they were filthy and a girls worst nightmare. I didn't want to touch a thing in there. I even checked all of them to find the cleanest, but none were even remotely clean. I don't think they've seen soap or antibacterial since they were put there. I would highly suggest they get that situation sorted as it is just not pleasant for us girls to be subjected to that. I would rather pee in a bush than use those things again. So - if you're a lady, pee before you get there! read more
