The blinds didn't close all the way so people were still able to look into your room. The mirror was faded and had a large dark spot going across the mirror. And this was supposed to be there signature room. The next room they put us in was dated as well. The tub in the bathroom looked dirty. On the side of the toilet was brown streaks. We asked for extra towels and the bag they brought it in had trash in it and some black gunk on some of the towels and some of the towels were musty smelling. The walls are thin so you can here the person next to you talking and their TV. Thank God for the manager who personally came and cleaned our room for us. I would advise anyone not to stay until ownership decides to update their hotel and care enough for the cleanliness of their hotel. read more

Instead they threw their hands up, said they were overbooked, and that there was nothing they could do. The outside of the hotel looks very nice. Landscaped nicely. Lobby looks nice. In our room; we stayed in an older section of the hotel that hasn't been remodeled yet. The room was very dated but the beds were comfortable. The sheets were clean. The carpet did have a funny smell. The bathroom was very dated. The sink was not the normal height. We had to bend over way far to use it. The toilet rocked back and forth which was very annoying. They don't service the room when you stay there multiple nights. We stayed 5 nights with no room service. We had to walk to the lobby to get more towels.... Our key stopped working 3 different times which we had to walk back down to the lobby for new ones. The other couples that we traveled with said the new remodel area rooms were nice and ok. This place would be awesome if they updated the rooms and provided more service instead of us going down to the lobby to get things we needed. What we got were standard size beds. Noisy, a dog in the room next door barked all night our first night. The bathroom is so small with a sink lower than usual. Carpet was dirty. (Literally right across the street to Anakeesta and on the main drag) Bed sagged badly in the middle, but it was still comfortable. Room was halfway updated with hardwood floors and no carpet thankfully. Only complaint would be that the shower had ZERO water pressure so you have to run cicles in it to get wet. Front desk people were friendly and very helpful. Can't really complain for the price and location but like most others have said....it wouldn't hurt to update more. A+++ for location and views for every room. Staff was super friendly and helpful. They sent texts through out our stay to check in on us. The beds and pillows were amazing. The pool is so clean and we had it to ourselves pretty much the whole stay. We literally walked to all our favorite places. The views of the river and the strip are great. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I think our room could've used a better cleaning & we had a small millipede problem. The bathroom had leftover splatter of soap or toothpaste on the walls. The floors left our bare feet black. I actually ended up cleaning the main walkways with a towel and hot water. As far as the millipedes, we don't mind small regular bugs. (We're on the side of a mountain, of course) and I always check for bedbugs or other worrisome bugs but these millipedes were EVERYWHERE. I woke up to one on my pillow and then another in our sheets the next night. I'm not a person who is easily bothered by bugs/spiders but to have them actually in my bed space bothered me quite a bit. Overall, besides the millipedes, our vacation was awesome. And I don't blame the hotel for the millipede problem. You're in a humid, mountain environment...but I do expect a clean room/bathroom. read more

This was not a pleasant experience. 1st they told us we were VIP and the guy would help us with anything. Offered to help with luggage but we said as long as there is a bellman cart we'd be fine. They said there should be one in our building somewhere. We looked all over for a cart and nothing. So I called and asked if the guy could help us and she told me he is about to go home. I guess he realized we weren't so VIP after all After several trips to our vehicle I decided to hook up our firestick. I couldn't figure out how to change the input so they sent the maintenance man who came very quickly. However he informed us that the wifi is horrible and would probably not be able to watch Netflix. He was correct. Wifi didn't work on streaming nor our cell phones. And the TV was super blurry. Next I had been walking barefoot on the beautiful hardwood/laminate floor and noticed my feet were charcoal black. It was late so we decided to just put down sheets to walk on‍‍. So I brought it to the front desk associates attention and she said they will mop while we are gone. Yes they came, got new towels, trash bags etc. However the floor was still making my feet black!!! Also don't expect good service or food from the restaurant. No room service as well. One more thing. The air conditioner is on the wall by the front door. So the bedroom doesn't get very cold. Centrally located and within walking distance to anywhere you want to go. You won't want to drive anywhere around here because it's bumper to bumper traffic, but it is spring break too. The staff was very friendly and checked in to see if I needed anything. However, I was not able to connect to the internet. I was given the phone number for the IT support. After several hours on the phone with them and being disconnected once, they were not able to figure out the problem. I could see on my computer that I was connected to their WiFi, but that they had no internet connection. The second IT person escalated the problem to the engineering department, who were supposed to call me back. They didn't and after 2 days, I still had no internet. I notified the front desk and asked that they tell the manager. I doubt that this happened as I never heard from anyone after that. I was here for a business trip and had booked through my convention housing group. There is no excuse to not know that I was here for business and would likely need internet. On top of that, the walls are paper thin. The people next door had a party on the first night, and the people on the second night were fighting for most of the time. Stayed at River Terrace for one night, and what a perfect choice we made. From the front desk service by ginger, who made us feel very welcome and was extremely helpful and guiding us on where to have a dinner that suits our desires. After leaving her we checked into our room and she reached out to us again to see if everything was OK and if there was anything else that she could do for us. Now that is what I call customer service. Of course the hotel is going through renovations, but what they've done is amazing. I'm sure the end result is going to be extraordinary. The lock does not work, and instead of switching me to another room, I had to call maintainFe to open the door every time. The door to the balcony does not close, so I had to raise the heater's temperature because the room was always freezing. The hot water does not come out, so we couldn't take a shower because it was very cold, and I was afraid to get sick. I wouldn't even give this a one star review. But it's the lowest I can go. This place destroyed what was to be a much needed relaxing getaway from what has been a very stressful time in my life. Taking care of aging parents, not to mention the things going on in the world. So my nerves needed a break. Arrived at the "resort" (don't let the look from the street fool you. It's a hell hole) and checked in. Donna was very friendly and put us in a room by the River, stating that she didn't understand why more people didn't want those rooms. I can give her many reasons. First night, 10:30 PM. I stepped in the shower. Washing my hair, I look up and see HUGE spots of mold all over the ceiling. I have a suppressed immune system and cannot be around mold. I immediately called the front desk. They sent Matt over with a spray bottle to "put a protective film over the mold". Was told the state of Tennessee allows for a certain amount of mold. Not good enough. Went to the front desk and had them move me. Mold in that room as well. Go to brush my teeth. Water pours out of the drain pipe all over the floor. Had a second sink in the bedroom. Had to move to it. Called front desk. They asked me to deal with it. I said no. They said they would have maintenance come next day and fix it. Maintenance came and left while we were gone. Went to brush teeth that night and... water, water everywhere. Called front desk. Matt comes again. Fixed it. He took all of the towels to clean up his mess and never replenished them. Decided to sleep in the next morning given he once again came at 10:30 PM. Nope. Not to be. Front desk calls early and wakes me. Says room needs to be evacuated ASAP. Bathtub is leaking into the room below. So... out the door we go. Went to eat. Got a call from front desk informing me that security has told them I am double parked and need to move immediately. Spaces are small and I have a pickup truck. I hurried back to find that my front tire was on the inside of the white line. Not double parked. That's when they found out how I really felt about their "resort". They said they would have the department call me next morning that makes things right. They called the next afternoon and offered me THIRTY DOLLARS BACK!!! I said that was an insult and to keep their money. They finally reimbursed one night. ONE NIGHT. This place is a DUMP! Do. Not. Waste. Your. Money. It's a health hazard and should be razed or completely gutted and redone. I haven't even discussed the plastic shower rods cut in half to support the two sinks in the room, the dated interior, the little plastic table and two chairs (the weaving was broken on the one) that grace the enormous balcony that could be made to be a nice place to rest. I'm sure at one time, this place was state of the art. Maybe in the 50's. But the lack of care and maintenance has destroyed this place. If you plan to book here... DON'T! They will lie to your face with a smile and laugh behind your back as they steal your money. Don't book at The River Terrace. You will regret it. read more

**PET PARENTS BEWARE** Well where to begin. I have stayed at this resort multiple times over the last few years and have just been floored with what I found out today. We are Tennessee residents and were planning a weekend getaway to enjoy the Smokys. I called to reserve a room that was pet friendly and was informed (flippantly and uncaring) that there is a "one time non-refundable pet cleaning fee of $170" - this has definitely changed since my last visit and extremely excessive, especially for a 2 night stay. For what are actually LOW QUALITY rooms, the only thing this place has to offer is location. After 10 different stays over the last 2 years between my wife and myself, multiple recommendations to friends and relatives - I WILL NEVER grace the doors of this place again. WR - get with the program, nowadays, pets are part of family vacations - NOT something to exploit - especially for K-Town locals who loved you and G'burg... This is just unacceptable. Negatives: Guest service was horrible. Check in was messed up and took extended time to correct. Staff never informed us of the 2 pools, one of which was completely under reconstruction. Recent posted health inspection showed multiple bad offenses. Room keys stopped functioning and had to seek assistance from front desk. Room carpet filthy, multiple stains present, left feet dirty, wore flip flops inside instead. Mold on carpet by refrigerator, moved frig over for staff to see when cleaning. Housekeeping left mold on floor for 2 room cleanings. Did not refill tissues x2 days. Sink faucet wouldn't turn off, slow drip at all times unless you could find the "just right" position. Refrigerator worked poorly, ended up using the ice tray area to keep water cold. Room chair wobbly. Lighting was poor. WILL NOT RETURN. This place is amazing in the way that it's literally in the middle of downtown Gatlinburg. So convenient. The staff is wonderful- front desk and housekeeping manager specifically. The rooms are outdated, but I'm okay with that for the location. We had a few issues in our room on night one. By morning, they had us moved to an upgraded room with spectacular views. So disapointed on my return visit this year! We didn't know they closed the bar/restaraunt which we rely on. Pools were off and on open, room electrical outlets didn't work, door keys never work right, tv cable broken and "rigged to fit." Parking is impossible. No room services which is the biggest problem of all. Was swimming with my daughter when the pool light floated out of its socket and into the pool with the power on. We were pleased with our room (and the overall hotel) in the River Terrace Lodge at their Atrium Tower building. Our hallway overlooked a ballroom space. There was a small balcony for each room, and the accommodations in this section were quite nice, better than expected for a 2.5 star inn. We had to find something quick and Expedia provided exceptional service when our first booking didn't work out after we checked in. This was clean, comfy, and within walking distance of the Gatlinburg strip. We only really visit the Smoky Mountains national park for hiking and site seeing, so we certainly don't need to be close to the hubbub, but it worked out fine. The staff was friendly and gave helpful information. We will definitely keep this place in mind the next time we visit and I would recommend. read more

I stayed here for a timeshare. Their speel was two nights, two waterpark passes at their main resort, and they told me a $100 gift card for local restaurants, including but not limited to Olive Garden, for a 90 minute presentation and $100. Fair enough, or so I thought. First off, the Westgate people will lie to you and say this place is leased and not one of their properties. But you'll probably figure it out from their branding. So Steve, what was actually wrong with this place? -Repeated millipedes in the room. Don't know where they came from, but I won't forget the crunch sound of killing them. -The shower curtain literally doesn't fit in the shower. It is too short, and hangs out. Wtf? -The toilet paper roll holder is hidden under the bathroom counter, behind the toilet. -This place has not been updated since maybe the 1990s. When they repair, it is as cheap as possible. It looks like a shower curtain rod is holding up the sink in the bathroom. -The sinks are not from this country, or are broken. Literally, they move in the wrong direction to operate. -The water pressure for the toilet, and hot tub, rivals that of an eye dropper. More on the hot tub below. . . -Lighting is very poor, and yellow, in the room. -The air conditioner does not work. We had it on COOL, at HIGH fan level, at the lowest air temperature, and it was cooler to leave the door open. We didn't because everyone smokes immediately outside their rooms, but after passing the second hand cloud, it was much cooler outside than full blast AC. -The mini fridge did not work. We put room temperature drinks in around 1800 Friday, and they were still room temperature the next morning at 1000. -Parking is very limited. So their taxi people sit in the drives sideways, taking up to three spots for one van, while they play on their phones for hours. -Stains on the curtains visible from inside the room, and outside the room. -Stains on the carpet. -The drawers do not function well. -The hot tub drains slower than the eye dropped speed of the faucet, and the jets do not work. It is a painfully slowly functioning bathtub in the main living space. -Their fancy TV's cable box just dangles underneath it, Sunny in Philly style. -While staying here, we asked about adding a night. The front desk said they will give a discount from the $229/night rate (WHAT!?), for $159. I laughed, but hadn't seen the room yet. Since we wanted to stay, I called the people I booked through. They wanted $89 after taxes and fees. I laughed, and said "This is a fudging crap hole, and it isn't worth $50, but I don't want to move my stuff to another hotel." She came back with $56 after taxes and fees for another night. -So while here, the house cleaner broke into our room. Of course, we had the Do Not Disturb sign up. My fiance was changing, and I hear a sound at the door like a faint scratching. Quieter than when a raccoon tried to get in the backdoor at home. I'm walking towards the door, and this Hispanic woman barges in. Umm, wtf?! Zero English. Eventually she pulls up her phone translator, "This room is out." No, it's not, get the fudge out. We had added our day on our first day there, so 48 hours later, it should not be an issue. If you want to learn about their janky water park, how they lied about the gift cards (they aren't gift cards but a card to buy a coupon for X off when you make a Y purchase, and there are zero restaurants within 50 miles, and it does NOT include Olive Garden), and their bogus Timeshare at the main Westgate Resort, hop on over to check it out! read more

I think we paid around $82 per night (Base room cost, pre-taxes) for this room for 2 weeknights. The building itself was pretty outdated and needs some serious updating. Bathrooms / carpet / furniture all need updating. Also the rooms are very dimly lit, and it's hard to see in there at night. You do not have a personal balcony, it's just kind-of a shared walking space, but they do provide plastic chairs if you'd like to sit outside. On the plus side: The rooms are a very nice size - pretty large as far as hotel rooms go. The first night we stayed we had really comfortable beds! I was happily surprised with the comfort of the mattress. The 2nd night, we had to move rooms, and our 2nd room did NOT have the same mattress and it sucked. Apparently they were in the process of swapping out mattresses, and we ended up with an older one. The pool area was a nice size and the water temperature was nice! After a hot day we were able to relax and cool off a bit by the pool! It was definitely a plus, that we enjoyed. We had a decent view from the buidling we were in. We had a decent "mountain view". Overall I guess it was pretty fair. The website we booked through claimed that we got a last minute deal, and that the rooms normally went for like $129 a night - there is NO WAY I'd pay that for this room. I'd say $75-80 is fair. read more

This place has not been well maintained for decades. I stay in Gatlinburg about twice a year and this is the most rundown place I have ever stayed. We picked this spot for out short trip to the Smokey Mountains mainly because it is pet friendly. Also, it was reasonable priced. My wife and I had stayed here before in years past so we were familiar with the location. Upon arrival on June 1 we were impressed at how nice the place looked and how well the buildings and grounds were kept. The resort is located on on the river road in the heart of Gatlinburg so the traffic isn't nearly as bad as it is on the main drag and it is much quieter. But there is a walkway directly across the street from the hotel to get to the main street of the town and access to all its shops and attractions. That was very nice! The staff was friendly and courteous. The pool, although we didn't use it, was very clean and well maintained. In fa t all the exterior locations were immaculate! BUT, first of all when we checked in we were told of a $100.00, non-refundable fee for out small dog. We were not told of this when we booked the room. There was nothing we could do but pay it. NOW, the room was severely dated. It was clean but looked like it hadn't been updated for many, many years. Floor tiles were cracked and the paint was chipping. The bed sagged and there was a Jacuzzi tub smack-dab in the middle of the room. It was very inconvenient and not inviting at all. And because of Covid, we had no housekeeping services. The promised WiFi was virtually non-existent. We were two rooms away from the router and couldn't get a signal at all most of the time. The convenient location made up for a lot of faults but I'm not sure if it was enough to make me go back unless I know they have done some room renovations. read more
