I meant to leave this review a while ago. We were walking around the area and stumbled upon this shop. It had a ton of treats that they seemed to make in house. We had five of us, so we tried to buy stuff that we were unfamiliar with, instead of the usual treats we have at home. I'm not able to eat much sugar, so I didn't try anything, but I wanted to! Lol... my kids and their dad loved everything they chose. I thought the value was definitely there and the shop was clean and had a fun vibe with a nice staff. On the Riverfront Cobblestone Street in Historical Savannah Tony Vanoy and I was strolling around! Except for the Homeless Bugging you for handouts it was extremely nice! There was a nice breeze along the river and it was 93 degrees! We came out of the bar " The Warehouse" and immediately you are greeted by the century old store front of "RIVER STREET SWEETS" & I had to go in!! Tony waited outside enjoying the fact he could drink his draft beer outside and enjoy his cigarette! I looked at every nook and cranny of this store! I had a sample of the Pink Grapefruit Sorbet in the Ice Cream Parlor in back of store....it was killer but I limited myself to one sample even though I had a hard time deciding! I ended up buying about 10 pieces of Salt Water Taffy various fruity flavors and 2 pieces of Sugar Free Homemade Chocolate! Pecan Turtle Patty and Coconut Stack! I have not eaten them yet going to wait until tomorrow...I had a smoothie earlier and some cookie samples! I'm on a diet....got to use some self-control! Wow! This is the sweet shop of all sweet tooth lovers dreams! It has everything you could need in more. We fell in love with their world famous pralines and went home with over a pound of them. We also had ice cream. I got the blue moon (fruit loop) in a waffle cone. It was a one of a kind experience. My friend had coconut gelato and loved hers. We loved watching things be made while there too. It was a super cool experience unlike any other. The store was colorful and filled from side to side with sweets galore. Wow! The sweet smell fills the air as you walk by. It lured us to come right in and look around. Friendly and helpful staff. They offered us fresh samples of the pralines which were rich and sweet. They have an amazing selection of freshly made fudge and chocolates. I also appreciate the variety of white chocolate choices they feature. It is very decadent. As a surprise coming back from a trip from Savannah Georgia my boyfriend brought home some Bear Claws and Pralines for me to try for the first time from River Street Sweets since I was unable to go on this trip with him! Needless to say I fell in love with them and have been craving them ever since! Fast forward a couple months and today I was finally able to come experience River Street Sweets personally with him! This sweets shop is a candy and chocolate lovers dream! Walking through those big doors made you feel like you were being transported back in time... It's every kids dream candy store. I'm a big chocolate lover and I was overwhelmed trying to pick a section to start at to see everything they had to offer! We ordered the Rocky Road Bark to try and it was delicious! We were so excited to try it I didn't get to take a picture of it I completely forgot it had milk and white chocolate marshmallows, almonds. We then ordered Bear Claws to take home with us because other than trying another new sweet treat I was on a mission to bring Bear Claws back home to Miami with me To our surprise they had a special going if you spent around $25.99 or more on Pralines you got a 1/2 lb of Pralines free! We were pleasantly surprised with this deal and we cant wait to get home and have some Bear Claws! I was very disappointed by an interaction I witnessed outside River Street Sweets on New Year's Eve in Savannah. While standing nearby, I observed an employee aggressively arguing with two women who were navigating the crowded sidewalk with a baby in a stroller. The women simply made a polite comment asking him to be mindful of the stroller, as he was carrying two large high chairs that appeared difficult to see around. What seemed like a reasonable and courteous heads-up was met with unnecessary hostility. The employee responded by raising his voice, using profanity, and repeatedly calling the women "bitches," all in front of children and other passersby. The confrontation continued for several minutes outside the storefront, creating an uncomfortable and inappropriate scene. Regardless of the circumstances, this type of language and behavior -- especially in front of a baby and other families -- is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the business. Savannah is known for its hospitality, and this interaction fell far short of that standard. I hope management addresses this, as no customer or bystander should be subjected to such conduct read more

I waited 15 minutes in line and when i got to the front the cashier informed me that she was leaving and I needed to get in the other line. I waited in the new line for 10 minutes and when I got to the front, the other cashier moved to a new machine (and a new line) without saying a word to me. I was never able to get what I came in for. I feel as if i was discriminated against for some reason. Also, I was looking to purchase something on a stick so it didn't affect me directly, but all of the girls were handling money with the same gloves they were picking up candy with. If I were just to review the praline it would be a 5 star review. But... I called customer service today and had the misfortune of reaching a totally disinterested 'customer service' person named Kim. I needed to change the shipping date from today to next week for a valid reason. Kim was just all boredom and gloom with a not interested in helping me attitude. I spoke to her 3.5 hrs ago and I'm still waiting for an update phone call from her. How difficult would it have been to get up, grab a box and change a date? Kim What / How will you ever handle a real crisis? Is your laziness due to my request not being in your 'job description'? Well, please let your boss know, I'm sure they'd be interested in discussing it with you. Given my experience, I'm not sure why there is even a customer service line. read more

My first time at River Street Sweets and what a delicious experience. Wall to wall and floor to ceiling treats. A true Candy land. And yes I was like a kid in a candy store. Lol But you just have to try the pralines. Weather it's cover in dark chocolate or milk chocolate it don't matter. I know this because I bought both and both were equally fantastic. Hands down the best Pralines I've ever had. The only glitch was that the check out person seemed a little confused about which customer was next in line. She kept taking different people in no particular order and was having trouble working the "cash register" (Is that even a term anymore?) lol. But it was still a wonderful experience. Walking in this candy shop had a lot of options. It was clean and people seemed pleasant and smiles. They also have a lot of candy that you don't see anymore. Lots of candies from 20 or even 30-40 years ago and only see at specialty places occasionally. There was only 1 negative and that was that I picked up one container of a candy I was reminiscing about and it was expired. I looked at others and I didn't see any others like that but it did make me question how often the supplies are being turned over. In all it was a fun place to look through. read more

This is a must do for me when in Savannah - love my pralines! I love that you can get a free sample when you walk in, and they have a huge variety of sweets including taffy. The sugar here is not cheap, but it's special. I usually grab at least a few pralines for the road and sometimes more. It's fun to watch them make the taffy, very interesting to see. Today they had a special where you buy 1 lb of pralines and get a 1/2 lb free so that was nice. The staff is friendly and you can usually get in and out pretty quickly. read more

Always delicious! I use them for parties as snacks and favors. I love to get the huge pecan pralines and I ordered 9 lbs of them for favors at my best friend in Savannah's birthday. I can make them, but they are never as pretty as the Riverstreet Sweet's pralines. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is that I had a significant language barrier when placing the order so I called the customer service line to make sure my order was correct and then when I called the morning of the day I was to pick them up they could not grasp that I didn't want to place an order because I would be picking my order up! Then I had to repeat what I had ordered multiple times. Anyway, I did get my order and everyone at the party loved them. I put two in each candy bag with a sticker of my friend being hugged by an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas! Made a great party favor. Next time I'll use the Riverstreet Sweets on Broughton Street. They were much more together when I stopped by. read more

To me this place screamed tourist...and in a bad way. It is like any other tourist sweet shop. The kind you find on boardwalks in Santa Cruz CA. or big touristy destinations. I think there are better local more unique places to get your sugar fix on imho. read more
