Personal experience: What has happened to the quality of River City food? I have been eating here for years and the food has gone down gradually. This most recent experience will probably be last. We stopped by last night and spent around $50 on various items and sadly found everything chocolate dipped to be very stale. We didn't get a piece of fudge and that was delicious! It was very disappointing to find that the chocolate dipped Oreos, pretzels, and smores were all a waste of money. read more

Visiting Myrtle Beach for the week and stopped by River Street Sweets. The pralines are delicious! We also love the salt water taffy.

Employees super friendly and patient! They offer free samples - which always helps to make purchase decisions. Candy/chocolate/fudge etc...appeared to be made on premise. We got the Bear Paws (never even heard of these) and some other chocolate/caramel/nut goody and everything was super fresh and delicious. Go here - you won't be disappointed! I just had a terrible experience at this location. My family and I were waiting to make a purchase. We were behind a family with a large order. We were waiting almost 20 minutes. There were 2 women at the register. One was ringing up the family ahead of us. The other person was standing next to her. A woman got on line behind us, then the woman standing next to the cashier came and rang up the person behind us. When that customer left, I let the woman at the second register know that we had been waiting for 20 minutes and we were next and that she had skipped us. She smirked and said " and?". I informed the manager, who apologized and offered to ring us up. Of course we left without making a purchase. There is nothing in this store that can't be purchased at the other candy store at Barefoot landing. I can promise you that we will never purchase anything from this place again. It might be worth mentioning that my family is of mixed ethnicity, the second cashier is white and the woman she helped ahead of us was also white. read more

The wonderful aromas and friendly atmosphere of this little candy store make it the very best. I have to say that their pralines are my absolute favorite and I even order from them on-line and ship to my family and friends for holidays and special occasions. This aspect makes it so much more convenient since I cannot always get down to Myrtle Beach as it is 3 hours away. They make the candy right there in front of you and their staff is very helpful and genuinely friendly. Their prices in store are much cheaper than ordering on-line. Not to mention they always give free samples of their candies! read more
