The folks there were looking for good food, and they all appeared to have found it. The menu included breakfast (on select days), sandwiches, loaded potatoes, plates/platters (wings, catfish, shrimp), fried chicken, and more. The fish sandwich caught my eye. It was simple but delicious. I asked my serve to add mayo. I think some tartar sauce would also be good. My server was friendly, helpful, and appropriately attentive. I'll stop by again when I'm in the area.

The food is consistently good. The burgers are legit, the sausage dogs hit the spot, but the real winner (in my opinion) is the chicken sandwich. They throw on peppers and onions, and it's fantastic -- easily my go-to. It's the kind of sandwich that makes you not care what the place looks like.

Note, they are closed on Wednesdays, but they are open Sundays if you're looking for a delicious after church lunch. Before I get into this review, lets set the stage. First of all, for whatever reason, folks down here in the South (at least my area of the South) have absolutely no idea what GOOD Mexican food should be like. In every single Mexican restaurant my wife and I have tried (with the exception of La veracruzana), the food has been abysmal. The meat has always been this paste that seems more fitting in a Taco Bell taco than on your plate at a Mexican restaurant. Everything was from a can or a jar. Nothing home made. Now, the review... This little restaurant is an absolute gem! They know what GOOD Mexican food should be like. I've included pictures of their menu. Note, they have meat options. That right there should tell you something. In all these other "mexican" restaurants, you got 2 choices: ground beef or chicken (maybe). La veracruzana did not disappoint. Portions were good, price was just right. I ordered #43, Enchiladas, steak with green sauce. VERY good. Great beans and rice and very flavorful enchiladas. Wife ordered #20, Chimichanga with rice and beans, steak. It was delicious and big! We will be trying many different things on the menu. The restaurant is small. There are some tables and chairs but no booths. Other side of the place is a Mexican store with a pretty good selection of goods. Service was terrific and friendly. Absolutely will be going back.

It's easily one of the best breakfasts I've had since I last visited the Pacific Northwest. Now, I love me a good omelette (and shame on me for not remembering the name of this one on the menu) this monster is loaded with bacon, sausage, ham, bell pepper, onion and cheddar cheese, expertly cooked. Everything was hot, fresh and mouthwateringly delicious! This omelette came with a choice of hash brown patties or grits on the side, and choice of toast or a freshly baked biscuit. I opted for the hash browns and the biscuit, both of which were fantastic! The best part of this whole thing was that, the omelette, the hash browns, the country gravy, the biscuit AND the coffee totaled $9.95 with sales tax!! And even better than that, the small town hospitality was genuine, warm and exceptionally friendly. They were so welcoming and pleasant, that I know I will return here again soon for the hospitality, the great food, and the awesome price! I'm looking forward to trying other items on their menu. If everything is as awesome as this breakfast was, I may have just found a gold mine! If you're passing through Chatom Alabama, and you're feeling hungry, this is the place to stop!
