This course has the big 3 of all issues of value courses. 7 minute T times, no ranger, and bad course shape. This results in 5+ hour rounds. The easiest fix is to raise prices by $20, space out to 12 minute at times, and fix the course. I cannot recommend it to anyone who takes the game seriously. read more

What once was an Ocean City gem is now an unplayable golf course. Even at half of usual tee time price, it was not worth it. Literally no grass in fairways, burnt out greens, ruined tee boxes, and overgrown and unmanaged rough. An awful golf experience. We were not informed about the course conditions when we paid our fee. At a minimum, the pro shop staff should have given us a heads up. It's a real shame that a once beautiful course looks as it does. read more

Worst course i have ever played at in my life! 110 dollars for a course I wouldn't pay 30 to play! Staff was very friendly but that was the only good thing. Fairways all had mud and the bunkers were filled with water! If I was a sheep or a cow I wouldn't even graze on this course! I've played 20 dollar courses that were better! read more

We ended up at River Run because they had an available tee time in the AM. This is a Gary Player course. Fairways are long and well maintained. Player likes a lot of water & tricky traps on his courses. We had a very nice round of 18. They do have the beverage cart making the rounds plus a small grill at the 9th hole turn. Course was in pretty good condition. Few holes on the back 9 had greens with burned areas and maybe a fairway or too with burned/dead grass but over all pretty fun course to play if you can keep it out of the trees. Unfortunately got stuck behind one of the slowest groups ever. The Marshall attempted to get the group to speed up once but didn't work. Luckily I had to plans. Definitely would visit again next time I'm in Ocean City! read more

Came down for a quick weekend and despite some wild March weather, and construction near some of the holes, had a great round! Course was in great shape for March. Other review's pictures were not the case for us. I also wanted to call out the staff, they were excellent! I left my range finder in a cart and Brian was kind enough to grab it and ship it back to me. Will definitely return! read more

Went golfing with some great friends for a relaxing day of golf. The course is tore up and is in poor shape, but that's not why I'm writing the review. The Ranger was a jerk, we paid $115, shame on them for not letting us know the condition of the course. We finished in under four hours, No one was in front of us or behind us the whole day, but on 16 he approached us like we were elementary students and reviewed our time, and made a comment about how we were golfing, two of us golfed in the low 80s and the other two in the low 90s, which I don't think is bad, but he must be an expert or at least he thinks he is. Weekend get away golf trip with the boys with a "free" steak dinner. Pros and Cons, there are no pros. Cons. The course was in atrocious condition, even being this early in the season. Pace of play was terrible with stacking players on top of each other with no lead time. Sand traps we either full of water or hard as a brick. We were willing to over look all of that and have a good time but then came the turn. Who the hell price gouges the worst hot dog and burgers we have ever had, to a whopping 9 dollars a dog and 13 dollars for a burger. This is where we start really looking around like what the heck is going on we are getting swindled. To top it all off our trip included a "free" steak dinner but was nice of them to throw that 40 dollar tip on our free meal. We wouldn't have minded the tip at all but Jesus H Christ that steak had to have been freezer burnt. I took one bite that I had to force down my throat. I wouldn't even have fed that meat to my dog because it sure wasn't quality steak. So with that being said I would and will never return to that course and we have this annual trip every year. read more

The are charging well over $100 for a round of golf and the course is in the worst condition in years. Every green is burned or has more sand on it than a bunker. read more

We played River Run earlier in the week. Upon arrival we were told in the pro shop that the greens on 10,12,13 & 14 were under construction and were offered a $30 discount per player ($65 v $95). We were pleased with their honesty, even though they could have told us this on the phone when booking. Course was a nice layout. Per pro shop 90 players on the day so pace was fine. As explained those greens were pretty rough but the reduced price and honesty compensated for the condition. We enjoyed our round and decided to return today. We booked our tee time and confirmed that the rate would be the same as 2 days prior ($65). Upon arrival today we were told the greens have returned (in 2 days hmmm) and the rate would be $95. We were also told that the day before an excavator snapped the club house cable line so the booking system was down along with the course. One would wonder if they were making up for the lost revenue at the cost of the players. 135 players today pace was ok with some waiting as expected as for the greens... I'll let you be the judge see the pictures. If considering playing for the late summer of 2022 I would look elsewhere, plenty of courses with competitive rates and solid greens. I'm sure the course is great in spring and when it's watered. Appears focus is being put more on new construction and less on the course. read more

So we played River Run yesterday and just got around to doing the review. The greens were very fast but putted true. The greens were not very big nor were they very undulating (that is good and bad). This course was a nice surprise. Played here this fall and was worried about bad reviews stating poor conditions. Almost changed times due to these reviews. Was happy we didn't change courses. Staff was pleasant and spacing between foursomes was amazing. The only poor conditions we encountered were outside of the golf course. There was construction happening on homes that will eventually surround the course. But course itself was great. Staff still apologized for the conditions and offered a 20 dollar discount on future round. We would not have known otherwise. Interesting course. Challenging. But good for all levels of golfers. New chef at the restaurant knows what he is doing in the kitchen. I have eaten there three times in the past two months and loved it each time. Buy 1 entree at full price and get the 2nd entree 1/2 off and then you get a free greens fee. I got the filet and crab cake for $28 and it was delicious. Now, the golf course... It is an ok golf course. I think it is overpriced but they will negotiate from what I hear - you just have to ask for a better deal. The driving range can accomodate about 12 to 15 comfortably. I think the rangers need to do a better job of keeping players on pace. I am always waiting to hit (more than I do at other courses). I know waiting to hit is part of the game almost every where you play but you seem to wait a lot at River Run. There are some holes that are in great shape from tee box to green but there are some that are in sad shape from tee box to green. I think this is part of being so close to the bay and poor drainage throughout the course. Many older women hack up the course too. I see a lot of divots not replaced from 120 yards in and tons of ball marks that haven't been repaired. Some fringes look like muddy yards and others look like well kept/maintained. Overall I think it is an ok to good course - but not worth $90+ green fees. I would say it is a $40 to $50 course - but then again, this is the beach and I'm sure that has to do with the high fees. It is a must to ask for a better rate. The yardage markers on the tee boxes, yardage markers on the fairways, and the yardage on the scorecard is unreliable (but whenever are they reliable). Oh, and you will only see the cart girl one or two times max (if at all). There are plenty of places to get cold water though! read more

What an awful golf course. Does Gary Player even know his name is attached to this place? I've played about 10 courses in the Ocean City/Delaware area and this is the worst one. And then at a rate of $124 it's a complete ripoff. We asked about the driving range and were told go on over, there are free balls to hit....yep, there were about 15 balls to share between the 3 of us! On the course, there is no hole by hole map on the scorecard; no hole maps at each tee box, and no GPS. So you are on your own to guess where each hole plays. Most of the fairways have no 'first cut' and most of the greens don't either. This place is about on par with the $25 muni course down the street. Oh yeah...a hot dog is $5.50 and a tuna sandwich is $10. The beer cart came around once in 18 holes. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. YOU WILL BE SORRY. YOU READ IT HERE read more

On hole 11, we waited 30 minutes so the foursome in front of us could take 3 shots to make it past the ladies tees. No ranger in site. I have been playing golf a long time and never had difficulties getting my money back when the weather is bad (and in this case, I mean awful). It pretty rained heavily the night before, and was drizzling all morning, to be followed by a deluge about a half hour after our tee time. Real simple. Don't waste your time here unless you want that back yard feeling when you play golf. The greens were like putting either in the rough or in a sand box. Grass was sparse in the fairways yet there was a healthy variety of thick weeds in the rough. The service staff was evasive to tell you about the course condition and seemed not to care to be there. The members of the course appeared to be snobbish and did not like us outsiders being on their shoddy paradise. read more

I played this course last summer, and I found the conditions to be quite average. The layout is kooky, having to go way off course at the turn to get food & drink at the clubhouse. We asked if there would be cart service and was told there would be. We didn't see the cart girl all day -- not even once. On a good note, when we went off course at the turn, the clubhouse staff were quite responsive. The chef even rode a cart out to us to bring us food & drink. Bravo! Overall, this was not worth the cost. There are/were too many other better options that cost less. read more

Played this course on 8/10/19. This was undoubtedly the biggest joke I've ever come across in a golf course. There were literally no fairways in the course. They were heavily damaged with little grass. The tee boxes were awful. We were told the greens were perfect. They're not. Cart path only in the beginning of August! Here's the thing, we should have been told about the awful course conditions before they took our hard earned money. I booked this course through a reputable golf packager. I relayed our concerns about this dreadful course. My packager called the course and was basically told they would do nothing about it. So we wasted our money and time playing a course that quite frankly should have been quarantined. I'm disgusted. Apparently, the course doesn't care either. Oh well, they will never see my money again and I'll be sure to let anyone who will listen to never trust this place again. I wish I could give zero stars because that's what it deserved. Terrible course and terrible way to handle a situation. read more

We played after a few days of rain and this course does not drain well. It was very wet and the rough so deep, finding an errant shot was a challenge. Fairways and greens not in good shape. For the same fee there are other good courses in the area. It is a very playable course as are most of Gary Player's designs. read more

When I arrived the staff could not have been more friendly. I booked as a single and showed up an hour before my tee time. When I checked in with the started he gave me a cart to get my bag out of the car and joined up with another single right away. The course is tight, but if you hit the shots you are trying to hit you can have a great time. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of playing there. We had a ton of rain the night before, but I can't wait to go back when it is dry. For the value this course can't be beat. I'm a single digit handicap and plan to play there many more times when I'm in the area for sure. PS - The pace of play was amazing. As a twosome we played in 3.25 hours on a Saturday!!!! read more

Not really sure where to start. We had to go here because it was part of the package. Anyhow we had a large group I believe 7 sets of foursomes. The course is situated in what looks like a neighborhood that needs and overhaul. So the sad part is the course could be about 4 stars if it wasn't so neglected. The fairways were hairier then my balls. The facilities sucked . The cart girl was a slob. They were out of everything. I had to settle for a soda machine on one of the holes on the back nine. I asked for a hotdog at the shack on the turn and winded up with a pack of crackers. Finally on the 18th hole. I hit a decent drive just in the rough off to the right. I could see the guy on a tractor cutting the grass. He waited for us to hit which is standard protocol. Then I seen him start cutting right near my ball. When I get to the area where I thought I was lying the ball was not there. It was found about 30 yards behind where it was. The ball was barely recognizably but it was identified as mine split in half. That summed the whole day up. F-ing joke. I won't be back. read more
