This store is such a nice, clean and bright store. They have a wide selection of groceries and a…read moreseparate liquor section which is something that can be lacking in the small town grocery stores. One nice thing about the store is they carry items from nearby bakery and a nearby tea room so there are some unique offerings. The prices are about average, maybe a tad higher than other stores, but it will worth the convenience of not having to drive back to Cedar Falls. My only criticism is whenever I have used the Chester Chicken deli portion of the store, it always seems like the employees think it is a chore to wait on me. Case in point, I was there with my dad to pick up some lunch for us, my brother and nephew today. We get there and make up our minds for what we want and ring the bell for service. There are two employees in the back that see us, but make us wait another 5 to 10 minutes before coming up to wait on us. Why couldn't one of the employees come up and take our order? It was nowhere near busy. Please Brothers, make sure your employees know that when the deli counter is not busy and there are more than 1 person in the deli that no customer should ever be kept waiting. Otherwise, keep of the good work.

Milkbox delivers in every way that is important to those that value quality--a byproduct of sustainably sourced ingredients, hard working humans who respect the trade and innovative products only real artisans can create. My only complaint is they do sell out of certain products, just get there early. For certain products, I asked to notice when they hit the shelves and always get what I want. Thanks for bringing this concept back to Cedar Falls. Europe is a long way to travel for a similar experience.

We came in to find about half of the pastries over baked or burnt. We ordered a brioche and a loaf of sourdough. The brioche was perfect and delicious, but the sourdough was very underproofed- dense and extremely gummy, which was so disappointing, especially considering the $9 price tag. I would go back to Milkbox in the future if I had heard that they'd improved their standards because it would be awesome to have a top notch local bakery.

THINGS TO KNOW: -Heartland Farms is a neat little farm area…read morethat's about a five-minute drive outside of Waterloo. All roads are paved to get there. -During May, they sell asparagus. During June, you have strawberries. Produce is sold in Mid-Summer, and it turns into a pumpkin/family fun destination in October. -Heartland Farms is also the location of the Heart of Darkness haunted house attraction during October. -They accept cash, credit, debit, and Snap-EBT. This particular review is reviewing visiting Heartland Farms in the middle of October for their Pumpkins/Halloween event. PROS: -Open during weekdays! The other pumpkin farm in the area (in Waverly) is not! -Lots of stuff to do! Most of this is mostly family-oriented, explore-it-yourself type of activities. Kids will especially love it, but it's cute for adults as well. We didn't do any of the activities, but they have a giant jumping pillow, tons of set-up areas for cute posed family and kid photos, a giant pumpkin cannon, lots of farm animals. They also have hayrides as well as a walk-at-your-own-pace "haunted cornfield" with still "scary" scenes for kids. Lots of pumpkins, gourds, and other fall plants decorating everywhere too. -You can just go there to purchase pumpkins without paying the entrance fee. You won't be able to enjoy any of the attractions if you do that, though. You'll just be able to buy pumpkins. -You can check the event calendar which is publically posted on their website to avoid coming when a school or other large group is scheduled to be at the farm. CONS: -Definitely mostly set-up for families. There aren't a whole lot to do with just adults. I mean, you can definitely explore the pumpkins or enjoy the animals, but a lot of the events (jumping pillow, pumpkin cannon, and more) are designed especially for family and children enjoyment. -Didn't see a place to pick your own pumpkins straight from the field. Look like they come pre-picked for you. -Farm is a lot smaller than other farms I've seen. I'm certainly not complaining (since I didn't have to fight for parking or anything else), but it definitely has a smaller, cuter feel to it.
