I've probably stopped in 6 or 7 times, and I rarely feel acknowledged when I walk in. Often the employees are occupied talking with friends or other people and don't greet or check in with customers. They also sometimes hold groups during regular business hours, with everyone seated in a circle near the shop, which can make walking in feel a little awkward when the whole group turns to look at you. My most recent experience was what finally prompted me to leave a review. A popular new book had just released, and even though I could have easily ordered it online, I specifically wanted to purchase it through my local bookstore. They didn't have it in stock, so I asked if they could order The Knave and the Moon for me. Once the employee was able to help me, they were genuinely very friendly, and they wrote down my information and book request on a piece of paper. I was told on Monday that I would likely receive a call by Friday. That was roughly 3-4 weeks ago, and I still haven't received a call or any update. I really want this bookstore to succeed, and I would much rather spend my money locally than order everything online. But after multiple visits where I've felt overlooked and now an order that seems to have fallen through the cracks, it's difficult to keep trying. I hope the customer experience and order follow-up improve, because I would genuinely love to have a local bookstore I can regularly support.
