My husband and I have been here multiple times and always had fun. This was the first time bringing our 2 year old. Literally no one in the outdoor gravel yard and they are wanting us to keep our son right next to us in a chair. I understand if the place is busy and safety is a concern, but the place was empty. He was walking up and down the stairs and it was told to me that the bar is 21 and up. If this is the case, this establishment needs to deny serving patrons that have children. We felt very unwelcome. We always visit local breweries with our child and never have an issue. Needless to say, not kid friendly. Don't waste your time visiting. Try the Foundry next time if you want a nice place to bring your kid and relax. read more

If you are in Rome for the day and the weather is great, make a stop here. You aren't going to get your dilly dilly type beers here, but you will have a nice selection of craft beer, on tap and in the can. The atmosphere of this place is relaxed and inviting. You'll see people wearing their bathing suits from a day on the river along side people dressed for a date night. You can bring food or order from the food truck, if it's there, or order take-out from Moe's BBQ next door. This is a little gem at the end of Broad Street on the Etowah. read more

Not family friendly. My wife, toddler and I were looking for a place to relax one afternoon. We had been to this establishment several times before. The three of us had the fenced in open space to ourselves. After about an hour of sipping some beers and watching our son play, the owner and his wife arrived. Shortly after that the owner came to talk with us. He told us to watch our child and to keep him within 3 feet of us at all times because of his liability insurance. I don't know any toddlers that can sit still and within 3 feet of their parent. My wife and I felt that he was hinting that we were not welcome. Our son was putting pebbles in an empty bowl nearby. We continued to watch him explore in our constant visual presence. When my wife went to pay the bill she asked to speak to the owner again. He did and she asked about his earlier comment. He seemed to dance around the subject saying that all his friends children were welcome but we had to watch our child. Then he went to get his wife for an assist. She didn't dance about the subject she told us directly that we were not watching our son and we were not welcome here. Our son was climbing the steps but always turned around the walk back to the gravel yard and toward us. The owners wife said that we were not watching him the entire time she was there, which was a total lie. So if any families are wanting a place to have a beer, go elsewhere. Mellow mushroom is very family friendly. read more
