My child attended this summer camp for two weeks and has been left with serious psychological…read moredistress. The instructors here showed an alarming lack of professionalism and misused their authority to unfairly target and humiliate him. They made false accusations, shouted at him without cause, punished him with arbitrary "time-outs," and consistently treated him with disrespect. Their behavior was not only inappropriate but also harmful. As a parent, I find this completely unacceptable. Children should feel safe, supported, and encouraged--not shamed, blamed, or bullied by the very people entrusted to care for them.

Good - 10 visit punchcard ($54.00 + GST) - this is the cost with a Be Active Pass card - 2 squash courts and 3 table tennis tables - Squash league ($18.00 to spare (up to 3 games), $63.00 for part time (up to 8 games) and $147.00 for full time) - Large multi-purpose gym for volleyball, badminton, basketball, soccer, etc. - Multiple drop-in times for sports (ie. Friday volleyball is very popular) - Less than 10 minute walk from the Metrotown skytrain - A couple of EV charging stations ($2.00/hour) Bad - Archaic booking system (no online booking system available. You have to call to book a squash/racquetball court) - Half the time when you call, staff doesn't answer - Downstairs weight room is cramped - 1 combo court (normally used for squash or racquetball but they currently refuse to move it) - 50% of the time the men's shower facilities don't have body wash You get what you pay for at Bonsor. Don't expect much and it does the trick.

I really like library but this one is not a really good one for adults. This place is a cute tiny…read morelibrary which has a very limited variety of books, mostly Chinese books as they have around half the main section. There are several table for you to sit in near the children stations and if you come in on weekdays, there're not any kids around bothering you. The kids station is quite big, with lots of books, games, and magazine, which is a big plus for this place. I feel like its mission is to encourage kids to come here and learn while playing at the same time. People here are nice and supportive. The place also has lots of event for the neighbors readers and kids, posting on the wall when you come in. For what it is, given the neighbourhood, it should be appreciated, as any other library!

While the Collingwood branch of the Vancouver Public Library system is technically in my…read moreneighbourhood and is the closest library to my home, I never go. In my 10+ years of living in the Collingwood area, I've only gone to this library maybe two or three times to return books, and only once have I stepped foot in it, as I have usually returned my books in the book drop. I have never gone to this branch to borrow or pick up a book, or for any of the other reasons I go to the library. The reason for this is not because I don't use libraries - quite the contrary! I go to the library at least a couple times a month (in fact, I'm currently the duchess of the central branch!), but the hours are extremely limited (it's closed on Mondays -- one of my days off -- and only open for a few hours on Sundays), and the location of the Collingwood branch is so damn inconvenient that it's easier and quicker for me to hop on the skytrain and go downtown. The Collingwood branch is located on the corner of Kingsway and Rupert, and while I suppose that there are people who must find this convenient, it's not at all a central location for most of the people living in the Collingwood area. The majority of the people in the Collingwood neighbourhood, such as myself, are not that close to Kingsway and Rupert, and in order for me to get there, it's at least a 20 minute walk, one way, uphill, or, a bus ride that due to the timing of the buses, locations of the stops, and the amount of walking required, would still take me a minimum of 20 minutes, one way, and that's only if the wait time between buses is at a minimum (I can't even get there with ONE bus -- the trip requires a connection between two buses!). So, a trip to and from the library would take me at least an hour. It wouldn't be that bad if the library were near anything, such as a grocery store, as that way I could combine it with other errands, but there is nothing near the library, and spending one hour just to return or pick up a book is ridiculous. All of that aside, the intersection of Kingsway and Boundary is awful. It's an extremely busy intersection with multiple lanes of traffic, confusing lights, and cars speeding by. It's such an unpleasant and dangerous intersection in an ugly area that the Collingwood Library is not a place I would go, unless I absolutely had to -- and due to the skytrain and the ease at getting downtown, I don't have to. The Collingwood area is growing, with several condos being built, but the area is not being properly developed (an upgraded skytrain with an A&W doesn't cut it). The area needs more grocery stores, coffee shops that aren't Tim Hortons, a community center (the Collingwood Neighbourhood House is not a proper community center, as there is no fitness center), and a better library. I'd love to see something similar to the Mount Pleasant branch, in which the library is in the same building as the community center. Two stars, because hey, a library is better than no library. But the location and the hours of this branch make it such an undesirable branch, that even though I live "near by" and go to the library several times a month, I never go to this branch. Collingwood is really convenient for me to get to, so it's a shame that it doesn't have a fitness…read moreroom, and only offers classes. However, I have had a lot of fun going to the classes over the years, and have made some friends through the classes. But they no longer have Bellyfit with Alicia (that was an amazing workout), and I am so damn bored with Zumba, that I don't go as often I used to. I just go for the Zumba Toning on Tuesday nights (I really wish they would change the Sunday afternoon Zumba class to Zumba Toning!), and when I have the day off (yay for flex days!), I try and make it to the new Monday afternoon Zumba Step class with Shadia.

this is a rather cute small community centre in a great neighbourhood home to a lot of young…read morefamilies. ive stopped in to watch an old bf play some pick-up basketball. i myself have only done drop in volleyball. i find the the activities are organized very well, they don't take payments over the phone so you have to make sure you get there and register a little early so you won't get turned away. i can't remember if they will take 'pre-registrations'. once inside, they set everything up and you can break up into the teams you want and you are off! the gym is nice, a normal size gym. (the size of 2 courts)...i know they offer bball and vball...probably badminton too and indoor soccer? they have a field behind it that hosts a lot of organized activities-ive seen mostly soccer lately. they have a great childcare program which includes infants, toddlers, daycare, preschool, kindergarten...etc. and the outdoor kiddie playground looks SUPER fun to play in!! (i just peak through the fence sometimes...lol)
