I moved back to the Vancouver area a couple years ago and had to go to a different dentist due to a change in insurance, but just got to start going back to Alder and couldn't be happier about it! This dental office is first class, from the always friendly staff to the clean and very well maintained office. They spend a significant amount of time cleaning your teeth, and unlike other dentists I've gone to, I leave my appointment feeling like everything was thoroughly cleaned. I could not recommend this dentist more. I have never had any serious issues with my teeth and credit Alder for helping me develop good habits and always getting such good care there!

I transferred here to have them done and…read morewith 8 of the roughly 12 fillings I've had done I've had issues with. 4 that I had done on my front teeth were done with a material that turned a total different color within a month. There are now noticeable brown spots on my front teeth. I also had a lot of pain during that appointment and didn't think it was their fault that I had a hard time getting numb but now I'm not so sure. I also had 4 fillings done in the back of my mouth within a couple weeks of each other. During one of these appointments Dr. Kim dropped the drill probably 3 times onto me and even had to get another one brought in. The lead dental assistant was resting tools on my teeth and the suction was pressed into the back of my mouth so much that I had to take a break from having my mouth open. 6 weeks later and I'm still having extreme pain from these appointments. I can't chew on that side, the top teeth bleed, throb and I can't put anything hot or cold in my mouth or it's excruciating. The pain is now in my ear and jaw. I'm constantly taking Tylenol until my appointment to have them fixed. I was also told I needed ANOTHER filling done during my cleaning. I went back to the original dentist and was told I don't need that additional filling, some of the fillings were bigger than they needed to be and she used a material for the front that he would not have used and the only way to fix the pain is to completely redo the fillings. I'm now out nearly $1400 to fix my teeth because insurance won't cover the same teeth more than once every two years. They offered to fix them but only if I went to the same dentist (the other dentist in the office said she wouldn't) I'm not sure how to be expected to trust more dental work by Dr. Kim with ALL of these problems. It's not one tooth bothering me, it's eight. I read other reviews about this office being "money hungry" and I should have listened and just went elsewhere.

After being awoken in my sleep to the throbbing pain in my jaw I decided to reach out to dental providers in the Vancouver area I started with two well-known dentists offices and was advised that unless I was ready to pull the tooth out myself due to pain they wouldn't be able to help me. Determined To get my pain under control I searched Google and Sunrise Dental of Vancouver populated. The receptionist answering the phone such a friendly voice and pleasant disposition she assured me that she would try to get me in to be seen as soon as possible and would let me know if there were any cancellations in the meantime. She called me this morning and advised they had a 9 AM cancellation. I arrived at about 845 to fill out paperwork at 9 AM was properly seated in the dental chair where my examination began. Their process for ensuring safety and and standardization is on point!! They were sanitizing frequently touched surfaces, there was hand sanitizer in each room, all appropriate PPE was worn, and yet it still did not feel like a standard business transaction. They made me feel comfortable and maintained their sense of humor . I was in and out with the first step of a root canal completed in an hour I know what you're thinking I thought it to root canals are so expensive how can I ever afford something like that during a worldwide crisis. They worked with me on payment to ensure this was taken care of. I'm driving home and for the first time in months I'm not in pain. I have found a dentist office that didn't treat me like a number or a nuisance. if you want to be treated with the upmost care and respect at a great price without feeling like someone's jerking you around or just trying to get all your money out of you... This is definitely the place you need to call!

They have dropped some coverage with certain insurance companies, but luckily ours wasn't one of them. They have also had a lot of dental hygienist turnover the last couple of years, but they seem to have a full staff again currently. That's been tough for us because we had been spoiled with having the same hygienist for years and got to know them, which added extra comfort to an otherwise stressful experience. I've never enjoyed going to the dentist, but seeing a familiar face had helped ease my anxiety. We love the relaxing spa vibes in this office. It feels clean and comfortable, but not overly clinical like some dentist offices. They offer beverages in the waiting room, which also has a couch and fireplace, making for a cozy environment. We also appreciate that they can make a crown while you wait and watch a Netflix movie. It's nice not have to wait a week for a third party to make the crown and leave the dentist office with a temporary. The in-house crowns we're not something we've experienced before, so that's a huge plus! Overall this is an exceptional dentist office. They have a nice relaxing environment and have the capabilities of performing most dental services in-house. We would highly recommend.
