I think it was $17 per ticket and you just check in at the podium near the bar when you arrive. They explained they system to us - give them a credit card to start a tab, then you can write your drink/food order on a paper and they'll come around throughout the show to grab your paper. Then they cash you out at your table right after the show. It was a quick and efficient system! They have canned beverage (alcohol and N/A) and some snacks - we enjoyed the Pop Corners and "Taste of Italy," which is a small plate of pizza rolls and mozzarella sticks. The show itself was SO funny! They did several fun skits, many of which involved audience suggestions. There were only a couple that didn't make me laugh as hard, but I was cracking up most of the show. It's incredible how the cast members can come up with things on the spot like that. One note, if you're a couple or group smaller than six people, you'll likely be seated at a table with others. We had fun chatting with our table mates but it would be a great group outing. I'm so glad we finally went back to The Comedy Project and am looking forward to seeing more shows! We went to the 7 pm show and they told us if we wanted to stay for the 9 pm show, you can get tickets for half off.

The staff may seem rough on the outer edges, but they are all actually teddy bears once you get to know them. Usually shows are standing room only, which is a drag if you are old like me and opt not to wear orthotics. Luckily, the 9 pm encore show was seated. My old bones appreciated this. Now look below as I'm fangirling in the attached photos! I absolutely adore Alok and their courage to humorously challenge the gender binary and systematically poke holes in the patriarchal system that comprises The USA.

The lineups are often pretty diverse, now offering more local music and the addition of more free events to bring together the community. They've added vintage nights, trivia, and free pinball days which I think is a very important and necessary community good. The venue has a front half with a bar, pinball cabinets, and even some outdoor seating. The back hosts the concert venue with interior bar, seating, and elevated stage. I'm allergic to alcohol so I can't speak to the drinks nor the prices but they have free water jugs readily available which is a lifesaver during shows and is just such a small, nice feature to have access to. I definitely would recommend coming here for a concert, finding some new local music, or establishing a new hang out for your friends.

I'm glad I got tickets online ahead of time, but they were still selling tickets at the door when we arrived about 20 minutes before the show. Memberships are only $15 and are good for the year. Membership gives you voting privileges for board seats as well as access to the bar at events. They sell some cocktails, beer, canned seltzers, and snacks. The theatre is historic and beautiful, and the seats were pretty comfortable. I will say it was a hot day and it got a tiny bit stuffy, but wasn't too bad. They show older movies and also have live music performances. I can't wait to come back to see more movies!

They host open mic nights (usually free), comedians, and niche musical artists. I believe the venue only sits around 100 people, but the intimate space makes for fun shows where artists can interact with the audience. There is a full service bar in the back and they serve a few snacky-type foods (popcorn, pretzels). Ticket prices range, and I think it's based on who they book. So just be in tune to their website for info. If you park in the "STUDIO PARK(ING)" ramp, they will validate the parking ticket. My experience seeing shows here has always been positive. One of the nice things about this venue is that there's not really a bad seat there, due to the small size of the room. It's pretty cozy, but I like the more intimate setup for shows. I will say that we could hear the concert happening outside on the lawn throughout the set, which was a bit distracting at times but not too bad. A server will take your order right from your seat - they have a small drink menu and a couple snack options. They only had one mocktail option available - a lemonade drink which was really sweet but tasty. I wish they had the other non-alcoholic drinks that One Twenty Three offers downstairs. Drinks are pretty pricey, and I'd skip the snacks and just head to One Twenty Three for dinner before or after the show. They close out your tab automatically at the end of the night and add a 20% gratuity. You can still ask to see your bill if you want to check the total, etc. I think this is useful so you don't have to flag down your server to close out your tab if it's busy. I still really like this venue, and will continue to seek out shows here.

Hey you folks living in or visiting Grand Rapids, this venue is a must go if you haven't been already, why? * Inexpensive dates: shows range from only $5-$12 ($15 for special events). * Convenient: located bang downtown, but not near "hard to park" busy downtown and there are bars and restaurants to grab a bite (woof) and drink before and after. * Variety: there are shows almost every single day suited for all audiences from Shakespeare to Second City style improv fans....and if there is not one for you, hell you can put on your own show here! (theater friendly). * Venue: LaughFest and other community-wide festivals have hosted some fantastic shows at DST and if you are a business, you can even host your own classes and workshops here at VERY affordable rates. P.S. It's a non-profit organization so update your Rockstar status by donating whenever you can even $5 to support and keep this local gem going and businesses can become a sponsor and get lots of cross-promotion and free swag. This place tends to have stand-up and sketch comedy as their go to (every Monday night), however Pigeon Creek Shakespear performs here as part of their tour for every show. As a performer or company coming in for production, they have a decent backstage with a medium-sized changing room and clothing racks for costumes. I also like that it has the capability of a backstage crossing for right or left entry points to the stage. The stage measures roughly 16'WX10'D, and is elevated off the ground around 2' so everyone in the audience at ground level five rows back can get a great seat and see the action onstage. This venue is great to see any performance, providing the performance is worth seeing. The intimacy, acoustics, and friendliness of the staff makes this venue worth checking out for at least a performance or two.

Initially I mentioned the "food cancelling out the two drink minimum" that's on the tickets and was told that wasn't true at first since they said they didn't have food and I'd have to go to Bobarinos for food. However, after showing them the tickets for this concert mentioning it, they said it was fine to cancel out which was nice because the drink I wanted was out and the drink menu isn't super big. The names are SUPER fun though and they have a fun mix of cocktails. I enjoyed mine with the pizza I got for Bobarinos (you have to go down, wait, and pick it up so budget time before the show starts). The space itself is pretty tight but was sufficient. My husband said he was a claustrophobic but he got over it once the show started. If you have groups of 6 or more, you can reserve spots (and they gave these people the best spots--we had to sit in the very front or far side). We got there an hour before which was good to get our choice of the available seats. All in all, it was a fun time. For whatever reason, the headliner is never as funny as the openers. The size of the space is perfect. There isn't a bad seat in the whole place. But the chairs/tables are definitely crammed in together, and pushed literally right up to the stage. It was FREEZING COLD in there. Why!? Even the comic made a comment about it. There is a two drink minimum, per person. But the drinks are not good. Really not good. They have a cocktail menu, and they include things like Razzmatazz, which I haven't drank (or even seen) since college. And it isn't like the drink prices reflect those crappy liqueurs. Our server was great, along with the lady that sat us. The line to get in from outside was enormous, but thankfully we walked straight to the front to skip it, and were let right in because we had the tickets for the show.
