Food is puke worthy, service is surly, price is too high for low quality. I ordered quesadilla nachos and got a plate of chips with a smattering of shredded cheese melted in a microwave, topped with baby-puke liquid mash of what might have been avocado cilantro jam. Inedible.

We've been coming here since they first opened, back then I would have rated it a 5 due to the good price, big portions, and quality. We usually cook at home, but when we've had long work days and are exhausted we tend to frequent this joint. Lately due to a new cook making up his own recipe the portions have been way smaller, missing certain key ingredients (we get a pastor burrito/steak fries each time) But if I were to wear blindfold and try the pastor burrito I couldn't tell you what it was, that's how different/bad it tasted. Also the prices have gotten outrageous and they're skimping you with combo trays to give you less steak fries. A burrito and steak fries should not cost you $30 and some change. Please get back to the ways that made you guys better than the other two competitors (Rancho/Betos) don't put profit over perfection. Thanks

Oh, snap the salsa bar was broken!

Ok, I heard from an associate to try this place out. The refried beans were of color, so pale, was that due to extra lard? The food was hot, but seemed just reheated. Two combo meals and a soft drink was around $40 and that's not including the tip that is pushed for!

Went through the drive thru at Rivas tonight. It was very easy to access from the street, seemed like plenty of parking, and I loved the bright lights attracting customers. The menu is quite large which makes it a little overwhelming, but I love that almost everything had pictures. I ended up choosing the pastor torta and my husband got a medium horchata. He gave the horchata a 4.7/5. Loved how bold the flavors were and the size was perfect. The .3 off was for his personal preference of it being just the tiniest bit too sweet. He still finished the entire thing regardless! As for the torta is was large and heavy. Such a generous sandwich. The pastor has a great char to it without being dry, the veggies on the sandwich seemed fresh, and my favorite part were the large juicy chunks of pineapple throughout the pastor. I tried the red and green sauces, loved both but could slurp up the green sauce, the red one just has a kick which was nice as well. I was so stuffed by the time I finished the sandwich and would happily get it again. And just as a bonus the woman serving the drive thru was very sweet and had my order out very quickly.

Update already: They don't tell you nor is there any signage that says they add a fee if using credit card!!! I'm fine with fees, you build it in to pricing and offer cash discount or you post it clearly. Fail! Meh after months of waiting, totally underwhelmed with the breakfast burrito. I'm first thing it was missing is that unique texture and flavor of the tortilla that these places are known for. Next they should fry the bacon to give it some crispy texture since the bacon was pretty chewy. This didn't go well w the style of potatoes in there. It was like eating a tube of mush. Pretty much abandoned the burrito two bites in. My quest for a decent breakfast burrito goes on! Maybe I'll return to try something that's more their specialty but I'll wait to see from other reviews. Not willing to be a guinea pig for that.

Beware restaurant had no signage charging 3.85% for using credit card. Pick another restaurant.

Ordered a fish burrito and it was decent. The salsa bar wasn't the great. Only red and green salsa was available. Green salsa is usually mild, but it was almost unbearable. Will not go back due to the hidden 3.85% charge for using my credit card as payment!

    Let's try it!!! Huge expectations

I was pleasantly surprised by the decor inside, they have spent a great deal for this location. I ordered chips and salsa to start. These were not complimentary but when they arrived the salsa was fresh and unique. I was glad I ordered them. My wife chose the carne asada burrito. She raved about the flavor and could only finish half. I ordered a unique taco which had an authentic name this gringo cannot remember but it was built on a house made corn tortilla about twenty inches long and ten inches wide. Steak, Mexican cream, tomatillo sauce, freshly shredded lettuce and cheese. I've never had anything like it but it is awesome. The service was quick and efficient. Very delightful people. The check had included a 15% Service Charge so I was glad to see the options on the screen to add a tip began at a level that matched up with the service charge at a reasonable level. I only had one complaint, The music was a little loud. The sound system is great and I loved the authentic music but the baseline was pumping loud enough to hurt my ears. I'd recommend adjusting the volume or the mix to make it a little more comfortable. Overall I loved this experience and will definitely want to come again. No pictures, sorry.

Smothered inside and out with their very fine green chili. The tortillas seem homemade, it was fresh and good. My wife had the carne asada burrito. I got a bite of it and the beef is delicious! Such good flavors. I also had the pinto beans and rice, both are very good. The horchata, made with almond milk, was creamy and just the right amount of cinnamon and sweet. They serve flour and corn tortilla chips with three salsas. The chips were excellent. The flour chips are deep fried, really good. The red salsa was the hottest but not bad for heat. The green was good. Now the crema sauce was my favorite, it is really excellent. Nice restaurant, comfortable chairs, nice decor that goes along with their theme. Looks like a comfortable bar. Service was friendly and accommodating. I would like to eat here again and take advantage of the FB coupon for their tacos. Highly recommended! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

The environment is bright, inviting and not too noisy. We booked a table but some of our party was late. Portions large enough that leftovers were inevitable. Quedadillas. Chile Colorado, Mole Chicken Enchiladas, and Burritos Dorados, which have Chile Colorado inside. Everyone enjoyed their meal, with one exception that one of us didn't like the Burrito Dorado (someone else enjoyed theirs, just a matter of personal taste). Their entree was replaced with another, with no fuss. I had the mole chicken, the first time I've had it here, as Chile Colorado is my favorite. The mole chicken turned out to be one of those dishes that you take the first bite and you are stunned. You look around to see if anyone is watching your reaction It was truly amazing. I like that they have options for salsa since my husband and I have different preferences for spice level. For drinks, they have a really fun margarita menu providing a variety of margaritas as well as other drinks. They do also have a bar area with sports games on TV if that's the vibe you're looking for. I ended up just getting a Diet Pepsi. They have fountain and it was actually a really good brew even tho it was Diet Pepsi!! For food, we split the fish tacos and ceviche Acapulco. The fish tacos were amazing. I really liked the cilantro cream from the salsa bar on top of these. I would go back for these for sure!! They use mahi mahi, and it is fried. Cooked to perfection!! We didn't like the ceviche as much. The sauce had Clamato in it, which I felt like took away from the lime flavoring. It wasn't my favorite since I do prefer a strong lime flavor and chopped tomatoes, but if you like Clamato then I could see this being good. Overall, things were great! Service was prompt. They brought refills for drinks and also chips. I think the chip refill cost $1 as shown on the menu. I would def recommend trying this place!

It was called Alberto's and it was a new type described to me as molcasalsa and it was great. It was always open and you got a ton of quite excellent food. I ate there for quite a while 3 or 4 times a week and was well familiar that if I got a combination plate, I would have some left over for the next day as I could never manage to finish one. This was due to all of the food you would get, lots of meat, lettuce, cheese, refrieds, rice, and usually at least a couple of giant grill-warmed tortillas. A competitor opened up not too far away, which was called Beto's and which was substandard in every way...but it was also cheaper and ushered out Alberto's, at least that one. I think there was maybe one downtown that still hung in there. This development saddened me considerably and I had to find a new haunt, but nothing could ever quite replace the glory of those early times. Anyway, years passed and I moved to a new area, relative to a place called Hector's, which was non-assuming (I drove past it repeatedly because I didn't remember it existed) and on the other side of one of the nastiest side street gutters around. The food was quite solid, more or less what I wanted from that kind of place, but my tastes had changed and I didn't make the plunge to risk ripping the undercarriage of my car out that often. Then Hector's went away. In its former place is now Beto's and, as before, I miss Hector's. Funny, that. As to the food, I got a carne asada plate, which I find is usually the safest bet for a new Mexi (to me) joint. The rice was quite good, the beans pretty dodgy, no tortillas were a part of this, at all, it was considerably more expensive than that former Alberto's platter I mentioned earlier, and the steak is again those really thin slabs that seem all the rage at this kind of place, rather than chopped into small pieces on a hot grill, so you can get all of that Maillard effect goodness. This downgraded experience is endemic in restaurants generally and it should be neither what we want nor tolerate. I get it, they're out in those mean streets just trying to survive, but if we want to have the nice stuff again and keep it around, conditions need to exist to allow that...which means slaying the various corporate and currently highly monopolistic dragons.
