The pharmacy has been serving the White Lake area for over 125 years. It is a staple to Whitehall! Pitkinz also has toiletries for any tourists that are visiting. They have clothing and candy too! My wife and I had a medical problem for which we both obtained a prescription. A 4 month regimen. In their Shelby store, the drug cost $430/month for each of us. Whew!! In their Hart store (where I lived then and where there are 2 other drug stores) the price was $35. At a drugstore across the street in Hart, the price was $39, and at another store in Hart (Pamida), the price was only $4/month. There is only 1 drugstore in Shelby, and this store is (in my opinion) ripping off the residents of Shelby. $3, 440 vs $32...... ? Are they kidding? Don't ever darken their door.

I saw one review that looked very unfair that talked about prices. Prices are driven by insurance company rates and copays. The pharmacy has very little control over the prices they can charge. To blame the store for your costs is like blaming the mailman for the cost of a postage stamp. These are very nice people and a very nice store.

A day in the life of someone who made the mistake of getting a script here:…read more Prescription was sent in at 3pm on a Wednesday (I have a killer inner ear infection in both ears and ruptured eardrums and am in unbearable pain) I went in right away at 3 and asked about it and they said "come back in an hour or so." Totally understandable. I signed up for text alerts and went home to wait. 5 hours later no text, I call them, and wait on hold for 20 minutes (which is also 100% understandable) A woman answers and asks for my name. I'm in so much pain I can barely mumble my name and she says "WHAT did you say" with so much stank in her voice I could smell it. So I spelled out my name and she said, and I quote, "Not done yet! [very audible sigh] it will be in an hour or so." This was at 8:30. They close at 10. I'm wondering why she finds my name/voice/self so repulsive, but Im still in a good mood and unaware of what's about to happen. So I asked (mumbled) "does that mean it will be done today?" and as soon as she heard me ask that she got mad, and started talking much louder, which hurt REALLY bad, and she went on this rant about how its busy and people won't stop calling and they can't work when people call and its so rude of me to ask if it will be ready today because of course it will. It will be done in an hour or so. Like they've been telling me since 3 why can't I listen? So I just said "Okay thank you" and then SHE hung up. The prescription was not ready before they closed. Turns out, it really does take more than 7 hours to fill a bottle of ear drops when you're entire staff is equality hires who can't stand up without running out of breath, and they use what little breath they do have whining and nagging everyone about everything. Turns out I got to go all night without the medicine that was prescribed at 3pm that day and I got to listen to a woman loudly complain into my ruptured eardrum about having to work at her job and boo hoo sometimes its hard and waaaah she hates listening to the problems her uselessness causes everyone else. Its just not faaaair The next day rolls around and they open at 8. Still no text. Finally, at 10am the next day, after making me wait NINETEEN HOURS for my prescription and lying to me THREE times about when it will be ready, I was finally able to pick it up. After waiting in line for an hour of course. Now, just like everyone at Walgreens, I don't know anything at all about running a pharmacy, but what I do know is that people who are sick usually want medicine, not the full girlfriend experience.
