One of their staff forgot to lock their liquor cabinet. I was shopping that day with a cart of groceries and opened the cabinet to get something. Yesterday they accused me of unlocking it somehow and made threats. They showed me ctv footage of me opening it that day, but not stealing anything so I'm really confused what they think my motive would be. I called twice because I'm no longer comfortable receiving service from Rive Aid. I asked to have them send my prescription elsewhere and she asked me to have the other pharmacy call them for the transfer. Living in San Pedro for many years, I was skeptical about this Rite Aid. On many of my casual encounters with this Rite Aid, I was always bombarded by panhandlers, religious organizations, and believe it or not, drug dealers. However, after the remodel, this Rite Aid has saved not only its Interior but it's reputation. I came here with my sister around midnight craving ice cream and did not feel the desire to drive elsewhere to get some. We arrive at Rite Aid and outside we noticed there were none of the persons described in the previous paragraph. Intrigued, we proceeded inside to noticed they have completely upgraded! The night looks for spacious and organized! With wood-like letters sized perfectly so that it can be read afar! They have new security guards who actually make the place fee safe and secure. One of the cashiers helped us get ice cream and he actually followed public health procedures for once! (In the past, employers would not wash their hands and i would have to remind that it's the law to wash hands before handling food). Anyways, I got my usual double scoop, my sister opted out and got a candy bar! Overall, it's alleviating to know that this Rite Aid has changed for the better! I give props to whoever, whether that be city municipal codes or new management for making this Rite Aid the upgrade this city needed! I recommend this to persons in San Pedro who are too lazy to leave the city and want quality scooped ice cream minus the soft serve! read more

I'm ALWAYS in here... You are not going to find "regularly" lower prices for beer, pretty much anywhere in 'Pedro. (That alone my friends, is why they get 4 stars). The place is usually filled with, or surrounded by, a cast of "characters", (myself included), and for me personally, that's part of it's, shall I say... "charm". The later it gets in the evening, the more of an adventure it becomes!!! Out front you will typically find a panhandler or two, a Salvation Army worker, a stenchy, aromatic, toothless, drunkard... or some other, absurdly bizarre, entertaining, personality. I worked at this location years ago when it was a "Market Basket" grocery store, (okay, I'm dating myself). So while some say it's in a "sketchy" area, that $hit don't bother me. The remodel helped a lot. The store is much nicer now and has plenty of great stuff. Unfortunately the pharmacy part kills it. It's understaffed and the lab techs working the counter spend an ungodly amount of time just staring at the computer monitor. I can't image what they could be looking at for so long. As a kid I grew up eating ice cream from Thrifty. Back in the day this used to be one. They all eventually closed but this location was one of the last ones .It later was bought by Riteaid and they kept the ice cream bar they have. Ice cream is good and it's still being served out of square scoopers which makes it extra cool. Customer service varies. It might take a while to get some one to come help at the ice cream bar but once they are there it's pretty smooth. read more

Great that it is open 24 hours. However the customer service was so bad. I came in just to grab a pair of cheap flip flops. Get to the register and the cashier, very rudely, pointed out there was no price tag. She was practically yelling at me to grab another pair from the sales bin I grabbed them from. She could've said it once but no, chose to borderline berate me about it. So I go back grab a pair and wait back in line. Get back to the same cashier. Instead of scanning the price tag, points out the pair I got were slightly different from the ones I picked out and made me go back to find a pair in the bin that were exact. The only difference was the color of the stripes, really? Waited in line again for the THIRD time. I get a different cashier who was nicer, but not having their loyalty card became an issue. I don't shop their really, I just went in because it was convenient. So he calls a manager to authorize my purchase without their optional card. I appreciate the small discount, but I was willing to pay the $4.99 plus tax just for the cheap flip flops. I had to wait in line three times over a pair of $4.99 flip flops, where one of the cashiers practically berated me over bringing a pair that were missing a price tag. B) Rite Aid, along with Walgreen's and CVS are my favorite places for the lower end drugstore make up. C) I can never walk into a Rite-Aid without getting a least a handful of make-up items. and D) I'm a die hard fan of the 24hours stores (nothing beats a 2am make-up shopping spree!!) B) It's very clean and nicely organized which when it comes to make-up is very important specially when you're looking for popular and hard to find items, cause the last thing I want is to search rows and isles for a single item which may or may not be stock. I just wanted to share the horrible experience received this morning from your San Pedro location, store number: 05513. From my understanding when walking into place of business, you should always be greeted as a customer and I was not. When I walked in, the cashier at the register looked dead at me and didn't open her mouth. I gathered my items and went to the register to check out and she STILL didn't speak nor did the security guard at the entrance say anything! Is this the way the employees at this location operate? The only thing the cashier asked me was if I had a rewards card and that's it. As a customer we should ALWAYS be greeted, I'm coming to your place of business spending my money and the LEAST your employees could do is GREET THEIR CUSTOMERS!! This isn't the first time this has happened here, it's like pulling teeth for employees to acknowledge your there! This location won't be getting my money ANYMORE because I definitely won't be revisiting this location again! This is one of my least favorite places in the world. It's a complete cesspool, inside and out. The clientele are horrible--some of the most ghetto dregs of society San Pedro has to offer. And the people who work here are apathetic and just about as ghetto as the clientele. I have seen several arguments between customers and employees--and I have never seen a manager step in to de-escalate the situation. I think this is a testament to how this place is run. Getting a prescription filled here is not a simple errand. It is--without fail--an infuriating and painfully long ordeal. One that surely makes me stupider every time and inevitably makes me want to stab myself in the face The convenient location off the 110fwy and lure of Thrifty-brand ice cream are not enough to make me want to go back... UPDATE: pharmacy is still awful. They need to do away the phone refill system as they never have my prescription ready after I phone in my order. Their response is, you can call in to make sure it's ready before you come in. If I make an order that will be ready after 2 the next day, then it should be ready after 2 and I should not have to call to check on its status, or get to the counter and it not be ready. The Arrival: Parking - Sometimes good - sometimes bad. I have never not found parking - but it can be challenging. And, no Mr. Homeless man, please do not wash my clean windows - and please stop following me in the store asking for my money. The Entrance: First thing I notice (and every time I go here) at least 3 - 10 people waiting in line. One or two cashiers maximum - or just one if someone wants an Ice Creme cone. There is a "security" guard at the front entrance - usually says hi - they are nice enough. The store generally is clean and well stocked. I am sure they sell more beer than anything else - as they have a large cooler section, and cases upon cases of beer stacked up all over - with usually some pretty good sales!!! If you need help - its sparse to non existant. You can walk around the store for 5 minutes looking for assistance. Guess that is the result of the recession, and their staff being cut back? There is usually a manager - somewhere... But rarely do they help out when its really busy. The cashiers are really friendly, and nice about 80% of the time. But, I can totally understand them being in a not so great mood with such long lines and people complaining about the wait... I say, try to be patient and don't take it out on them - they do not have control of that situation. Pricing is pretty average for a store of this type. Its close, so I go when I need to. I endure the line - but I am expecting a line. Watch out for all the beggars outside - and you should be ok. read more

Horrible service. I waited in line for the ice cream and there was only one cashier. More people kept coming into the regular line and the cashier kept checking them out even though I had been waiting at the ice cream section for about 5 minutes already. Then the cashier says he'll be over " in a minute" but as more costumers come in line he doesn't come. After about another 3 minutes he calls over the radio for another employee to come to the ice cream section. Then a couple more minutes pass before another employee comes without so much of a "sorry" or "thank you for waiting". All in all the store manager needs to put low employees on the schedule because I notice after going there every once in a while, they always seem to be under staffed. Worst Managed location! Longest lines! Dirtiest bathrooms! I have been a rite aid costumer for many many years and I normally would not write reviews on drugstores but I really need someone to take a look at this location and do something about it. The lines are very long every time I have been there, there is only 2 cashiers and the wait times exceed 15-20 mins to purchase anything. I am just back from having waited in line with other dissatisfied customers for about 20 minutes. When I spoke to the employees about it always being this way, they confirmed that there is never enough people scheduled to help and they know and this is normal for them. when they repeatedly call for a 3rd checker nobody shows up. the manager is nowhere to be seen. The bathroom is locked, when asked to be let in, I had to wait around for 15 mins and nobody let me in. finally after complaining and asking to be let in repeatedly, I saw the most unsanitary of conditions in there. no toilet paper (at a drugstore mind you) wet paper and urine covering the floor, dirty sinks and stained mirrors. All of these are things that I would never expect from a rite aid store. I'm thinking if you're in the area, CVS across the street is a much better option. read more

They have their security staying at the front I guess to make sure everyone is wearing a mask. I had my mask on, my sisters did too. I have my service dog with me, not wearing a vest because we walked over there and she doesn't need one. I would like to point out that SERVICE DOGS DO NOT NEED TO WEAR A VEST. OWNERS PREFER TO AVOID CONFUSION. THERE IS NO RIGHT TO REFUSE A SERVICE DOG. He immediately stopped me and said "you can't bring the dog in". I informed him that she is a service dog. He got really close to me and argued that because she isn't wearing a vest she can't come in. Of course I informed him that she doesn't need one. It was close to closing, we just stopped to buy one thing and leave. He kept getting loud and asking "you can't come in here so what're you gonna do? what're you gonna do?". My sister asked if I had her ID card and he's like "yeah, you have that? See, you have no proof". As soon as I pulled out my phone to show him, which is actually illegal for him to ask me to identify the dog, he said "well she isn't wearing a vest so you can't come in anyway". Your employees are arrogant, attempting to be intimidating to three small girls, and uneducated. He was rude and broke so many laws doing this. After he asked for the 50th time, my sisters were frustrated with his bs and they just went in. He stepped even closer and said "you wait outside", and locked the door when there were people behind us waiting to come in, but couldn't because of him being absolutely stupid. Dogs don't even have to be REGISTERED. Online registrations and all that are scams. The point of a service dog is to be trained for your medical needs. This "man" is absolutely ridiculous and I hope he becomes educated and faces penalties. Once he realized I was getting my phone for proof he attempted his intimidation more and knew I was right.
