*****. much improved appearance, in dollar general, milford. and five star cashier last week…read more as about everyone in the local area says, this store looked like a dump with more merchandise blocking the aisles and messy than there is on the shelves for a long time. how in the world with normally only one person on a shift are they able to cashier, stock shelves and even keep the floors swept? how can good hard working conscientious people not burn out and leave? free tip. when you do have a good employee, treat them as valuable, and do whatever it takes to keep them long term. it is far cheaper to retain good employees than to lose them and go thru the never ending process of looking for, hiring and training people that detract from rather than add to the growth of your business. crybabies can complain about covid, nobody wants to work, and all that bs. there are still plenty of good hard working reliable people all around, and they will gravitate from the dead-end businesses to the ones that prosper. right in this area their are many restaurants and all kinds of businesses that value and treat their employees like very important pepole. if you notice when you go by they are busy and others are starving, if you go in you're very likely to get five star service and be satisfied, and most importantly return and even tell your friends. take the challenge and see for yourself why some businesses are really prospering while others are constantly looking for, hiring and losing their help.

This place scares me deeply…read more Once you run the gauntlet past the toothless cashiers on their break, the clouds of cigarette smoke and cheap perfume, and the impeding sadness that you are actually entering this establishment, you are greeted with the smell of despair, desolation and chemicals. This is the odor of Family Dollar. Family Dollar is a place where products go to die. Do you really need a plastic fountain in the shape of a German house? Do you really need a cheap-ass CD player that was made in Bangladesh? Do you really need candy that was discontinued at Wal-Mart and has an expiration date of two monthss ago? My answer is a resounding, "NO!" The sign outside proudly proclaims that you can get milk here now. What freakish cow did this milk come from? How sad that the cow worked so hard to produce milk that ends up in this pit of hell. I feel sorry for that cow. Poor cow. Avoid it at all costs, before it sucks you into the fold and you become one with the machine...

Similar to Trader Joes, Aldis sells their own brand of merchandise. They do, however, sell some brand name things like candy for Halloween. You need a quarter in order to release the cart to shop. It's a great idea and way to get people to return the carts to the front of the store. What's also interesting about this chain of markets is that their cashiers sit down in a chair when ringing you up. They also sell pet supplies like litter, snacks, beds, and food. The only con to the store are their hours. On Sundays, they close early at 8.

The Southside bus does stop right in front of Dollar Tree. I was surprised to see some name brand products there. The seasonal decoration section is always great. There are Christmas items out and it is still September. I love stores that have items out months ahead of time! Service here is not the best. The cashiers did work as a team to clean up a spill as soon as possible, but our cashier did not have the nicest service manner.
