More than once, she has called me to advise me about certain mixes of medication. The shop is always ready to call my doctor to renew a prescription. I get all my shots there and they are administered competently and painlessly. I have observed their patience and empathy serving an elderly and somewhat confused patient. Of course, behind them is our dysfunctional medical system, so it's expected that they could have a bad day. Anyway, I am a decades-long satisfied customer.

When I went there just now to pick up meds for my son, I arrived to see a sign that the pharmacy was closed. It wasn't even 3:00 PM yet. When I asked, I was told they were having troubled keeping a pharmacist on duty. I don't know what's behind that statement, but that's either hiring unreliable pharmacists or mismanaging people to the point they walk off the job.

Now they are trying to push through a blood pressure cuff that I said I didn't want. ridiculous. last time i ever come here EVER. EVER. don't waste your time. Go to a pharmacy that cares about your time as much as anyone. I won't be treated like a bad guy because they are incompetent and women aren't allowed to have a voice in there. This has happened before where I have waited and waited for something that should have been done when i got there!

They did not tell me I could go to any other Walgreens (or other pharmacy chains) in Newark and get it free. Instead they insisted over and over that it was $794 (after my insurance covered $1,000 of it), which I paid. I will not be going here again.

I walked by a bunch of times before realizing that it was even open, because the outside looks like it might be abandoned. (There are many closed shops on nearby side streets, so it was a distinct possibility.) You can find all the essentials here, from beauty to bandaids and snack foods. The store is clean and not empty but sort of low on stock. Basically, nothing remarkable. If you are in this part of the city and need something in a pinch, Walgreens might be your only option.
