There weren't that many steps, but the steps that I did have, they walked me through. My rate was better than all of my friends at the time, so I was very happy. However, the reason I'm writing the review is because of the service my brother got. Basically, when it was his time to buy a house, Northwood worked magic and got around the 9 month probationary period that the TTC imposes. It would have been a huge bummer if we couldn't get my brother a mortgage based on that technicality, but they got it done. I highly recommend Allan.

Extremely high rates but understandable as paying off a debt consolidation but the fees are very…read moreexpensive including a payout to the debt consultant and when paying out the 2nd mortgage 3 months early - huge fees much greater than the 3 month penalty. Then the 2nd mortgage proceeded to deposit the Oct. cheque after the home was sold and the 2nd mortgage paid out!!! Very disappointing and unprofessional - now I must stop payment going forward !

(FYI - many banks train their staff on the front line in these positions and give incentives to their employees on all the products - meaning many are still fresh and learning - while helping you with one of your biggest life decisions) We took a half hour to sit down with Rakhi before we bought our first home and it was the best 30 minutes we could have invested in our future. Rakhi explained everything to us in layman's terms - helped us understand why getting the lowest rate may not always be the best option and how to avoid large penalties if you decide to move early. We've since sold our first home and bought another one with Rakhi. I've also referred my father to Rakhi (which he also used her services). Whenever I hear my friends mention they are going to a big bank to get their mortgage I have to laugh (and it's always followed up with me giving out Rakhi's info). After all - if I didn't at the very least share Rakhi's info I'd be doing my friends and loved ones a BIG disservice. Rakhi is going to get you a mortgage through one of the banks - it's just that she's in your corner and actually wants to ensure you're happy with the product and is actually available at pretty much any hour to text/call. Rakhi allowed us to feel confident about buying and making the right decision for our family of four. Cons: (1) got me highest rate (5.14% for 5 years) in May this year that too he initially mentioned I was approved for 4.89% so I didn't shop around for better rates.. later when I actually making application after a month he said it is 5.14% not 4.89%.. argued he don't remember... clearly trust issues. (2) If I make prepayment I had to pay based on 6.34% interest rate, this was never discussed.. found out before closing.. when I approached Alex he said "what do you want me to do now? There will be 100 rules against your mortgage and that is not my responsibility to tell you " - really pathetic response.. (3) he intentionally put $50 utilities bill in my mortgage application which lowered my affordability .. actually my condo fees covers all utilities. Since I'm a FTHB, I was exploited and I feel my bad myself. Don't go with Alex/clear rust and suffer like me that is the only motto for writing this review.
