If you are in the market for a Mortgage, talk to True North before you make a decision. My wife and I were looking to upgrade from our 3 bedroom Condo to a house this summer (2020). Due to the pandemic, we were going to be working from home for longer than we anticipated, so wanted more space. I contacted them when one of my friends suggested I should talk to them. I started by filling up an online application to which David Kim responded the same day. I didn't imagine, how smooth and easy the process would be that day. David walked me through the process and started my pre-approval process right away. I had a pre-approval from one of the big banks already so we were looking at properties already. As the pre-approval was in process, we found our home and put down an offer. David was super quick to turn our pre-approval into a mortgage and was able to get the conditional mortgage approved within days, much faster than the big bank. We were able to secure our offer thanks to David's efficiency. All the processing was through phone calls and docu-sign, so it was both effortless and saved a lot of time. This was especially amazing, given we were doing this during the pandemic. Before we confirmed the offer, we made changes to our down-payment and mortgage amount, to keep our liquidity high, which David was most comfortable to accommodate. The closing process was so effortless. We were selling our condo and needed a bridge loan, which was arranged for without any hassle. David was in touch constantly providing information on progress so we were never in the dark about anything. The week we had our closing, our lawyer called to tell us True North had sent him the payment instructions 2 days ahead of the closing date. The experience was awesome but how peaceful it was to deal with them makes us recommend them to anyone who is in the market for a mortgage. They had better rates than most big banks and other independent mortgage brokers and were even able to customize the product on the fly. Dashna has been a life-saver throughout our mortgage process. After a bank error jeopardizing our financing (and therefore our home purchase) by TD Bank only 7 business days before our contract was set to close, we reached out to Dashna for help. They are not forthcoming, they will lead you on to believe something and then ask for more information. They only deal with one lender Think Financial which was founded in 2016 so not much confidence there. Even if you filed for Bankruptcy over 13 years ago and have been discharged, redeemed yourself, they will ask you for documents regarding your bankruptcy that are destroyed after 10 years...so if this is your predicament do not even bother with them. No matter what you have saved, assets etc. they will not be pre-approve you, they will say send us the accepted offer and we will see what else we need you to get for us. So in other words, we can make you and your realtor look like fools if we feel like it. I spent 3 months jumping hoops and getting every single thing they asked for and then told that I need to obtain something that does not exist! Do not do it! read more

I can't say enough good things about dealing with Robert Dang and True North Mortgage. Robert was super kind, helpful and extremely fast at answering our emails and phone calls - even during "non-business" hours. We were super nervous to go with a broker instead of a bank to hold our mortgage. We had never used one before, but the super low rate True North was offering us was beyond question.
