For 20-some years I've eaten at Ristorante Shanghai and I don't know if the menu or prices have ever changed. Chinese food in Italy, for whatever reason, includes carrots and zucchini as a part of numerous dishes that don't resemble regional Chinese cuisine or American-Chinese cuisine. Asian cooks in Italy and elsewhere have adapted their menus to the adopted country. I don't know where the owners of Ristorante Shanghai are from, but I would recommend the Alghe Fritti (fried seaweed), Tao Fu Alla Griglia (grilled tofu) or any of the dumpling or noodle dishes. (This last time we went was the night before The Palio and they did not have the staff to handle that sort of crowd.) If you are short on dough, this is the best spot in Siena to have a restaurant meal. read more
