I went here as part of my tour with my tour group. Best dinner I had in Italy, hands down. The ristorante is at the top of a steep hill but it was completely worth the trip up and then back down. The town of Spello itself is enchanting and I would love to return. The flavors in every dish I had at this restaurant would make it well worth the effort. Our starter was bruschetta with tomatoes and olive oil. It was good but not great, which made me nervous for the rest of the meal. We then got the next course and it blew my mind away. Pasta with an orange and cream sauce - sound different and weird? That would be because it was and I love whoever invented it. It is apparently a secret recipe passed down through the generations of chefs who have owned this restaurant. And oh my God, it was so Delicious. Best pasta I have ever had, period. Next was a baked chicken dish that paled in comparison to the pasta (I wish that had been the main dish instead) but was still tasty. Lastly, the dessert again blew my mind - chocolate lava cake with a side of gelato. Not a rare combination but executed so powerfully that I'm still salivating at the thought of it. All in all, it was an amazing experience (there was plenty of Umbrian wine) and the staff and service were excellent. Definitely recommend! read more

Tiny town with this world class restaurant. Ate dinner there in 2011 with a tour group and never forgot the meal and the best tiramisu I've ever had. Traveling solo in 2015 it was nice to return for lunch. Odd sounding pasta dish with pureed peas and ricotta, but it was excellent. They are innovative so I suspect menu changes often except for basic meat dishes. I noticed many Italian patrons ordered lamb. Waitress and waiter both pleasant and attentive. Ordered a glass of wine and had the whole bottle; thinking waiter thought I wanted a bottle I thought I'd have to pay for the bottle. But no, he not only did not charge for even a glass, he brought me biscotti for dessert dipping, also gratis! I believe his generosity is due to the Italian appreciation of one who shows they love being and sharing with them; this was more than a meal. (Cost unbelievably only 22€ ). Lovely old olive mill converted to restaurant in 1965. Beautiful gift shop across the street. read more

I would give a hardy second to the review of 2/11/17. Also my best meal in Italy. I also sampled the veg entrees in our group and the were also excellent. The Orange sauce is certainly the highlight and veggie friendly. read more

Very delicious meal. All courses were a special treat. The bruschetta was very good. Try the citrus pasta, a light and refreshing flavor. The tomato sauce pasta is also very different from what you would have in the states. Pistachio crusted chicken was a delight and to top off the evening the lava cake was to die for. The local rosso and bianco wines were very good and I would recommend them with the appetizer or pasta. Try them out, they even have a Michelin award. read more
