Bait and Switch! We were hosting a highly important milestone celebration 75th birthday party for my mother, who is not in stable health - a "this is your life" celebration with all her closest family and cousins from around the country. We personally paid for relatives to fly from Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle, and had limo drivers drive others from Brisbane. Everyone was driven to the restaurant in limos. We reserved seats for 18 people at Fellinis' three weeks in advance, and were promised and assured we would have great views by the window. We called on 6 different occasions to confirm we would have great seating with front window views, including earlier in the day. We had everyone arrive on time (6pm) in limousines and were escorted to our seats ... to the very far back room with NO VIEW. When we protested about the extremely crappy location with no view, George the manager glibly told us he was too busy with other guests and could not accommodate us with view seats. We were hostage - it was too late to go anywhere else with a party that size, and many were in poor health and not very mobile to walk long distances. Put simply, he stuffed us in the back because he knew we had no choice, then he sold all the premium window seats to walk-ins. Food was fair but not amazing but cost us thousands of dollars for a meal that had conspicuously poor seating - jarringly in contradiction to the magnitude of the event. Irreplaceable lost opportunity for what should have been a most premium meal and location / seating as it is likely that several of the family members may pass soon and not get the opportunity to meet again like this.
Interaction with Management was utterly unacceptable and despicable! Intentionally screwed us. I was so wretchedly disgusted by this treachery of the manager George that I will never go to Fellini's again. If I wanted a non-view and better food I would have gone to Gimellis restaurant, which is actually my mothers favorite. We only chose Fellinis because of the view to really accentuate the importance of this momentous life event.
You deserve better than Fellinis. View is first rate (if they don't scam you), food is second rate compared to better options on the Gold Coast, and management is bottom of the barrel. read more
