We were given a lovely patio table overlooking some rolling hills a beyond picturesque view of the Italian countryside. To start, we shared the smoked salmon carpaccio (served on a bed of lettuce with with balsamic vinegar and grana). I never expected the smoked salmon to be so good in Italy. I just don't tie the two together in my mind! Honestly though, everywhere we ate salmon it was perfect. Recommended. For my main I IMMENSELY enjoyed the stewed duck with lentils. Think cassoulet-style duck, cooked bone-in, in a thick savory lentil broth. It was made even tastier with the addition of the rosemary roasted-potatoes the server recommended as the side. What a comforting and oh-so-filling dish! I could maybe eat this for every meal for the rest of my life. Maybe. Bottom line, only in Italy can you just be so lucky as to stumble into a Michelin-starred restaurant with views like these. We were super fortunate and so pleasantly surprised!
