I visited The Rising Sun in West Bagborough recently for a family meal. We have eaten at this restaurant before and been very impressed with the food and the service. However, on this occasion I was very disappointed. I ordered Lemon Sole and Crayfish tails served with vegetables and saute potatoes, one of the more expensive dishes on the menu at £18.95. I therefore, expected the dish to be of a high standard.
When the dish arrived I eagerly tried the Crayfish tails as I usually really love them, to find they were rubbery, asthough they were over-cooked and tasted very fishy, asthough they were not fresh. I made a complaint about them to a waiter and asked for the dish to be discounted as I was happy to eat the rest of the dish and not the crayfish. The manager then returned to take a sample to the chef and the chef then marched out of the kitchen and proceeded to lean over our table, quite menacingly and tell me I was wrong and there was nothing wrong with the crayfish. The way in which the situation was dealt was unpleasant and I felt quite intimidated by the chef. I came away feeling quite sad and frustrated that my views had been so diregarded, so I decided to write this review. I will not be returning to eat there again! read more
