I came across a Facebook post advertising $20 piercings- what a great deal and jewelry is included! I reached out for more information and was assured that the person doing the piercings is former paramedic and that someone would be overseeing his work. My friend and I decided to check it out. I got my fourth piercing on my left ear, and she got her helix done. The experience was great, they were professional, CLEAN, and gentle through the entire process. Hank walked us through the process, and Phil oversaw the placement of the piercing and the piercer. I went back recently with a coworker- she got three piercings (her nose and a third earring on both ears), and I got my fourth again but on the right this time. This time, Ashley took care of us, and I absolutely loved her! (She works on Thursdays) Also, works full time in a hospital with needles, so she's clearly experienced. I was unsure if I wanted more than one, and there no pressure at all. She made us feel super comfortable. Both times I've visited, I've had the pleasure of meeting Erica, who is currently training to become a piercer and tattoo artist. She is so sweet, and I can't wait to come back and try her once she's ready! Got a tattoo in 2024, wasnt ever going to say anything and just live with it but its crazy how messed up my tattoo was. Was so excited for how it looked when i walked out. Months later, i started to notice scarring all over the tattoo. Reached out to artist. Said it dont look too bad i should increase moisture. As if i already dont wear lotion on the daily lol and uncented as i was told so i adapted to that lotion. Months later i dont hear back anymore. Tattoo looks horrible. Will forever refer everyone i know to go anywhere but here. Really thought it was going to create a good relationship and get the rest of my stuff here but never GIn. read more

Took almost three hours just to get a tattoo done. I arrived at 12 for my appointment and my tattoo artist wasn't even there yet. Kelsey got there at 12:30 and once she was there, it took her an hour to stencil my tattoo. And my tattoo is a small size, which honestly shouldn't take an hour to just draw. Finally once we got to the back, she put the stencil on me and then said she had to go to the back to grab supplies. Which she took half an hour to do. My tattoo probably didnt take more than 35 minutes to tattoo. It's insane she was late and dragged the appointment on purpose too. I've been to walk ins that take only an hour to just get a tattoo done and she had me there almost the whole afternoon just waiting. Don't come here cause they have a lack of respect for your time. read more

Not a particular bad place but, I just want to add some caution to people who are getting tattoo here. On the waiver disclosure, there is a particular clause saying you are signing all of your rights to the art being placed on YOUR body, to this company. To me, this isn't mathing. I just wouldn't give anyone else full and absolute rights to anything on my body. When I asked if me not checking that box on the waiver is going to be an issue, the artist got very short with me and copped an attitude saying he wouldn't be able to have that tattoo in his portfolio. I replied he could! I have no issue with that but to give you exclusive and all rights to what's on MY body is bananas! So because of this, and his dismissive attitude was enough for me to walk out. That being said, I have no issues to using artwork on my body to be in a portfolio, however, I will have rights to it because it's ON MY BODY! lol that is so wild that tattoos have gotten to this.. I had high hopes for this place because of the reviews but maybe it just wasn't our day. Walk ins are welcomed as it stated on the front of the building. Which was understood by us, we paid a deposit of $60, sent the photos through airdrop so whoever was doing our tattoo knew exactly what we wanted (which was simple and small) & told us they were able to take us at 5:30. First we did the ear piercing. The ear piercer did an amazing job hence why I gave a 3 stars, he was great and gave clear instruction for during/after care. Very good with his piercings quick and easy.. piercings would go back to. After that we left to come back at 5:30, we arrived and waited.. and waited.. and a man asked if we were waiting and said he will be right with us and went outside. (At the time we didn't know his name) but when we went into the booth it stated "Scotty" Now my problem is, when a time is given to me it should be respected. Granted it was a walk in, BUT we were also given a time. So, he asked what we were getting.. which he should have known IF the photos were sent to him which I sent to another guy at the time of the deposit. He stated he had it but it was no where in his photos... hm so I airdropped it, fine. He fixed the flowers and started the stencil. Now, I shall say I don't mind when other people are in the room handling our tattoo items but they should also be wearing gloves as well.. unsure of who the lady was with Scotty... conversations were long and we just wanted to get in and get out. She also cut our stencils without gloves.. granted she's not touching us but I'm a stickler for cross contamination and cleanliness. When he finished he also tried shooting his gloves in the trash and missed. It's a cute tattoo but his lines weren't clean...(maybe it's because there was so many distractions) but for .... $130 for a little flower.. I don't think it was worth it. I got three finger tattoos (which I know don't last long) not even 2 weeks ago he half did my heart tattoos & I got my grandmothers name & you can tell he didn't go deep enough the lines are inconsistent AF and so light it's literally no ink on the side of my heart and my grandmas name is so light it looks like it's fading away even though it's been 1.5 week.THEN I went back yesterday to tell him my concerns about the tattoo and he said it's because they're "finger tats" and his friend Started laughing at me but can tell my tattoo was fucked up. He also makes sure that you are feeling comfortable and gives you plenty of breaks if need be. My disclaimer is that I don't have any tattoos or piercings myself. That said, I accompanied my husband to Rising Phoenix last weekend in order to support his next tattoo, an original drawing that he sketched and wanted carved out on his forearm. My takeaway is that when you get a tattoo, you want 1. A clean place, 2. For your artist to know what the heck they're doing and 3. Attitude. Not the kind of attitude that makes me want to punch you, but enough to know that I know you're an artist and you're taking the permanent-ness of the situation seriously. Rising Phoenix meets all three of the above in spades. The place smelled sterile and the spray bottles were constantly in use. I appreciated that both of the tattoo artists spent time consulting with each other and my husband before agreeing on the final draft. And I like that while there was attitude it was never with the customer. I give props to Chris for the super straight lines on my man's arm which I know is hard to do. I was also amused by the soda machine. We put in a buck for a can and.... nothing. We told Chris about it and all he said was "Give it a minute. It'll come out." Five minutes later, it randomly spit out my diet coke. Brilliant! I normally don't accompany my husband when he's getting inked but I'm glad I did this time. This was leaps and bounds from being acceptable. I then had to re-schedule an appointment just to get the pair of tattoos re-worked. And to make the situation even more ridiculous, the re-touches had an inferior level of detail compared to the originals. Generally, when you pay for a job to be done, you expect it to be done right the first time. You pay money, and then, in return, you receive a service. Unless I'm missing something, the last time I checked, that's the way it works. There is no traditional tattoo artists really in this area, so I did not think I would find anyone and have to go to the city. happy I went here. Brents tattoo was exactly how I wanted it. I came in with a loose design and Chaq put all the pieces together and even managed to cover up a tattoo I got 30 years ago. The final result is fantastic and the detail is phenomenal! He understood what I was looking for, which is difficult enough to do because I am not an artist by any means and he even managed to include even the smallest details that I wanted and felt were important to the design. I would highly recommend Rising Phoenix and Chaq. As far as some of the other reviews that have criticized the shop for their service, you have to understand what getting a tattoo means and how a shop works. Getting a tattoo is not a 15-minute session and artists can't just stop what they're doing to tend to the service counter. Don't expect to walk in and get a complex design or a large piece in an hour or two. And, have a design in mind. Don't ask for a heart tattoo without an idea of the way it should look. There are hundreds, if not thousands of heart tattoos. I have to admit that the playlist playing in the background is rather puzzling. Everything from Megadeath to Patsy Cline. Horrible shop. Will never go back. Overpriced and inexperienced. Went in for this simple guitar line work. Within 2 weeks of getting tattooed I noticed it wasn't healing well. The thick line part could never get a good scab on it. I went in due to concern of infection. The actual artist that did my tattoo was in and he couldn't even give me an answer he had to get someone else to look at it. That was the first red flag. Second I told them I was concerned it was infected and it was hurting and I thought I needed to go to urgent care. The second I said that they acted like I had 3 heads. That was the second red flag. They told me no need to urgent care and they wouldn't do anything for it anyway. This tattoo was done in October and this is how it looks. It took me this long to write a review about it bc I didn't realize how bad it was until I went to another artist to get it fixed. He told me the artist had cut my skin up and went so deep that it was now a scar. After 6 months a new artist fixing In I'm finally comfortable showing it off. Getting a tattoo or a piercing is pretty serious business. Go to the wrong place and you'll be like the person in that Offspring song "...he asked for a 13 but they drew a 31!" Luckily, the guys and gals at Rising Phoenix know what the heck they're doing, and are damn good at it. First time my bf and I came here was to get piercings. He was getting a conch and I was getting a rook. They were pretty busy as it was a Friday night so we had to wait a little bit. The guy who pierced us was really awesome. I was nervous about mine, but he talked through the whole thing, not like soothing things, but just like "yeah this is a cool piercing, this is gonna be great, etc" so I was focused on what he was saying rather than what was going on. It didn't hurt as bad as I was expecting, but the pain does stick with you for a while. My bf's hurt a bit more than mine since there's more cartilage involved with that one. The piercer was actually concerned for him because he looked a bit flushed, so he gave him some candy and water and made him sit down for a while. They may look like tough guys, but they still look out for you. The piercings were about $50 each.Pretty typical. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. I had been wanting to get a tattoo for a while now. Nothing crazy. Just a simple drawing from a book I like. I went in on a Wednesday night and it was surprisingly busy. My bf and I talked to Jimmy and another guy about what we both wanted to do. Even though we were busy, we were able to make appointments to do them and they talked a bit about how it could all be done. I came in that Saturday and it was basically empty. Jimmy drew the outline on my leg so I could check out the placement and worked with me to get it exactly where I wanted. Then he went to work. He also talked to my bf more about what he wanted, since they didn't get much of a chance to discuss the details when it was really busy. Finally my tattoo was done and it looked great. He gave me care instructions and I was on my way. We came back the next week so my bf could see the sketch Jimmy came up with. It was amazing. Even though my bf had an idea of what he wanted, Jimmy ran with it and came up with something neither of us could have imagined. They scheduled an appointment for when they would do each session. I can't wait to see how that will turn out. Tips: come with cash because the credit card machine was down when we came....just to be on the safe side. Bring your ID. Even if you're of age, you can't be in there if your age can't be verified. If you can, go during the day, even a weekend day. Not as many people and you can have a good discussion. Oh and don't judge this place by the outside, which looks like nothing. This is a great establishment and everyone is really good at what they do (just check out all of their awards and work). My mom and I had an outing here to get tattoos. We wanted to have ours done at the same time, so they suggested we make an appointment. Our appointment was for 12:30p and we had to pre-pay $60 to hold the appointment time. That deposit is non-refundable. My mom got there first about 12:15 and I got there 12:30 exactly and the person that was supposed to do my tattoo wasn't there yet. Beto Munoz started on my mom's tattoo and it was a little after 1 and still my guy has not shown up. So Beto did my tattoo as well. We were both very pleased with Beto's demeanor and attitude and would definitely use him again. We were both told $70 each and then my mom said she was quoted $60 when she made the appointment so we were both charged $60 which I think was high for the size of our tattoos. If you pay by credit card, they charge you a $3 fee. All in all, we would go back here. Make sure to make an appointment as a lot of people came in while we were there and had to come back later since there were no tattoo artists available. Stopped in on NYE so that my fiancé could get my name tatted on his future ring finger. We got to the place around 5ish when they closed at 8pm. When we arrived, there were 2 tattoo artists and they both were working on clients. Dave was working on a large back tattoo, so Rosana helped us. She said for a name on the finger it was $60. Which was high, but I just wanted to get the tattoo done on my fiancé. Well we had to run to the chase ATM because their credit card machine was down. But overall I think that Rosana was in a hurry. She wrote out my name in her handwriting.... It looked terrible. She didn't even try to match the font I wanted. It was as if she wanted us to be done and out as more people had come in. I asked if she had a computer & more fonts, she gave us a font book but the fonts were ugly and generic. We ended up having me write my name for his tattoo, which turned out better. The actual tattooing only took a minute. Overall not really pleased with the service, felt rushed and hurried, and as if she was trying to do a sloppy job just to get it done. Well its been 3 months and I called the shop to see when my fiance's tattoo could get touched up since it was completely faded. The shop owner let me know that Rosana no longer worked there and that he would still do a free touch up for my fiance. Only for that reason am I giving them 3 stars. read more

TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! The Rising Phoenix Tattoo shop is a completely hostile and unprofessional environment. I walked in on a Friday evening and there were 4 workers sitting on their chairs watching the Office on Netflix. There were no customers, and I was a potential for both tattoos and piercings (sounds like money to me). I was there with my mother and we asked the piercing specialist some questions about the front triple helix. He was repeatedly rude and blunt with his responses, as if I was intruding on his personal time. My questions were not out of the ordinary. I asked about price and procedure. His attitude discouraged me from getting the piercing, so I proceeded to ask about getting a small tattoo for me and my mother. He informed me, rudely and abruptly, that he can't answer any of my questions and I have to ask one of the other workers sitting there. I then asked which one and he said, "There's two of them, you can pick". It is bad practice to undermine your customers. I understand his restriction with answering questions outside of his field, but a good salesman would have introduced me to an artist or called one of them over. Furthermore, he could have been nice about it. The three men that were sitting there, doing nothing, should have taken the initiative at a potential client and answered my question as well. However, they all remained silent and I walked out with nothing but a bad taste in my mouth. The service was terrible and I would not trust any of them in there with a piercing or tattoo. read more

Last night, I went to get my very first tattoos at Rising Phoenix. I was SO scared, but it's something I had wanted to do for a few years now. When I walked in, someone (who I believe was the shop assistant) greeted me, asked me what I wanted, had me look through a font book, etc. He was really nice and wanted to know all of the details of my tattoos so he could do the sketch. There was a group of women that wanted small tattoos in front of me, and a guy that wanted a small tattoo also, so he told me to either stay and hang out or leave a $40 deposit and come back in an hour. I left and came back. The font that I had found online wasn't in their font book, so he drew one up as close as he could get. He did a great job. When I came back, I filled out a piece of paper, and he put the stencils on me. I was getting two tattoos of my daughters' names. "Nevaeh" on one wrist, and "Alexis" on the other. I had been wearing a hair band on my wrist all day, and didn't even think about the fact that it would leave an indent. He helped massage the indent out of my wrist for a minute and then had me do it, until it went down. He kept reassuring me that it wouldn't hurt as bad as I thought, and I'll laugh later because I worked myself up over nothing. He also mentioned that I gave birth to two kids and if I could do that, I could do this. I laughed at that one. :) He was super reassuring and he really calmed my nerves. After that, I sat in the actual tattoo chair. Chris a.k.a. "Big Daddy" was doing my tattoo. He showed me photos of his (adorable) daughter and also said that I would be fine. I was really shaky but he held my arm down hard so he could do the tattoo and it turned out great. It was kind of painful in certain areas but he gave me a lot of breaks which was really nice. He was cracking jokes and making me laugh while he was doing it. My tattoos turned out REALLY nice, they were exactly what I wanted. I was very impressed with his work. I know they were simple tattoos, but they mean a lot to me and I am so happy that I decided to go to Rising Phoenix. Don't judge the shop by looking at the outside. Once you come inside it's really nice. There are a bunch of flat screen TV's on the wall and they play movies in surround sound. While I was in there, "Heist" was playing. The shop is very clean, I watched them sanitize EVERYTHING repeatedly. I was really relieved to see that. Everyone that got a tattoo while I was in there absolutely loved what they got. Out of about 6 people I didn't see anyone that was disappointed in their finished product. I've seen some of their other work and they do amazing portraits and color tattoos as well. The price was moderate, I paid $120 for 2 wrist tattoos. After calling around, I found out that was about the same amount that any other reputable tattoo shop would charge. It was more than worth it though. I'll definitely be recommending this shop to friends and going back to get more work done. Tattoos are my new addiction...and this could be a very dangerous thing. LOL! ***If you're looking to get your first tattoo-- DON'T get it in a friend's basement by Tyler the "tattoo" artist that has no experience and is a friend of a friend of a friend. Go to a professional place like Rising Phoenix. You get what you pay for-- if a shop is only charging you $20 for a tattoo like mine, run while you can. If it's that cheap, something is most likely not right, and the quality of the work will reflect the price.
